Taleela insisted that she was okay. She told Mazza that she need not see a doctor, but Mazza would not be talked out of it. She was having a slight increase in her body temperature and was feeling a headache.

Lady Tanya felt sick, too, and that escalated Mazza’s anxiety. Tanya said she only needed rest, but he did not believe her either. So, then Mazza called for the family doctor, Eren Moreland, to come and check up on them, despite their protest.

They were waiting for him in the living room. Taleela watched a show on the ultra-slim, gigantic, flat-screen television.

“Why isn’t he here already?” Mazza said, sounding so worried. “He is always on time, so what’s happening now?”

“Hmm, maybe he got stuck in traffic,” Taleela suggested.

“Then why isn’t he answering his calls anymore?” Mazza said, calling Eren’s number.

“Relax, Mazza, I think you’re overreacting! I’m fine.”

“Yes, boss, I think I agree with Taleela,” Lady Tanya said.

She was trying to visualize how a stranger got to call the great Don Palumbo himself by his name. But then again, this was no ordinary stranger, she presumed.

There was a knock on the door, and Lady Tanya went to answer it. Eren Moreland was a short man with a clean-shaven head. He wore a white lab coat and had a stethoscope around his neck.

He also carried along with him a medical box containing some other handy medical equipment. He checked Lady Tanya’s heartbeat and that of Taleela, which he noted was normal. Mazza sat in silent observation as the doctor did his thing.

“Try to keep still and breathe evenly,” Eren said before affixing a B***d Pressure Apparatus on Taleela’s arm. She seemed okay, but Lady Tanya’s BP was on the rise.

“Lady Tanya, I’ll prescribe some drugs for you that will help lower your b***d pressure,” Eren Moreland said.

“Thank you, Doctor Eren, is that all?” Lady Tanya inquired about getting up.

Alonso would soon return from work, and she had not prepared dinner.

“Yes, that will be all, Lady Tanya.” Doctor Eren declared openly with a glinting smile.

Lady Tanya moved along where Taleela was sitting and flashed her a smile.

“So, miss Taleela, Don Mazza informed me that you have amnesia,” Eren said politely.

“Yes, I can’t remember anything from my past life.”

“So, have you been trying to remember a lot?” Eren said, studying her face.

“Yes, doc, but it’s just blank!” Taleela said, sounding frustrated by the thought of it.

“I think that you are trying too hard, and you pushed past the limit that resulted in you fainting,” said the doctor.

“Your memories will come if there are specific memory triggers. Try different foods, visit a lot of places, try different hobbies. Maybe something will stimulate a memory but don’t force yourself to remember anything independently. That can be very damaging.”

“Okay, sure, I won’t stress much thinking about my past,” Taleela assured the man.

Taleela had spoken with Carlo earlier today, and he had said the same thing but in his usual playful manner.

She wished he was around more often. She could not believe that she was becoming accustomed to living here. It was only Alonso that was making it impossible to live in. Eren was accompanied by the Mazza out, and Taleela wasted no time in returning her concentration to the movie she was seeing.

She was sprawled on the chair, and she propped her heels on top of the tempered glass center stool that had crystals of multiple colors.

A few minutes later, The living room door opened, she was expecting to see Mazza come in, but instead, she saw a feminine figure. She realized that it was Eureka, and she immediately adjusted to sit upright. She waited for Alonso to walk in after her, but instead, she closed the door.

“What are you doing?” Eureka asked, sounding incredulous.

“Uh, watching TV,” Taleela fired back.

“And in whose house?” Eureka barked. “You have such guts to rest your filthy whore-ish legs on the center stool! Are you a crazy bitch? What kind of maid are you? Get your a*s off the furniture! I’m talking to you, and you’re still sitting.”

Taleela rose slowly; she rolled her eyes at Eureka and walked away with a slight hiss.

“Come back here and take my things up to my bedroom,” Eureka yelled.

Taleela felt she should walk away and not do it. She took an inch forward before turning back in reconsideration.

She collected the bag and took it up the staircase. She paused at the door to Alonso’s room and felt a deep rising hatred for Eureka. If Alonso was seeing somebody else, why did his granddad have to bring her into all of this? She pushed the door handle and found out that it was locked. She heard footsteps coming up the stairs and assumed Eureka was the one, but Lady Tanya came up. She was bringing the key to unlock the door to Alonso’s room.

“Hey, do not worry dear, I can take it up from here now,” Tanya said, patting Taleela’s shoulder.

“Thanks,” Taleela replied, managing a smile.

As Taleela descended the stairs, she crossed paths with Eureka, who was coming up. Eureka was expecting her to step aside, but Taleela competed with her.

She willed Eureka to give her space to pass; after all, Eureka was only a few steps to the last one leading up. Why could she not be patient? Taleela wondered.

“Are you competing with me? Step aside!” Eureka demanded furiously.

“I swear to God, Eureka, if you don’t step out of my way, I’m going to push you down,” Taleela said. Her voice was a cold whisper.

Eureka calculated the distance to the ground and looked at Taleela, unsure if she would fulfill her threat. Slowly she stepped aside.

“You know Alonso will hear of this. You might be Mazza’s plaything, but my baby can never tolerate this level of disrespect,” Eureka blasted.

Nothing she said baffled Taleela more than being called Mazza’s plaything.

The time was eleven pm, and Eureka was lying restlessly on the couch. Alonso had not come back. She had tried his number numerous times, but he did not take his calls.

Mazza had taken Taleela outside the house. Possibly to the poolside, she thought, mischievously. Lady Tanya had gone back to her side of the house. Eureka got inquisitive and decided to check out Taleela’s room.

It was not locked, and so she had no struggle getting in. She had no idea what she was searching for. Alonso had already made it clear to her that Mazza wanted Taleela to work with them. She checked every inch of the room. She tucked her hand in between the mattress and the bed stand, searching for a condom, and she felt something.

“I knew it,” she muttered, pulling out a wrapper of an already eaten chocolate. Disappointment nicked at her.

She looked at the desk and spotted a drawer. As she opened it she found a drawing pad. She tossed it aside and saw more of the same chocolate and pencils. Curiously she picked the drawing pad up again. The first page was a drawing of Mazza.

She scoffed inwardly, calling Taleela a gold-digger who deceives the older man with love. She was about to turn to the next page when she heard footsteps approaching from afar. She quickly tossed the drawing pad into the drawer and closed it.

Her phone rang, and she pretended to be pacing around as Taleela walked down to her.

“Hello baby, when are you coming back?” said Eureka to Alonso.

“Eureka, don’t spend the night waiting for me,” Alonso said. “I won’t be coming until later tomorrow. An urgent business came up.”

“Babe, the bed will be so empty without you, and I’ll be so cold and horny,” she said purposefully.

“Hmm, what did we agree on?” Alonso asked, sighing.

“No problem, baby, I’ll wait!” Eureka said, giggling. “Babe, your maid threatened to throw me off the stairs!”

“What! Taleela?”

“Yes, who else? She’s behaving like the devil’s incarnate!” Eureka said sharply. She eyed Taleela, who paused at her doorstep and entered.

“I’ll deal with all of that tomorrow,” he assured her.

This was impossible because Mazza protected Taleela like he was her guardian angel. Although, he had to laugh it out after the call. Taleela seemed so spirited and feisty.

The following day, Alonso awoke in a room offered at the private hotel of his associate friends in Italy. Bianco was shown the very next room. Greco Mancini, the hotel owner, had allowed them to make use of the hotel’s conference room for their meeting this morning.

Alonso was meeting with Nicolasi, Vincenzo, and Juno. Bianco felt so happy that he would be seeing Vincenzo after a while. It turned out that Omega Juno Lanfonsy’s story was checked.

Late last night, Alonso called Callisto to clarify that Juno worked for him. He had his bag man wire the sum of two million dollars to Callisto to cover Juno’s debt.

“Gentlemen,” he said as Bianco pushed open the door for him. “I don’t have much to discuss. Just a few clarifications of your positions and what I expect of each man.”

Mariyanna Makorov felt like the windows of heaven had opened up and poured out blessings upon her. She sat upon her father’s chair and proclaimed herself the new Don. When asked if she wanted to investigate her father’s killer and seek revenge for him, she said negative.

She also halted every search party her father had put out for her sister. Alyona was dead. She knew it, she pronounced it, and she loved the very idea of it. Although, she put in her trusted confidant, someone equally as evil as she was as the underboss. She was going to go back to Italy.

She wanted to establish a kingdom of her own there. Her father’s wealth was enough to get her started. Her ambitions were far more significant than that of any man.

Eureka welcomed Alonso with a broad smile and a hug as he came into the living room. “Welcome, baby!”

“Eureka,” he said, managing to smile. “You seem well.”

“I’m not well at all! I want Taleela to leave here, baby,” Eureka said, not even allowing Alonso to settle.

“I told you, my granddad is the one responsible for her,” Alonso said, short of breath.

“Baby, what I mean is that I want you to move her out and put her in the auxiliary building that is meant for workers. You have to make her know she needs to respect you and what is yours. Promise me you will punish her.”

Alonso thought about it. It was true that Taleela had overstepped her bounds. A reprieve from some privileges she enjoyed will be an excellent way to make her learn some respect.

“Sure, she’ll be punished!” Alonso replied with an air of finality.

“Thank you, baby,” Eureka said, pecking him, and he recoiled.

“Eureka, don’t you make me punish you as well,” he warned.

Mazza came out as he sensed Alonso’s presence in the house. “Alonso, meet me at the poolside now,” he asserted.

“I was about to ask the same of you!” Alonso said.

“Baby—”

Alonso turned to glare at her, and she stopped. He did not have time for her right now. Following his grandfather out, they walked down to the poolside.

“Granddad, there’s something I wish to discuss with you!” Alonso bellowed.

“And so do I,” Mazza retorted.

“You sound furious,” Alonso noted.

“Sure! Why not? It’s about your mistress Eureka.”

“Oh yeah, and to think I was about to talk about yours, Taleela.”

“Eureka was snooping around Taleela’s room late last night when we came out to relax. She found her chocolate wrapper on the floor, which she tucked into her bed.”

“Hmm, and Taleela threatened to throw Eureka off the stairs!”

His grandfather stopped and roared with so much laughter that he clutched his stomach.
