The Alpha’s Mute Mate -
Episode 11
BROOKE
I pretended to sleep.
I knew they were all outside the door.
I don’t want to be here anymore.
I hear them leave. They seemed to have left the corridor as it is really quiet now, as before, it seemed there was talking and even some shouting.
I sat up and looked around; there was a pair of leggings and a T-shirt with underwear on the chair.
Sophia must have put them in there earlier or before she left.
I got up and moved away from the bed. I quickly got dressed. I try to be careful of the stitches on my leg and watch the cast on my arm, as the metal things are annoying me.
I looked through the door window to check to see if no one was around.
I needed to get out of here.
I walked out of my room and moved towards the front of the hospital. I opened the door; the whole corridor was quiet, and no one was around. I looked towards the window by the front door and noticed no one was there. I looked back behind me to make sure no one was around to check on me like the doctor.
I opened the door quietly and squeezed past, slipping outside.
I have nothing on my feet, but I look in both directions. There’s a car with its back door open. Maybe I can just hide in the back, and I can just get out when they stop.
I walked over and quickly climbed into the back seat. I sat in the footwell on the driver’s side as the space was bigger for me. I place the blanket thrown over the back seat, pulling it over my head and body. It covers me; luckily, I’m skinny.
After a few moments, a woman climbs into the car but shouts out to whoever she was with her. “I will be back later; I’m going to the village.”
After a few more words were exchanged, she got into the car, and the smell of perfume hit me hard; it wasn’t nice at all.
I can feel my body ache, and my arm starts to throb.
She starts the car and leaves, playing her music very loudly. I have to sit back and wait till she stops.
I just hope it doesn’t take too long, I thought.
After what seemed like ages, she stops and gets out. She doesn’t lock the car but leaves it open. “Finally, I get to see you, baby,” she says in a husky voice to whoever she sees. “Come on, come inside,” says the person, who I think sounded like a man.
I moved the blanket from my head and looked around. The coast was clear, and I opened the door and slipped out, closing the door quietly behind me. I looked to each side of the car. It was parked by a row of houses; I knew where I was. After moving around again, the house wasn’t far from here when we moved to the house.
I walked away from the car and placed my injured wrist across my waist.
I walked as fast but quietly as I could, checking over my shoulder to make sure no one was behind me.
I don’t want people to know where I was, especially from that place.
I looked around, noticing the house in the distance.
As I approached, I walked up the driveway, scared that they might be there. It looked dark inside; there were no lights on, no movement. I opened the door to replace nothing. No furniture, nothing what’s so ever.
Where the hell was Aubrey and Madison?
Hell, where was all the furniture?
I walked inside; it was freezing. By the looks of it, no one has been here in a few weeks. I could tell due to spider webs and the dust collected in places.
I think I’m safe here. I stood there, looking around until my eyes landed on the door.
A shiver runs down my spine as I look at it.
I walk towards the door, the horrid door that kept me prisoner for years, the door to my torment and torture.
I couldn’t help but rub my arm where the scars were left behind.
I opened the door, and I appeared down the steps. I made my way down the steps and looked around.
The room still looked the same, and the mattress was still there.
But I glanced at the corner where dried b***d was on the floor, where the last torture occurred.
I shudder at the sight.
I looked around and saw the blanket that Austin gave me; that was the only thing that gave me trouble. Aubrey never wanted me to be safe or to be warm.
I walked over and picked up the blanket. I place it around me.
I walked back up the steps and towards the door, but something was blocking the doorway.
Oh no.
It is enormous, and it has big brown eyes.
It was the wolf from that place.
How the hell did it replace me?
I opened my mouth but closed it quickly.
The wolf looks at me and c***s its head at me. He moves back; I watch as the wolf moves away and out of my sight.
I shake badly, but I need to get out of here. I pull the blanket closer to me, trying to keep the cold off me.
I slowly walk up the steps and prepare myself for the wolf, but when I get to the doorway and look around. It wasn’t near the door or even in the room. I looked towards the front door, and it was sitting, with the front door closed behind it, watching me.
I stepped out, looking at it.
My eyes never leave the wolf; I know my nerves are getting the best of me, and I start to shake more.
I closed the basement door behind me and slid down the door, still watching the wolf.
He watches my every move.
He never takes his eyes off me.
He took a step closer, but I shook my head, opening my mouth, “No, stay,” I mouthed to him.
The wolf stops and c***s his head to the side, looking at me, but suddenly he slides down. His paws are outstretched in front of him, they are massive paws.
I keep looking at him, and he does the same to me.
A tear slides down my cheek, and I wipe it away.
It feels like hours go by as I watch the wolf. I watch as the wolf places its head on his front paws and closes his eyes.
I started to feel tiredness setting in. I want to sleep, but I don’t want to.
I look at the wolf once more, but his head is down, softly snoring.
There is a good few feet between us.
Sophia said he wouldn’t hurt me, and I needed to believe that.
My eyes were getting heavy, and I knew I would soon drift into the darkness of sleep, as my eyes still looked at the wolf as they drew to a close.
I fell asleep hard, and I was exhausted.
