Episode 21

HUDSON

I was on cloud nine. The sketch Brooke drew of Asher captured all his details. She’s amazing. Asher loved everything about the drawing and her.

When we read the message on the back, it made our hearts melt. “Hudson and Asher, this is for you. I want to get to know you both. I know Willow does too,” it had said.

I stared at Brooke as she walked away with Jackson and Alanna; she had come a long way in the last few days since getting her out of the clutches of that horrible woman.

“You look like the wolf that got the cream,” says Daisy with a smirk on her face.

I handed her the sketch. She read the message and smiled at me. “I’m so happy she is willing to take a chance on you both.”

I smiled at her.

“It’s weird to think that Brooke is a shifter, but why won’t Willow say what she is,” she asks, stunned.

“I knew her mother was a shifter, but she never showed me or any of us what she was. She said it was a family secret,” says my mother, who comes to the side of Daisy, looking at the message and sketch in Daisy’s hand.

“She is talented,” she says and smirks at me. “You have to make sure you win her over now.”

I chuckle. “I think I can manage that.”

Asher was doing a happy dance in my head. “Mate’s happy. I like the picture. I want to mark and mate with mate,” he says. I laughed. “Hang on a second; let’s take our time; she is still nervous around us.”

“That was impressive,” says Alpha Josh. “I wonder what shifter she is.”

I forgot that Alpha Josh and Todd were still here. I looked at him and smiled, but Todd came over to the rest of us with a scowl on his face. “That b***h is hard work,” he said with a grunt. He looked in the direction of my mate.

“You have a mate who is special,” he says suddenly.

I looked at him.” I know.”

“I would like to make sure Kelsey doesn’t leave here. She is in the cells, and I can’t deal with her now. Is it ok if we stay for a few days till we get transport? But as she has been in contact with the people you are looking for, and maybe they are probably looking for her.” Todd says and looks at his brother. “Maybe, little brother, you may replace your mate here.”

Alpha Josh laughed. “I don’t want a mate just yet, but we will stay if it’s ok with you.” He looked at me.

I nodded at him.

Everyone was talking and laughing. I moved away and stood by the steps.

“My brother needed this didn’t he,” says Lesley, looking over at her brother and his family.

I looked back at her as she was standing beside me. “I wish I had stayed, I would have kicked his a*s for leaving this pack, and maybe nothing would have happened to Brooke,” she says with a hint of guilt.

Lesley might be good-looking, but she was the life and soul of the party back in the day.

I smirked. “Then you would have been marked and mated to Beta Logan,” I said, but she shoves her elbow into my side. “Less of that, young Alpha.”

“I heard my name,” blurts Beta Logan, grinning.

Lesley pulls a face at him. “Why are you here?” She says with a frown.

“Well, you are my mate, and I have been waiting for four years for you,” he says. “I think I deserve something.” All of a sudden, all I hear next is a loud slap. Lesley’s hand slapped his face so hard that a handprint was left on his cheek. “Don’t think I forgot about the b***h you were with,” she says and walks off.

Beta Logan watches Lesley walk away. “I knew she was my mate when she left, but she came home to replace me with another woman. She never rejected me. She just left,” he says. I looked at him, confused as he rubbed his red cheek. I can feel the guilt coming off him.

I looked back at him. “Well, that was stupid,” I said. “Your cousin never left my sister’s side when he found out she was his mate.”

“Yeah, but my cousin is a love sick puppy; he has loved your sister since she was young,” he says and turns to walk away, but we hear the loud growl and roar coming from the direction where Jackson, Alanna and Brooke were.

I sprinted over to them with Beta Logan hot on my heels.

As I got to the clearing, Jackson had shifted into his wolf, Drake. Drake had been on edge before when we were looking for Brooke. He wanted his pup back.

Brooke looks scared.

“Willow is telling her to……” says Asher begins, but what we see next is Brooke running straight to Drake, wrapping her arms around his neck. He stops shaking violently as soon as she touches him. We all stare back at the sight before us. Brooke was scared of wolves, even Asher.

“Willow told her to do it,” says Asher in shock, looking through my eyes.

“You can hear Willow,” I asked him, and he nodded. “Yeah, she let me in, but I still don’t know what she is, but she is fantastic.”

“You are one softie, aren’t you,” I said to him with a slight smirk on my face.

“I am when it comes to mate; I love them both,” he says, watching Brooke.

After a few heartbreaking moments, I noticed she was looking at me.

I smiled at her, but she blushed.

God, she’s damn cute when she blushes, I thought.

But suddenly, my father’s aura comes through, “SHE DID WHAT?” roars my father. He turned to me, opened a mind linked to me, and told me what Jackson had just told him. “That b***h used electroconvulsive therapy on Brooke,” says my father.

Both Asher and I growled loudly.

“We need to replace that b***h and that rogue soon,” I said.

“We will, my son,” he says, closing the mind link between us.

Jackson looks at me and smiles. “I finally have my princess back,” he says through the mind link. “Come with us for a walk, please.”

I nodded my head with a smile on my face. I know Asher wants to spend time with Brooke and Willow.

Jackson asks Brooke about me coming with them. To my surprise, she agrees with it, which makes me happy.

Asher howls and starts to act like a horny dog in my head. It is hard to calm him down, but I admit I can’t help but feel the same.
