Alex waved at her goodbye once he was done talking to Asher and she waved right back.

“C’mon, we have to get inside now” Asher said sternly and she knew better than to argue when he is in that mood.

“Okay” she said and grab her basket of fruit. She too was staring to feel more than watched actually but telling Asher about it might mean she would never see outside again as he was ready acting insecure about her safety.

He led her towards his chambers, hands in hands while she tries to make small talks with the man. Asher couldn’t help but smile at some of her jokes as they walk past a few pack members who kept throwing weird glances at her but couldn’t dare to make it obvious due to fear of how their Alpha might react.

“Honestly?’’ Elizabeth asked just as they stepped into the room.

Asher was telling her a story about when he was a little boy and how much he loved going to the stream during winter to bath in ice. She had no reason to doubt him. He is that harden, bathing in ice doesn’t surprise her. She just wanted him to keep talking and he did.

“That’s the truth. Even up until now, i really don’t know why i’m so fascinated with ice water” Asher said with a grimace before he let her hand go and grab the basket of fruit from her and placed the food basket on the table.

Once he was done, he shrugged off his shirt. Upon seeing his exposed abs, Elizabeth’s breath hitched as she struggled not to stare at the man more than necessary.

Asher was well built as he stood like some Greek gods beside her without realizing the turmoil her mind was going through.

Asher noticed the weirdness and turned to face her, “Hey, are you Okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Could you please put…put on a shirt?” Elizabeth said, looking away to hide the embarrassment on her cheeks. She just couldn’t understand her reaction to the man no matter how much she tries.

She had seen him naked before but still, she could never get used to seeing him like that without thinking up things.

“Why? Does my chest disturb you?’’ Asher asked with a smile tugging at the corner of his lips at her obvious reaction.

He knew what he was doing and Elizabeth knew it too. She didn’t know where else to look and simply settled looking at the ground.

“Please put on a shirt ’’ Elizabeth sighed.

“Alright, fine”

Instead of throwing on some shirt, Asher resulted to walking around butt naked

Elizabeth who was yet to notice only turned around to ask for something only to froze midway, with her eyes almost falling out of its socket.

“What are you doing?”

“I don’t know, Elizabeth. You tell me” Asher teased with his hands anchored against his waist.

“Come on now, you really can’t go walk around with any clothes like that?”

“Well I can. This is my house and my body and I can choose to walk around naked if I please. You just have to get used to seeing me this way”

Elizabeth knew arguing with him would only make it act in that manner so she simply agreed.

“You are right, Ash. This is your room. Maybe it can Alpha thing for one to showcase their male organ as they see fit”

“It’s not an Alpha Thing, Elizabeth and don’t call me, Ash” He warned before grabbing his pajamas and shrugging it up his waist.

“Why do you hate me calling you that?” Beth asked after a while.

She heard him sighed deeply, “Because the one who enjoyed being called by that pet name longer exist. Stop trying to bring him back”

“Oh?” She answered in a haze as she sat staring out the window towards the outdoor that has become just as dark.

Beth was quiet for a moment trying to understand the hidden meaning in what he had just said. Seems he also have a lot of things stored inside. She doubt he would explain even if she ask. But she tried either way.

“Asher?” She called out as she turned to stare at him.

“Hmm?”

“Can you tell me what happened between you and my father?”

“Why?”

She gave a half shoulder shrug, “I don’t know but I guess it will help me understand your fight with him”

Another moment went by and Asher said nothing as he lay on the bed staring at the ceiling.

“Just know that your father is the worst creature to walk the earth” he said slowly yet something dark was underlying his words. “He is worst than anything you are imagine. And if it’s true you grew up far away from him then I’m surprised to think he loves you enough to want to spare you from his psychopathic self”

Asher words were filled with so much venom that Beth was left dumbfounded. If anything, she knew Asher was right. Maybe abandoning her in that school all those years was out of love but still she hated that he did.

“I don’t know what this is supposed to solve but I just want you to know how sorry I truly am”

Asher sat up, facing her which left her looking back at her clasped hands resting against her laps. “Are you sure Bradley Lincoln is your father?”

Her head snapped back to look at him. His question taking her unawares.

“I don’t understand your question”

“me too, Elizabeth. You don’t act or sound like his progeny and that’s enough confusion for me” He said shortly before adding. “Come to bed. Enough talking already”

“Okay”

She quickly changed out of her clothes and into something more comfortable before crawling into bed beside him. Asher reached out and shut off the bedside light, placing the once lit room into total darkness with little rays of moonlight streaming in through the window.

**

The next morning came with a lot of sunshine and Elizabeth was quite glad for the weather. Asher was still fast asleep beside her and she decided not to wake him up. Her aim that morning was to go out to the gardens herself.

She climbed out of the bed, making her way towards the bathroom for a quick shower. When she was done, she put on a robe and left him a note before leaving the room. The weather that morning was warm and friendly, a sharp comparison to how chilly it was the previous night.

Elizabeth made her way towards the garden, happy to see that most of the plants were still in good condition as she slide her palms through them.

A few minutes later, Elizabeth heard a shuffling in the bushes before she felt a sharp pain in her arm. Just then, she realized what was happening. She was being attacked by a man who stood before her with a mask covering his face.

Even without being told, Elizabeth knew she needed to run to safety but the glaring look in his eyes was one of death, frozing her completely.

“please don’t hurt me” She began but his voice caught her off.

“_I’m afraid your life has already been paid for”

Elizabeth shuddered at the sound of those words before he began to advance towards her, his short blade equipped on both hands aiming for her stomach.
