The Alpha Mafia King -
Chapter 71
The car was heading in a different direction, and Alyona noticed. “Uh, I think you missed a turn; the casino is that way.”
Antonio smiled and said, “Relax, the boss wanted me to take you to get a few items for the baby.”
“Hey, are you new? What’s your name?” Alyona inquired suspiciously. Her instincts were telling her that something was wrong.
“I’m Antonio. And yes, I just got employed.”Why would Alonzo send someone new to pick her up? Plus, she felt it was inappropriate for him not to tell her first that she would be going to get some items for the baby.
“Well, men are just full of surprises,” she thought. However, she didn’t feel like going to shop.
“Turn the car back around,” Alyona said, but Antonio kept driving.
“Are you deaf? I said you should turn the car around.” Antonio had anticipated that something like this could come up.
He reached for the stun gun hidden in his boot. Antonio pointed the device at Alyona, seated in the backseat, and fired. The effect troubled him as he watched Alyona’s body jerk for seconds before becoming still.
He didn’t wish to be a part of this, but his father would kill him if he resisted. So a car had been following Antonio precisely as his father had predicted hours ago when the plan was still in formation.
Well, he was going to allow the car to keep following him, but he wished whoever was tailing him could turn back before it got too late for the person.
There was an ambush lying in wait a few miles from their secret hideout, which was not the actual hideout but a decoy where his father planned on taking out anyone tailing him.
Thanks to the head start, Piccolo was not nearly as close to the hideout as he wished to be. However, the man tailing Alyona had just confirmed that he had gotten to the place Alyona was being taken to, and Piccolo was staring at the address. He sped, trying to get there as fast as possible. He would probably be faster if he used his foot.
Antonio had made a show of stopping like this was his final destination. Not long after, Laslow was seen dragging the body of a dead man and dumping him on the ground where his body could easily be found. He left a sticky note stuck on the man’s forehead. Also, the man’s car was rigged with explosives—the same kind planted in the casino.
Laslow joined Antonio in the car. He sat in the backseat, and Alyona was still unconscious.
“Well done, Anto; I’m sure this will redeem you in your father’s eyes,” Laslow said, patting Antonio on the shoulder.
Antonio began driving to the actual location.
Piccolo had just found a dead body and a car on fire. He took the note from the man’s head and read it: This was as far as he got.
Piccolo felt terrible that he had lost Alyona’s trail. He called Alonzo to inform him, but his line was busy.
Alonzo listened to Callisto.
“You don’t know how to follow instructions, do you? I know about the low-key evacuation. I know your security teams are trying to disarm the bombs, and also, I know you had somebody follow your mate. You are to blame for what happens next.”
Before Alonzo could say, Jack Robinson, the bomb nearest to him, detonated along with several others. The force had those closest to the bomb flying in body parts scattered in different directions. Properties had been destroyed.
A piece of glass from wherever had pierced near Alonzo’s left eye. There was a ringing sound in Alonzo’s ears, and he coughed. His vision had also become blurry. He pulled the glass close to his eyes, and the injury healed instantly.
He staggered as he managed to rise to his feet. There were so many dead and wounded.
He hoped his grandfather and Leonardo were okay. Earlier, the area had been cleared and confirmed no bomb.
There was nothing he could do for the dead, but he tried to help the severely injured by carrying them out of the burning building.
“Alonzo!” Mazza called out to him as he returned to the gaming floor.
Alonzo looked ahead on the gaming floor, seeing Mazza, Jerald, and Leonardo carrying some wounded gambler. They helped evacuate many of the injured, and Bianco was tasked with calling an ambulance and fire department.
“I swear to God I’ll kill Callisto when I see him,” Alonzo said.
Alonzo’s phone gave a sharp buzz, and he had expected to see the same private number that Callisto had used in calling him severally, but he saw it was Piccolo.
He stepped aside to take the call. “Hey man, got anything?” Alonzo roared.
“Yeah, just a dead body,” Piccolo said.
“Callisto figured out our move. What the hell is that sound?” There was a siren blaring from an ambulance that had just arrived.
Alonzo had been pretty sure he told Bianco to request multiple ambulances, so why had only one come? Then he saw a second and a third one, and he breathed in relief.
The Casino up ahead was going down bit by bit in flames. His heart ached for those who had died. If he had just followed Callisto’s demands… no, it wasn’t his fault!
“Alonzo,” Piccolo said. “What the hell? Are those sirens?”
“Yes, Pico, the bombs were detonated a few minutes ago.”
“Oh my God, are the crew alright?”
“Yes, we survived, but there are many dead and more injured. So you mean to tell me we are cold on Callisto’s trail?”
“Unfortunately,” Piccolo replied. “What now?”
“Come back to the Casino, and we will talk about it,” Alonzo said.
His grandfather was talking to the local authorities in Alonzo’s stead, but he had to step in and take over.
“Good Day, officer,” Alonzo said. “Granddad, thanks. I will take over from here.”
Alonzo explained that the casino had just exploded. He said he had no idea who set off the bomb, but he and his family were lucky to be alive.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Alonzo, this must be traumatic,” said the officer.
“I need you to answer a few more questions. Who do you feel is targeting your casino and why?”
“I don’t know,” Alonzo replied.
“You’ve got to do better than that, Mr. Alonzo,” the officer said, almost frowning.
“First, your casino was raided by men who opened fire at your customers, and now this. Our team has been investigating you, and I know you are a Mafiosi. We believe you are the Don.”
“Nonsense, that’s an outrageous claim. Do you have proof to back it up?” Alonzo said.
“Not yet, but we will,” the officer assured.
“Oh, we’ll get proof. In the meantime, this casino will be shut down permanently by order of the state’s government.”
“People lost their lives, and everything has been destroyed. You aren’t shutting anything down because the casino doesn’t exist anymore.”
“Oh, I said that just in case you had plans to rebuild and are considering reopening.”
Alonzo didn’t have time for the officer. Right now, all he wanted to do was locate Callisto, kill him and whoever was with him, and rescue his mate.
“Officer, are we done here?” Alonzo asked.
“For now, but we will be in touch.”The guards were chatting with the police officers. The police were doing more than just talking. They were interrogating.
Alonzo thought he could go to prison if things weren’t handled properly. He scoffed at the thought because it looked impossible. Imagine the Don who set people free from prison going to jail. That would be ironic.
Alonzo walked away. He saw red everywhere he turned. It took him much self-control not to wolf out in front of everyone.
The firefighters had arrived while he was chatting with the officers, and they had started to fight the fire. Alonzo took in the sight of his casino half-destroyed, and his heart sank.
This was worse than the arson committed on La Corporation De Sina.
Mazza, Bianco, Jerald, and Leonardo were waiting for him.
They had been all leaning by the car. He stared at his phone, wishing he could call Callisto back as he made his way to the car. He wondered why Callisto hadn’t called him back yet.
“F**k!” Alonso yelled, kicking the tire of his car.
“Sorry, boss,” Leonardo said.
“What do we do now?” Alonzo asked. “Piccolo has lost Callisto’s trail.”
“I’m sure Callisto will call back to make another demand,” Mazza said.
“Until then, we should wait and strategize.”
“What if he kills Alyona?” Alonzo asked.
“I’m sure she’s fine,” Mazza said. “I’m sure he intends to use her to get you to come to him.”
“This is bullshit,” Alonzo declared.
“Yeah, it sucks!” Jerald whispered. They waited until Piccolo arrived before leaving in both cars.

Alyona awoke, replaceing herself wrapped around in chains. Her heart was racing fast, and she yanked the chains, but she was firmly bound.
She looked confused. Slowly she started to remember what the driver had done to her, and a chill went up her spine.
