The Alpha’s Mute Mate -
Episode 36
DAISY
It has been two weeks since Brooke had her memories back and Brooke still hasn’t come back to the surface.
Willow’s worried as she hasn’t even spoken to her. She looks pale, she hates the human form.
My mother and Adonis have arrived; she left after the first time but has now come back as we are all concerned about Brooke.
When she was here the first time around Willow explained everything and even showed her the memory ball which scared my mother half to death but once it sunk in that Hudson knew where Brooke was a year or so ago and also Jackson knew about the abuse. She was pissed like I was. She wants to kill him but I think she might have to wait in line as there are at least three other people here who would kill him first.
We are all worried about Brooke; I want to speak to my friend.
Willow and my mother followed me around and I even printed off my photos to show Brooke when she had confidence. My mother was amazed at all the work that they did but now it has all gone away.
Willow is fast asleep, but I can tell she is dreaming.
I look at her but I step onto the balcony where my mother is looking at the view.
“Your father wants to know when you are coming back,” she asks softly, looking through the window, checking on Willow.
“What did you say and tell him?” I asked as I sit on the chair on the opposite side of her.
She looks back at the view “I told him, you will be back soon and that I would replace out what the plan is. Adonis is coming with me when I leave as he needs to talk to your father about a business plan.”
After a few moments “I will come home with you” I say to her without looking at her, I know she is staring at me but I carry on “I’m missing Rex. I don’t want to speak to Hudson, I will be giving him the silent treatment but I need to see my mate.”
“You shouldn’t give your brother the silent treatment” comes a voice from behind me; Willow comes around and sits in between us.
“You want me to be calm and think nothing of it,” I tell her but she shakes her head, “You both tell him what I showed you, Brooke has all her memories back and what she remembers.”
Both my mother and I look back at her but she has a blank expression on her face.
After a few moments, Willow looks back at us with a big smile on her face “Guess who has put the block down and wants to come back.”
“Brooke,” both my mother and I say at the same time.
She nods; Willow closes her eyes and c***s her head to one side.
Her eyes open and they are not black orbs anymore, they are blue.
“Brooke?” I say in a weak voice, god I have missed my friend. I don’t wait for her to say or sign; I grab her into a bear hug. All of a sudden my mother’s arms are wrapped around us both.
All three of us are there huddled together, sobbing into one another.
After a few moments, the door bursts open and Joe wraps his arms around Brooke, like a lost brother. He is sobbing and she is. Adonis looks on; we all have waited for Brooke to come back.
After all the crying and hugging stopped. Brooke sighs and starts to sign, I translate for my mother “I’m sorry I went, I was in so much pain. I had to wrap my head around everything I saw. Willow was telling you I had a block up but I didn’t most nights I was talking to her. I needed to think about things and everything I saw. I know more now than I ever had. I love you four so much and Willow too” she says.
We all look at her, we all can understand but I need to know something else.
“Brooke, can you tell us a little bit more of what you saw?” I ask.
She looks at me and gives me a weak smile, she looks around but Joe hands her a notebook. She starts to write. After ten minutes she hands me the piece of paper and I read it out loud, my stomach turns as I skim over it. My mother isn’t going to like this.
“She says, I remember loads but there is so many to go through and I will, but like Sassy said, I will tell Joe and we can work them out together” I look up and see Joe nod and smile at her “As for telling you something else, there was a reason why I didn’t want to talk to my father, he was always drunk but he used to say horrible things to me while he was in a bad state. He told me once before he went to that market day that he wished I was dead, not my mother.”
I look up at my mother who has gritted her teeth, we all know Jackson had a drinking problem “Brooke, he didn’t mean it” she says “he was drunk” but Brooke shakes her head and starts to sign, Joe takes over to tell us what she is saying.
“Yeah well he was drunk all the time in the house, he stumbled into the basement to where I was sleeping but never said a word. He knew what Aubrey and Madison did to me and he even………” but Joe stops there, a growl slips past his lips but Brooke looks at him and stares, through gritted teeth “he was the one he stubbed out cigarettes on her.”
I snarl “He did what?”
My mother shakes her head, she doesn’t believe her but Willow comes through and they are as one and she sends a memory ball up to show us all. Once it disappears, my mother moves out of the chair and heads into the room.
“She is angry at me” signs Brooke but Adonis shakes her head “She’s not angry at you dear, she is angry at your father, she just mind link me to tell me she is going for a walk to clear her head.”
After a few moments, both men leave the room to make some food. I grab my suitcase and start to pack my things.
Brooke is sitting on her bed, writing something.
Once I’m packed, my mother comes in and smiles at us “I am sorry about leaving but I think Daisy and I will leave tonight” she says and I nod.
I look at Brooke who has just placed a piece of paper into an envelope and sealed it.
She hands it to me with the name on it, Hudson.
I look at her and she starts to sign, my mother looking at her and then to me “she says that she wrote Hudson a letter which will explain things and hopefully it will ease some of his concerns” but what she signs next has me torn, once she stops both of us are crying, Adonis and my mother is standing in the doorway, Adonis must have told my mother what she said “No, you can’t stay here forever” she says in a whisper but tears are flowing freely down all of our cheeks except for Adonis. He looks on.
“I have to stay here….” mouths Brooke, she is broken.
“I will come back but I don’t know when, I will come back when you need me to but only if you need me to….but Daisy” she mouths and points to me “is the only one who can get hold of me.”
I nod and look at my mother; Joe comes in and sits with Brooke on her bed.
We all hug and say our goodbyes. I don’t know when I will see my friend again but I need to go home and see my mate, but I also have to make sure Hudson and Jackson get my full attention too.
Adonis, my mother and I head to the airport and board the plane, no one says anything. My mother and Adonis make small talk but no one is in the mood to talk. We are all heartbroken for Brooke; her memories come back hard for her and she even hides away to deal with them all by herself.
After five hours on the plane and another two hours by car, all three of us are back at the packhouse.
As soon as we pull up, Hudson is outside. I can’t even look at him.
“Where’s Brooke?” he asks but all three of us just walk past him but he grabs my arm “Daisy, what’s wrong?”
I look at him, but I only move to my pocket and pull out the envelope Brooke gave me. I handed it to him and walked away. He stared at me and opened the letter.
My mother phoned ahead and told my father we needed to talk to him but as soon as I got to the office door, Hudson let out a loud roar and ran out the front door. Rex comes out and notices I am there but before I could say anything, the girl in question is standing next to him.
“Daisy,” he says.
I glared at him and walked into my father’s office. I shut the door before Rex had a chance to register what has happened.
