The next day, Elizabeth woke up with a pounding in the head. Aside from the headache, her mood was dampen as well. Never has she felt so depressed and miserable all at the same time before. The memories of the previous day filtered through her mind as she dragged herself into a seating position on the bed.

To her surprise, Asher was still sleeping on the bed. In a brief moment, Elizabeth wished she could just strangle him and end everything right there and then. But as quick as the thought came, it also disappeared as well.

Despite everything that has happened, She knew she wasn’t a cold hearted killer like him and she would never succumb to strangling someone just to be free of him but that didn’t stop her eyes from glaring at him though as she stared at him, sleeping right next to her.

Asher looked very handsome as he slept, so peaceful like a new born but Beth doubt if his heart was nothing close to being blameless. His heart was made of stone and there was nothing she could do to change him or his perception of her. He had made that quite clear several times already.

He stirred in his sleep, his eyes fluttering open. He hadn’t seen her yet which just gave her the opportunity to look away just as quickly.

Just then, his eyes found her as he continued to blink more sleep away from his eyes. There was an unreadable expression on his face as he stared at her, probably trying to read her mood that morning.

“Good morning, Elizabeth” Asher said with a yawn before he sat up, stretching his arms even more into her space.

She stood up, making her way off the bed and towards the bathroom, leaving Asher to stare right after her, wondering if he had said the wrong word.

Just before she walked into the bathroom, she tripped, almost falling to do ground. The only thing that saved her was the chair she quickly took a grip on, steadying herself.

Asher was quickly by her side, “whoa, what just happened. Are you alright?”.

“It’s nothing. I’m fine” She answered just as stiffly before shrugging out of his hold.

Asher stared with furrowed brow as she continued to walk towards the bathroom before slamming the door shut.

When she was done from the bathroom, she walked out only to replace Asher still mounted in the same position right where she had left him. Keeping her head lowered with eyes casted to the floor, she tried to bypass him before he reached out and held her by the arm.

“look, I know you said you are fine and all but I can’t help but notice you are not so I’m going to ask you one more time. What is wrong with you, Elizabeth? Should I call Eva? F*****g talk to me” He growled out.

His deep voice rang through her head causing her headache to throb even more as she wince slightly. She could feel the headache getting stronger and might need to see the pack’s doctor after all.

“C’mon, Elizabeth. Are you just going to ignore me?” Asher asked once again, his voice now reduced into a quiet whisper.

She wanted so bad to tell him what was wrong and what she needed as well but still went ahead to fight the urge to do so. Asher could be acting to care for all she knows and she is not about to fall for it one more time.

“I’m fine. Thanks for worrying about your child” Beth said just as quietly before walking to grab a pair of fresh clothes and returning into the bathroom with the intention of giving herself a cold bathroom to water down whatever she was coming down with.

Asher on the other hand was left feeling more than frustrated. He couldn’t feel something was wrong yet can’t be certain since she keep saying otherwise. He has no idea why she was acting that way but it was really starting to get on his nerves..

“F**k” He growled, hitting the wardrobe with a loud bang.

Asher could feel a headache coming up and had to go for a run before he looses his mind and break something. He grab his shirt off the sofa before heading out the door and slammed it shut in apparent anger.

Asher let his wolf spring forth the moment his feet hit the cold earth underneath his feet. It was still early and the sun was just crawling out of its hiding as he went racing through the treelines, total free and unattached.

It’s been a while since he let his wolf out to ran freely without feeling out of control. Once he had his fill of the great out doors, he shifted back into his human form and went stalking towards the field where he knew Alex would be. He needed a place and someone he could vent to and Alex was the perfect person.

He found his Beta by the corner of the field, overlooking the grassland that covered the field. He could he had just returned from his morning run as well. Even before Asher got to where he stood, Alex had already sensed him coming. He smiled but his smile gave a way to a light frown that marred his face when he saw the look on Asher’s face.

“It’s too bright a day for the Alpha to be in such a bad mood, don’t you think?” Alex teased with a chuckle but Asher was not having any of it.

“This is what I get for sleeping next to a pregnant female” he said and quickly added. “not just any pregnant female but a grumpy one at that”

“What happened this time?’’ Alex asked.

Asher proceeded to tell him everything that had happened without leaving anything out. He desperately needed his Beta to understand him as much as possible.

“Patience” He said in a sing song voice and Asher growled at him.

“You really have to be patient with her Asher and secondly, I think she is upset about something hence her coldness to anything you say to her”

Asher was suddenly dumbfounded, trying to recall everything that had happened leading to her change of attitude. The only thing that came to mind was speaking to the elders unless somehow, she overheard him talk about her execution.

F**k!

“I think she must have overheard my conversation with the elders” Asher blurted out in realization. “She must have heard me assuring the elders about her execution once she put to birth”

“Oh no, you didn’t” Alex said slowly with a wild gaze.

“Oh yes I did and now I can imagine the shit load of things going on in her mind”

“That’s f****d up Asher. I don’t know what you have to do but you need to try and get those words out of her head before she think herself to death before the execution even happen”

“How the hell am I going to do that?” Asher asked with eyes narrowing back at his Beta for a way out.

“Start by apologizing” He said firmly.
