The Addiction Series -
Book One :- Part Thirty
His hand was wrapped around her waist as he slept soundly, in the midsts of darkness. Her eyes slowly opened only to come face to face with the darkness. The sound of a heart monitor starting to irritate her with each beep. One thing she hated all her life were needles and seeing that she had a cannula in her hand made her feel like she had to remove it soon or later. Her eyes looked around the room wondering where she was, all she could remember to see last was Gaetano's eyes.
"Gaetano" she whispered, her throat ached and her voice was more hoarse and rough than usual.
A soft snore pulled her attention towards her left and her heart beat increased, Gaetano was sleeping soundly next to her. Having turned her face to the left only there was only a few countable inches from his, Her silver eyes outlined every each of his face and she managed to smile.
She brought her face closer then looked up at his closed eyes one more time before closing the gap between them. Her lips locked with his and her eyes closed, she let the minutes pass as a tear dropped from her eyes. She pulled away slowly and his eyes opened staring in to her grey ones that he missed so much.
He turned away from her and reached for the lamp on the bedside table turning on the switch. He sat up and turned to look at her body. His eyes moved over to her face only to see tears flow down her eyes "Shh " he whispered holding out his hand towards her face.
When his hand came in contact with her skin, she closed her eyes like she was in pain for a minute there
"When I was eight, my mom was my best friend. Truly me and my dad never got along that much since he wanted a boy and I became a girl" she spoke up and his hand stopped whatever it was doing.
He looked at her unable to believe that she was already opening up to him "I had started my training when I was six, Uncle Franco was a father that I had never got in Dante but I still loved him and longed so much for his love..
One day I decided to do everything that makes my dad love me like he did to Sergio whose mother that was a maid died and Dante took him as a son.
It hurt so much to see him love that boy so much more than his real daughter.
I took my training so serious, I cooked with my mom his favourite foods and used to serve him his wine.
I would start useless conversations to at least make him talk to me until that day.
It was my ninth birthday and my mom always woke up at midnight just to be the first person to give me a gift but that night she found me already awake and waiting for her.
She was so happy for me and gave me a small box, I was surprised to see that my gift came in a small box like that" she added the last part opening her eyes and looked into his.
"Gaetano she used to give me big boxes but it was small that time and I was disappointed, she asked me to open it and I did slowly and bit by bit.
In there lay a beautiful necklace that held ML on top, the first letter of my name and hers, it was the most beautiful gift I had ever got and I promised my self that it would never get away from my neck. She kissed me good night then went back to her room.
I couldn't go back to sleep all night cause I kept thinking of all the things we were going to do the next day and good enough it arrived soon. April 13th was that day.
There was this cliff where me and mom used to always go and lay on it's ground, just to watch the stars above. My mom she loved heights it was something that thrilled her.
The difference was that this time we went there during the day, My mom had planned a beautiful picnic for me, her and dad but Dante said he was to attend to a meeting first then he will come.
We reached the place and just like usual my mom went over to edge and stood there looking in a far distance, I followed her and stood next to her "it's scary " I whispered to her but when I looked up at her face I realised that she was in thoughts and not listening to me.
"I turned around facing her then touched her dress in a way that was to help me get her attention, "mom " I whispered and she tried to turn around so we could be facing each other only for her to slip off." Tears kept falling down her eyes, he stared at her waiting patiently for her next words
"She held onto the rock and tried to pull her self up, I had started crying that moment and more confused on what to do next. I knew I had to help her so I laid flat on my stomach and gave her a hand for her other arm that was hanging in air and tried to help her back up but I wasn't strong enough to hold on, within time she started to give up.
she asked me to take care of my dad and then I watched her hand slip out of mine allowing her to fall to death. I regret having ever let her hand go, I should have waited for dad to come." He stared at her, as she sobbed not even bothering to hide her tears. At this moment he felt only helpless
