Chapter 59

Asher’s POV.

Asher pushed the door to his room open, steeping in to replace Elizabeth and Izzy talking before they went absolutely silent when they saw him. Without being told, he knew he was their topic of discussion.

Asher could clearly see the pain and sadness in her eyes even though she was barely making eye contact with him.

“Hello” Asher said to Elizabeth before turning to acknowledge Izzy with a nod.

“Greeting Alpha” Izzy said respectfully before rising up to her feet with a slight bow at his direction.

“Beth, I’ll see you tomorrow. Please take care of yourself” Izzy said, giving her hands a gentle squeeze.

“Thank you” Elizabeth smiled.

She shut the door gently behind her, leaving the duo. Elizabeth sighed, getting up on her feet before walking towards her closet to change and probably shower as well.

Asher watched her try to shrug her jacket off and decided to help when it got entangled with her hair but before he could reach out a hand to touch her, she yelled at him.

“No!”

“Whoa, calm down, Elizabeth. I was just trying to help”

“well I don’t need your help”

“Okay, okay”

She said nothing and carried on with herself and Asher let out a sigh before moving back and away from her.

She discarded her clothes just as grudgingly before walking towards the bathroom to have a light shower.

Asher just stood there staring after her, wondering exactly what could be wrong with her.

Once she was done, Elizabeth dressed in a much lighter gown before going to seat on the sofa once again. Throughout that day, she never uttered a word to Asher who was just watching her, still utterly confused.

Later that night.

Asher went ahead and took his bath too before joining her on the bed but he knew that he wouldn’t be getting any sleep especially if she keep up with that attitude of ignoring him like a f*****g plaque.

Sleep would never come to him so he settled for staring at the ceiling. His mind moved in quick succession as he tried to pieced the puzzle together.

Elizabeth who was facing him on the bed had her eyes closed but he knew she was not sleeping. Her breaths were labored and he realized with horror that she was trying not to cry. She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of seeing her cry. She was as stubborn as that.

He moved towards her, attempting to cuddle her but that proved to be a mistake because her eyes flew open at that moment. The look she gave him had him moving back. She hissed, turning her back against him.

“Elizabeth?” he called at her.

She ignored him and he didn’t know if he heard correctly but she sniffed which just indicated that she was crying but for how long, that was something he didn’t know.

Asher quickly pushed himself into a seating position before forcing her to look back at him.

“Elizabeth?, what’s going on?” Asher asked with a confused look on his face.

“What’s going on?” she questioned and he nodded.

“yes, tell me. What the f**k is going on”

“If you want so badly to know what’s going on then you should go ask Kara. Go ask her, she will tell you exactly what’s going on”

“What?”

The ferocity in her eyes was what drove him back and not the words. There was a dead look in her eyes which was due to the fact that, Elizabeth had finally reached her breaking point.

Another minute went by and there was total silence.

Now, he knew what was eating her up. Kara must have said something.

F**k.

Now that he knows, he wondered what Kara might have said to her. Even if she did say something about what happened last night, he sure as hell didn’t expect her to react like that.

He got out of bed and walked towards his wardrobe and grab his shirt before shrugging it on after which he threw a quick glance at her direction before slipping out the door

He got to Kara’s room soon and he had a mind to just barge in and confront her but he decided to be civil. He knocked quietly and after some minutes, she opened. Upon seeing him, she smiled.

“Hey Alpha, you’re here for another one?’’ she smiled.

Asher’s hands were itching to smack that smile off her face but he kept his cool. He wasn’t going to be violent but if Kara pushed him to the wall, he didn’t know what he’d do.

He walked in, closing the door as he stood staring at her for another minute. Kara came to wrap her arm around him but he stopped her midway. His hand gripping her hand firmly.

“What did you tell Elizabeth?” He growled.

Kara’s smile dropped. “It’s not about what I said to her but what she did to me”

Asher arched a brow at her word, “What do you mean?”

“I only told her the truth and that bitch hit me on the face”

Kara was suddenly left choking on her own saliva as Asher’s hand dropped from her hand to her neck pretty quickly before she could even swallow.

“Don’t you f*****g refer to her as a bitch. Elizabeth is everything you are not” he sneered and she paled even more before he pulled her even closer, his grip getting even tighter by the second.

“Now I asked you a question, Kara. What f*****g truth did you tell her?”

“Asher, stop. You’re choking me” Kara croaked.

“That’s not an answer woman. Talk”

He could see real fear in her eyes and that pleased him to no end. He wanted her to be scared, very scared.

“I only told her not to keep her hopes up because you would never like her like you did your wife”

Asher released his grip on her slightly but not completely and she choke out a cough.

“and on whose authority did you tell her that huh? I f*****g told you to keep your mouth shut didn’t I?”

“Asher please, I’m sorry” Asher barked and she flinched, turning her face away.

“Now you listen and listen good, I don’t want you anywhere close to Elizabeth ever again and if I replace out you told her more than you just told me then you will be sorry you even opened your mouth, you will be so f*****g sorry you did”

Asher finally let her go and she crumple to the ground, coughing as she sucked in precious air.

Kara stared at him from where she laid, crumpled to the ground. She was scared, petrified even before it quickly morphed into hatred but Asher could care less as he turned and walked out the door. Leaving her there to cough some more.
