Chapter 73
Back in his room now after a whole day’s work, Asher sighed when he saw the emptiness in his room. It wasn’t the same when Beth was here. He couldn’t deny the fact that he missed her and wanted her here but what had to be done, had to be done.
She needed a more conducive environment for her wellbeing and so far, keeping her with him hasn’t exactly helped and the only thing that made any sense now was for her to stay at Eva’s place.
Her health and safety was all he could think about at that point, hence the need to put some of his trusted guards to watch her. He and his Beta would do same but having extra pairs is just for precautions sake.
Spending time out with the boys in the field had him sweating and now he sinks. He quickly undo his trouser and shrugged out of his shirt before strolling into the bathroom to shower up and then relax.
The water was cold and refreshing just as he liked it. Asher stood under the shower head with droplet of water sliding down his bare back. He inhaled a deep breath as he allow the water rushed through his skin some more.
His head was tilted towards the floor as his thoughts took him back to Elizabeth once again and he couldn’t help but imagined how she must be feeling now. He wondered what she may be doing at that minute, probably had her nose in a book or eating.
Heck, he didn’t think he was going to miss her presence this much but he did. He missed how she glared weakly at him, how she called him annoyed and eat like a little pig who haven’t had food in years.
A little sigh escaped his mouth as her thought invade his mind even more. Asher tried to cleared his mind a little as he struggle to focus on the memories of his late wife that was starting to fade altogether.
Many times has he stood in that shower as he was doing at the moment and had her sneaking in to grab him from behind. Her soft hands would grip his c**k gently while causing him to shutter with a satisfied g***n.
Macy was good. She knew exactly what he needed and at what time he needed it. Her mouth could be fierce and demanding each time she ran it over his length with determination. A rare determination he always admired.
His jaw clenched tightly as he forced himself to focus on memories of her bouncing off his c**k months ago even though all that was left is a fading memory.
Even her scent was gone and all that was left behind is a certain green eyes woman who has managed to break through his walls.
Elizabeth was intriguing and she sure as hell infatuated his mind and now he can’t help but have her thought cloud his mind.
Asher wondered if she was lonely, sad, or happy. But knowing the kind of person she was, Asher had a feeling that she wouldn’t be sad. She was probably making the best of her situation by now. Elizabeth was that flexible.
Elizabeth was a free spirited person and nothing ever killed her spirit. She found joy and happiness in talking to people and now that she was away from him and with people she could actually converse with, sadness would be far away from her.
It crazy to think knowing she would be happily speaking with people that are not him sort of make him sad. For the first time in his life, he wish things had been different.
He remembered the first time they had met back in the street of New York. Asher wanted to protect her from those street kids. The innocence in her eyes when she looked up to face him almost had him changing his mind about taking her.
He almost did. Even after following her home that night, he stay in the shadows just watching. Back then Asher thought, his revenge was the reason he had pull through with the plan. Truth is, her innocence reminded him of Macy and he wanted it for himself.
Asher realized with sadness in his heart at that moment that, all the heartaches she had ever felt, all the physical and emotional torture he ever gave her was to break her and prove that she wasn’t capable of being innocent.
No Lincoln has ever been innocent. They are all monster but Elizabeth has shown him that she wasn’t and so far, he can’t help but realized how truly wrong he had been and what more? Fate had decided to play a trick on him by letting him feel all those emotions for her when he obviously shouldn’t.
Asher turned off the water and grabbed a clean towel before wrapping it around his waist. He stepped into the room and stopped in his tracks as his eyes moved across the room and noticed how lonely and empty it was. Her books, shoes and blanket that used to make the room messy was no longer there and now he wished they were.
It was true with what they said, you never really know what you have until you lose it. This was what he was currently facing and now he knew the value of cherishing a messy room with a pregnant woman sitting by the corner who doesn’t want to speak with you.
He sighed yet again before moving towards the wardrobe to throw on some fresh clothes. He found a pair of black leggings stucked in between his clothes and knew who they belonged to.
He brought it close to his nose and took a lungful of air from it and felt it swell within his chest before exhaling slowly through his mouth. He placed it back and grab his hoodie and sweat pant before slamming it shut.
Once he was done, his eyes caught sight of the brown envelope on his desk. It was fax to him by his sister Avril. It was their company monthly report. While he and his brother Jax are killing themselves over their respective packs.
Avril was put in charge of the company. And so far, she has done pretty well. Their parent had wisdom when it came to which child owned what and Avril was the one with brain.
Asher decided to look through it before giving her a call to discuss the matter with tax and whatever difficulty she could be facing. He settled by the sofa before he tore through the paper in hand and was about to read through it when he felt a certain way and paused.
Asher was already familiar with such feeling and it spell danger but it wasn’t him he was worried about. He wondered what Elizabeth was doing at the moment and if she was safe before he want hurrying out the door.
