Chapter 14
Beth’s POV.
Only a sound of dry logs getting crashed under Alex’s foot could be heard in the still dark forest as he bend over and picked Beth’s trembling form off the floor and into his arms. His head peered down and looked at her for a brief second before he began to walk back to camp.
She could scream, kick or pull away from his large hands as it carried her away but there wasn’t much fight left in her. Just a filled bucket of tears she refused to let spill over.
Though his arms were extra gentle and felt a whole lot comforting than the bare ground she lay on some minutes ago, Beth still felt stabs of pain surge through her heart with each step he took so she clung on to him as though his chest was a safe fortress even though silent war between loosing her sanity and staying still rages on in her mind.
With her eyes shut firmly, her shaky hands continued to grip tightly against her shredded clothes, clenching together whatever was left of it to her body.
She could hear his heart thumping loudly in his chest or was it hers. Beth couldn’t tell as her thought were already shattered. A feeling of nakedness hovering over her.
When his feet finally came to a stop and she felt his grip released slightly around her, she instinctively opened her eyes, one at a time before she glanced around and her eyes met with nothing but darkness.
In response to her environment, her body became tense with renew fear in her heart as she recognized the dark room to be her cell once again.
Without further ado, Alex leaned over and placed her back on the floor as gently as he possibly could and she swayed a little, feeling almost light headed, both from pain and also from the realization of her situation once more.
“I apologize for your pain tonight but you must understand that, everything that happened was unavoidable and it is what it is” Alex said matter of fact-ly and then took her hand in his for a second before Beth flinched as though she had been electrocuted and quickly pulled out of his hold forcefully, more so with pure irritation and disgust in her eyes.
Tears threatened to burn her eyes as she glared at him but she held them back.
“I know you are hurt and in need of a change of clothes. So let me help you”
“I don’t need your help, Alex” she snapped in exasperation, her eyes cold and glaring daggers at the stunned man by the corner. He was obviously shocked by her sudden outburst but decided to play it down.
“You may not understand it but I had my reason for not claiming you tonight” He said simply with hopes that she’d understand him.
Beth only frowned at him in return as she continued to glare at him still. “What might your reason be, Alex? I seriously want to know” She asked with her head cocked to the side expectedly.
The huge man shifted in the dark under her scrutiny as his eyes went to meet her glaring ones yet again. “I’m not required to answer that. Just let me help you and we can both call it a night”
“Help me? You really want to help me?,you stand here, pretending as though you are any different from the monsters that hunted me tonight but you are no different from every single one of them. You are just as mean, cold, cruel and a freaking savage just like that monster Asher so you can go shove your stupid help up your damn a*s because I don’t f*****g need it”
Beth swallowed and blinked a couple times just to keep the tears brewing in her eyes from spilling over. She absolutely hate for another one of her tears to slip yet again. Not for him or any of those savages.
For the past days, she has done nothing but beg and cry tears which has done nothing but get her punished. Tears are certainly not a way out around here but a sign of weakness as each one she has ever shed either earned her a slap, back whip, yanked, growled and snarled at not to mention raped.
She has had just about enough of it.
Every single one of her fluid has been burn right out of her body with every single thing done to her but not again. For a moment there she really thought he was different but now she knows he is exactly like them. Bunch of Savages justifying her barbaric nature with stupid reasons best known to them.
Alex gave a throaty growl at her words as he quickly closed the distance between them and had her trapped between the wall and his chest.
His fist clenched tightly by his sides while those eyes of his narrowed and glared dangerously at her.
“Yes, you are right. I’m just like one of them. A cold mean, cruel savage like Asher who took advantage of your body tonight but you should really count yourself lucky that all he ever did was use your body and not put an end to you like your own father did to his wife and left her mutilated in the middle of the same forest.”
“You call this dark hell living? I would have really preferred he killed me tonight. It would have been much better to die than have that man take advantage of me”
Tears start to slip down her cheek and somehow it made Alex uncomfortable as he made an unrecognized sound under his breath and stepped away from her before disappearing out the door.
Still backed up against the wall, Beth silent sob had morphed into a louder wail as her body immediately fell into an uncontrollable shuddering and shivering. Her bottom l*p trembled as she struggled to bite down against them.
Her knees buckled, finally unable to carry her any longer as she went sliding into the floor, the rest of her sobs still painfully trapped in her throat.
Even though she told herself to stay strong, she still couldn’t help but break down and cry even more. The pain throbbing at her core was nothing compared to the ones in her chest.
Her bruised skin still crawl from the thought of Asher forcing himself on her over and over again. A feeling of self loathing finally taking over as she became suddenly nauseous of everything.
Wrapping her arms around herself after a while, Beth continued to shiver even though the crying have subsided but still, her ribs won’t stop squeezing painfully against the floor with each hiccups and convulsing.
More tears continued to trickle down her cheek each time she remembers it all. The thought of that monster making the rounds in her head was like adding salt to fresh wounds each time she recall the look in his eyes when he forced his way into her body.
Heck, she couldn’t believe she even found him attractive at some point in her life, to think that point was just days ago would be an understatement.
How freaking wrong she has really being. He turned out to be worst of a human and his hatred towards her doesn’t even justify or excuse everything he has done and said to her. He is just as worst as her father if not more than he would ever be.
**
Beth was still curled up on the floor when she was suddenly startled by the sound of the door to her cell being unlocked, followed by light footsteps entering the dark room.
She wondered if Alex had come back or probably Asher. It won’t surprise her if he came back to continue what he already started in the forest earlier.
Still on the floor, she stared up at the figure that has strolled in and stopped before her only to replace someone peering down at her. Squinting her blurred vision even more, She realized the figure was that of a girl as her hair seem to be up in a ponytail.
The strange girl who also realized her eyes watching her smiled in the dark and Beth’s breath hitched in her throat as she saw her canines flashed threateningly at her. Before she could back away from her intruding presence. She quickly leaned over and grab her by the hair and yanked her forward, so much so that she couldn’t help but yelp in pain at how roughly her pull had been.
Beth whimpered in her hold, totally unable to withstand the pain that shot through her scalp while the mean girl’s smile only got even wider in satisfaction at her hurt reaction.
Seems like the night is absolutely far from being over for Beth after all.
