Chapter 26

Asher’s last words were not the only thing making the rounds in her head after she was left alone once again. Something else was topping her list of worries when she climb out of bed that morning. The dream she had that night felt more real then her reality even. The wetness between her core was enough proof to make her wonder what Asher’s b***d was doing or has done to her.

She stepped out of bed and went towards the bathroom in hopes of giving herself a normal bath but as she entered, she was surprised to see one of the women from last night already waiting for her. Beth knew better than to urge with her aid so she obediently allowed her to help her.

As she scrubbed some shampoo into her hair, Beth began to trace her wrist where she had tried to kill herself with a distance gaze. Beth thought about asking the girl a few question but wondered if she could trust her to tell her what she needed to know without snarling back at her like everyone else even though she doesn’t look harmless.

After she was done brushing off the tangles in her damp hair, she turned to leave.

“Thank you” Beth said, not sure how to address her.

“Izzy, my name is Izzy” The young girl replied with a smile before turning to leave.

“Uhm Izzy, can..can I ask you some_?” She hesitated for a moment, not sure if it was really a good idea.

Izzy strolled back to stand before her, her eyes narrowing at Beth’s unsure ones.

“Go ahead and ask anything you want and I will try to answer as much as I can” She said with a smile and Beth let out a breath.

Her eyes darted across her wrist for a second before peering up at Izzy,”I’m just a little curious after my injury healed completely without scaring. I’m wondering how that’s even possible?”

Izzy reached over and took hold of her wrists, staring at it for a brief moment before looking up to meet her eyes once again. “Did the Alpha use his b***d to heal you?”

Beth bite down at her lower lips, still a little bit skeptical about telling Izzy in case there is a consequences for doing so.

“I think he did. I mean,he said so himself after I tried to kill myself last night”

Izzy frowned at her words,”You’re really naive aren’t you?” She scolded her further. “I know you have been through so much since you got here but trying to take one life is a sin against oneself and shouldn’t be done no matter what”

“And being constantly beaten by your Alpha and people isn’t a sin?” Beth snapped back, startling Izzy who quickly took a step back and away from her.

A little frustrated sigh slip out of her mouth before she let her eyes clenched shut for a moment before looking back at Izzy. “I’m sorry Izzy. You didn’t deserve to be snapped at. That monster Asher should be hanged for everything he has done and still doing not you”

The young lady only shook her head in disagreement. “Alpha Asher isn’t a monster. I get that he has done some really awful things to you but he isn’t. In my opinion, I think he is just hurt and he doesn’t know what to do with all the anger and pain and you seem to be his venting bag each time he wants to let out some steams”

“Well, I can understand why you would defend him. He is your Alpha and leader. Don’t expect me to see him in the same way because he is nothing but a horrible monster whether he is hurting or not” Beth spat before sniffing back the tears starting to pool at her eyes.

“You are right. You have every right to feel whatever you are feeling and I’m in no position to ask anything of you”

She paused for a moment and when she spoke up again, her voice had suddenly reduced into a much lower tone.

“And to answer your question, first I must warn you never to speak about what the Alpha did to anyone else because it can be used as a weakness against him and it’s not good if that’s to happen”

Beth raised a brow at Izzy, suddenly curious to replace out more. “Why is giving me his you know what a weakness?”

“The Alpha rarely uses his b***d to heal anyone unless they are absolutely important to him and in your case, I’m guessing he did it to save you and the child or our pack would have been doomed for life” The younger girl explained with a shutter at the mere thought of something bad happening to her pack after recalling the oracle’s warning.

“And here is why using his b***d to heal becomes a weakness. The Alpha’s bloodline has some magic powers that allows them to heal but healing also means leaving a part of their essence behind like craving, abilities, desires that could be s****l and more but in your case since you are human, I don’t know what the effect might be but for a demon wolf like us, a part of his shadow is left behind”

Speaking of desires that could be s****l, Beth wondered if the dream she had about Asher was because of his b***d flowing through her veins.

The sudden opening of the door had both their heads snapping towards its direction. Another girl with an orange apron tied around her waist stood by the doorway with a tray of food in hand.

“Your breakfast is here. I should go”

Izzy said and Beth shot her a smile while she replied with a small nod and a smile of her own before slipping out the door.

After having breakfast in bed and doing nothing else other than seat around while staring out the window. Beth decided to take a stroll around the lobby.

Dressed in a blue T-shirt and short, she hesitantly stepped into the hallway only to be greeted by the sight of Alex leaning at the wall and at the same time halting her steps as well.

“Alex,” She greeted him with a quiet voice, her eyes still glued to the huge man standing before her gaze.

Pushing himself off the wall, Beth realized how different he was as compared to Asher even though they are so very alike.

“Do you need something?” Alex asked when she continued to stare at his face with bright eyes.

Snapping out of her staring mood, she swallowed nervously. “No, I, um, I was just bored just seating there by myself and thought_” she hesitated for a moment, her hands starting to fidget with the hem of her shirt.

Alex took a step closer, “what is it?” He questioned, his eyes narrowing at her with concern.

“I just thought maybe I could take a look around?” She said, finally looking away from his eyes with uncertainty.

Alex sighed loudly, lifting his hand to comb through his hair uncomfortably and drawing Beth’s attention to his face once more. He then lowered his gaze to peer at her solidly. “I’m sorry but Asher insist you stay in your room”

At his reply, Beth’s expression turned solemn before she nod in understanding and turned to walk back into her room once again.

While she lay in bed that night, her mind twirled with so many thoughts as she tossed and turned, not able to tell what time it was. To Beth, time was none existence in that place. One minute, it was day and the next it was dark into the night.

Nothing seem to make seem to matter to her anymore, not while she is still stuck in that hell with Asher as its ruler. Still dressed in her clothing from earlier, her mind silently drift into yet another peaceful slumber.

The full moon rose up in the sky with Beth still snoring away and peacefully under the sheet before she woke up suddenly and rose into a sitting position and then continued to seat in a stiff position as though something else had taken control of her body.

Beth rose up swiftly and began to head straight for the door. Even though her eyes were wide open, she still moved as though they were clenched shut and totally not making sense of her surrounding.

After a long walk down the hallway and turning down a few more, she abruptly stopped before a closed door, her right hand only half extended as though reaching to grab something and then pause.

Beth blinked once then twice before clearly focusing on the shirtless figure now standing on the door way, only inches away from her fingertips. Her eyes moved from those sculptured chest up to his deep dark dangerous eyes before she swallowed hard, finally realizing who she was staring at.
