Taken By The Demon Alpha -
Chapter 43
Asher’s POV
Tired and in a foul mood, that was how Asher felt when he left the hall after speaking with the elders. Asher knew he spoke the truth yet what he couldn’t understand was why he was feeling that way.
His mind was in total distraught. He wish they was a way he could get the elders off his back without having to deal with their constant questions and trailing. Even as Alpha, he has no right to take out the councils.
The only person who could have done so was his own mother as well as the moon goddess herself but in recent times, she’s been silent. Asides that, the elders were put there long before Asher was even conceived and after his birth mother left for her spirit journey, She made sure the councils would guide him and because of that decision, he is left to deal with them.
Asher was at a tight corner now. They were still clamoring for Elizabeth’s death as soon as she delivered. He couldn’t deny the feeling that came with that very decision.
Yes, she deserve to be punished for her father’s atrocities but death? That decision of his was starting to seem a little extreme even to him, especially now that he was starting to get to know her better.
It’s true she is a complete pain in the a*s but he couldn’t deny the fact that there was this joy within him whenever he spoke to her. She always made him feel at ease sometimes which was something he craved to feel. No woman, with the exception of his late wife, had made him feel that way before.
As Asher walked along the hallway towards his room, different thoughts consumed his mind. He got to the door and pushed it open expecting to be greeted by her presence only to replace the room quiet and empty.
He sighed in annoyance, absolutely sure she must have gone out once again and even worst, without his permission. It’s frustrating that she never seemed to listen to anything he said.
He had explicitly warned her not to leave the room for fear of what might happened to her but she never listened and always found a way to go against his orders.
“Elizabeth.’’ Asher called out.
She might just be in the bathroom. He called out again but there was no response and now, it was confirmed to him that she wasn’t in the room. Elizabeth had gone out again and to god knows where this time.
Just to be sure, he made his way towards the bathroom, knocking slightly before pushing the door open. She wasn’t in, the bathroom was just as he left it a few hours ago. He sighed, returning back to the room.
He decided to wait for her, she wouldn’t be long now. She had probably gone to get food like she did before. Sometimes, he felt for her. He now understood how lonely she could be with no one to talk to. It was enough to drive anyone crazy.
After awaiting a couple of minutes, Asher decided to take a quick shower. By the time he was done, Elizabeth would have been back. Shrugging off his clothes, he went under the icy cold water. He chuckled when a memory of long ago filtered through his mind.
It was of Alex asking him how he coped with showering with icy cold water even when the weather was nothing to write home about. Asher was the only wolf in the whole of the pack who could do that.
It was something he couldn’t explain. His wolf liked it and as long as he did, Asher was cool with it. In fact, the water helps to calms his nerves especially when he is agitated. He couldn’t quite explain it but there was a power behind water that most people didn’t know. It had no friend or foe and it was free for everyone which was the greatest thing on earth.
For as long as he could remember, he knew he liked water especially when his mom would take him down to the lake as a young cub for a cold bath. He became accustomed to it and he knew that was something that would never leave him. He was stuck with it for life and he loved it that way.
Satisfied, Asher shut off the shower, drying himself before walking out of the bathroom. Elizabeth still hasn’t returned yet which just left him worried. Even his wolf was starting to react and he knew something was wrong.
He quickly pulled open his closet, shuffling through his stalks of clothes before picking another shirt to wear. Once he was done, he sat down on the edge of the bed and began to slip on his boots, with his mind in total turmoil over where Elizabeth might be. He was restless, that much he knew and he knew he couldn’t just sit back and wait.
He quickly mind linked Alex, ordering him to get to his room immediately. He needed to replace Elizabeth as soon as possible without further delay. Every moment spent just thinking about her filled him with dread.
As soon as he let out that call to his Beta, Alex burst through the door, looking everywhere with a mad gleam in his eyes. He was surprised to see Asher sitting across the bed, working on his shoes.
From the nature of call he got from Asher, he didn’t expect him to be seated as he had perceived it to be one of distress, Thinking Elizabeth was in grave danger and needed his help.
“Elizabeth is missing” Asher said, love looking up to face him.
“Missing? How?, I mean when?”
Asher was back on his feet at this point as he began to pace back and forth, panicking, with his mind thinking of the worst case scenarios in his head.
“Last time I saw her, I left her here to answer the call of the elders and when I got back, i found her gone”.
“I want her found and I don’t care if you have to turn the damn camp upside down in search of her. Just f*****g do search for her. search everywhere and I mean everywhere. I need her found’’ Asher growled.
“I don’t think she left and even if she did. I assure you, we will replace her” Alex said firmly and Asher gave him a stiff nod.
The duo made their way out of the room in search of her with Alex taking the left wing of the camp in company of few guards while Asher took the right wing, also doing the same, his mind in total disarray over the safety of Elizabeth.
