Chapter 100

Asher took out his phone from his pocket and was shocked to see numerous missed calls from Alex, his beta.

The phone was on silent. He had gone out to meet with brother, jax as promised but as usual, he failed him yet again.

Asher waited for hours but he never showed up nor call to inform him the reason why he was canceling. Due to all the problems, his mind was just preoccupied with ways on to carry on and get Bradley’s head.

On his way back to the hotel, he forgot to check his phone or even call Alex to ask him about the wellbeing of the pack, Elizabeth and his son.

Seeing all the missed calls lined up in his phone, he became disturbed and worried. For Alex to have called him repeatedly indicates something was wrong.

He began to worry and immediately returned his call.

Alex picked at first ring.

“Hello Alpha,” Asher could hear how urgent his voice sounded.

He calmed myself and spoke up.

“Alex, what is the problem? Did something happened?” He asked hoping to get a positive answer.

“Not really but Beth have been ill and Eva advice that I call you so I’m sure.”

At the mention of Beth, his jawline clenched tightly. He wasn’t surprised to hear about her illness, he was already feeling restless and simply brushed it off as his own anxiety.

“Can you tell me the symptoms she is having?” He asked impatiently.

“I don’t know Asher. Everything just seem strange because one minutes she is fine and the next she is running hot”

“That’s not normal Alex. Did she tell you anything? I mean you are always with her right?”

“ Yes but_”

Asher could hear hesitation in his voice causing him to get even more frustrated. His mood was already triggered, he doesn’t have the need for more, especially not from his Beta.

“Just go straight to the point and stop making me scared.” He snapped eventually as he stood pacing around in circles.

“Okay. I don’t know if I’m correct but I have a feeling she is lying about something and I can’t even get her to open up about it” Alex explained calmly and Asher sighed.

What could possibly be wrong with her now?

“Do you think she is not human?.”

Another minute past and there was no word from Alex, seem his Beta was thinking the exact same thing as he was.

“You also think the same thing don’t you?”

“I don’t know but then again, this could be as a result of you healing her with your b***d when she tried to kill herself. Maybe it must have triggered something and all the strange behaviors she has been showcasing could be as a result of the changes she is seeing. The problem is she won’t just open up to me.”

Alex was right, he was wise enough to have thought of something like that.

“Okay, just keep watching her and my son closely. I promise I would be back soon.” He promised and the call ended.

Alpha Asher pondered greatly on what Alex just discussed with him.

“What if Beth was truly not human? This is actually surprising.”

He was still deep in thought when he got a call from his informant and picked up immediately.

It was about Bradley’s location, his informant got the location of his hideout.

Asher quickly got ready as he started his journey to Bradley’s hideout immediately.

°° few hours later °°

Asher got to the location sent by his informant and realized it was an abandoned house just outside the town.

He took his time to survey the environment cautiously and when he saw no one in sight. He tried communicating with his informant but it wasn’t connecting.

He immediately entered the building armed with his daggers and almost ready to slit any bastard’s throat who tries any stunt.

Bradley can be as cunning as a fox and Asher wouldn’t want him to escape this time.

He saw traces of b***d on the floor and he wondered whose b***d it was as he continued to advance even further.

The Alpha absolutely ready for anything at that point as he had waited for that very moment for as long as he can remember.

He carefully followed the b***d traces, it led to a staircase and he followed closely looking around carefully.

The b***d and as well as his scent finally stopped at the door of a room and he pushed it open immediately.

Instead of Bradley, he was met by a dead body hanging over the ceiling. Still on full alert, He moved closer to the body and was shocked when he found it to be his informant. He had been killed.

The sword fell from his hands and he rushed to him immediately.

“Leon! Leon!” He called trying to see if he could wake up but he was already gone.

He was stabbed at the belly repeatedly.

“Bradley!”He seethed in anger as his claws grew longer. He told Jonas to wait as he was no match for that demon hunter but he didn’t listen and now he is death. Another death on his conscience.

He noticed a note on the floor and he picked it up. It reads:

“KEEP WASTING YOUR ENERGY ASHER TRYING TO GET ME. YOU ARE STILL ALIVE BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO. COME AFTER ME AGAIN AND IT WOULD BE YOUR LAST”

He squeezed the paper and tried controlling his anger, the text on the paper was written with Leon’s b***d.

This mission is becoming almost impossible and aside from that, it’s certain someone else was betraying him. He inhaled a deep breath and exhaled slowly before releasing the dead body from the ceiling before placing it on the floor.

He retrieved his phone and was about to text someone to come get him when he was interrupted by another call from Kara and he was surprised.

“What in God’s name does she have to discuss with me?”

After giving it some thoughts, Asher picked up.

“Whatever you have to say better be worth my time right now Kara.” He said in an unfriendly tune.

“Why are you always sounding too harsh and serious? Can’t you just reply with sweet words?” She complained.

“You know I can just end the call right now?”

“What’s the problem with you Asher? I have something to tell you anyways. It’s about Alex and Beth”

At the me mention of Alex and Beth, Asher halted in his attempt to end the call.

“What about them?”

“Alex is slowly taking your position as the Alpha of the pack. The elders promised to give him your position If he hands her over to them and I think he is succumbing to that.”

“When did this?” He asked not believing.

“Days ago”

Asher knew she was lying. If it was true than Alex would have told him. He trust him to tell him about every single thing and he believe he has which is why he realized Kara is just making up stories to get his attention which is a very poor attempt by the way.

“You are even more desperate than I thought Kara”

“Am not lying Asher, please believe me. There’s is an ongoing secret relationship between Alex and that woman. You have no idea how close they have gotten ever since you left. The whole pack is talking about it”

Asher quickly ended the call before she could cook up more lies about his Beta and the mother of his son. He might not trust Elizabeth but he trust Alex and he would never betray him like that.

But nonetheless, Her last statement got him pissed. The thought of Alex making a move on her at his absence annoys him to no end, he knows Alex has feelings for Beth but he would never dare betray him.

It’s obvious Kara is trying to cause a rift between him and his Beta because for all he knows, Kara has always being a snitch and hates Elizabeth and he won’t be surprised if this is one of her lies as well.
