Chapter 45-2

"Because the beta sacrificed his life trying to save the Alpha’s life when he was 11.

Dexter still believes he owes him his life and he regrets leaving the house that night a few weeks after the sudden death of the late Luna Queen." Daniel responded and I widened my eyes, finally understanding where all the guilty feelings Dexter had always buried deep inside of him were coming from,

No wonder he was always fucking protective of Scarlett, and no wonder he never made her know about his feelings for her in the past,

"What about the late Luna Queen, how did she die? What happened to her?" This was what I was even more curious about because absolutely no one talked about her in the mansion. It was almost like she was a forbidden topic,

"I’m sorry Luna, but I’m in no position to say," Daniel responded and I heaved deeply as I leaned back in my seat, The car halted in front of a building and the door was opened for me to step out,

"This way, Luna," Daniel uttered, and then I trailed behind him. When I got in, I saw that everything was beautifully arranged, and there was a big portrait of Beta Gregory in front of the podium. There weren’t many people present yet, but Dexter was seated on a golden table staring at beta Gregory’s portrait with clenched fists,

"Hey." I greeted, as I took my seat, and he immediately cocked his head towards me. I watched as he forced a smile on his face,

"Is everything okay?" He nodded his head, but deep down, I knew it was just an act. He had been going through so much torture every year for 11 years and it was so horrible,

I understood how it felt to be blamed for something. My father always called me a witch because my mother abandoned me to die and every year of my life, the feeling of being unwanted hunted me,

"It’s going to be a long night." He muttered and took his gaze away from me almost immediately.

Soon, the hall was packed, and since the Alpha family sat in front, I watched Scarlett stand to her feet and walked over to the podium,

She was meant to say a few words, but as she spoke, tears rolled down her eyes uncontrollably while I stared at everyone who cried along with her,

In the midst of it all, Dexter rose to his feet and began to walk towards the exit of the hall,

My gaze darted to Clara who was seated beside Tyson and I saw her nod her head at me, telling me to follow him,

I rose to my feet almost immediately and began to trail behind Dexter until I got out of the hall,

"Dex..." my words instantly froze when I saw him strangling someone and trying to kill the person and I rushed towards him immediately,

"L...let him go, Dexter," I muttered, carefully taking steps closer to him,

He had so much rage in his eyes and I could see it. I had no idea what the person had done to get him angry, but the look in his eyes certainly meant he was ready to rip his heart apart,

I darted my gaze toward the man being strangled and it shocked the living hell out of me to see a smirk on his face instead of fear

Who the hell was this person?
