THE BILLIONAIRE IS INFATUATED WITH HIS EX-LOVER
Chapter 23: Competition in the marketplace

After exhausting every method to persuade Sara, Leon grew increasingly discontented, his mood swings becoming more erratic. He expressed daily frustration with his subordinates at the company, especially towards Mark. Having reviewed the contract Mark presented, Leon slammed it onto the desk, his gaze sharp and icy, muttering under his breath,

"This old man, does he want to challenge me to the end? Our fate is not yet settled. This time, I will settle old and new debts once and for all."

Mark, standing by, silently observed, sensing that trouble was brewing.

"Offer a 50 percent discount on our new product to all wholesale partners and organize a lucky draw for retail customers, with the grand prize being an apartment worth two billion dongs," Leon smirked, his smile laden with ulterior motives. "How can we do that? We'll risk a significant loss." Mark couldn't believe his ears; the company had never organized such a significant event. Moreover, the cost of the event was substantial, which could impact the profit. Tan Wei tried to dissuade him, but Leon ignored him, even becoming irritated.

"Inform the marketing and sales departments to proceed immediately. I want this news on the front page of newspapers and major media outlets by tomorrow. Make it a big event so that old man realizes our strength." Leon propped his chin, and his satisfaction was evident.

"Yes, I'll get it started right away." Feeling powerless against Leon's determination, Mark found no other way. He complied with the order.

After Mark left, Leon drew the curtains open, allowing light to flood in as he gazed through the glass wall at the scenery outside, his hand idly twirling his phone.

"Sara, you will have to come back to me."

Meanwhile, Mr. Roberts was also plotting his retaliation against Leon for ruining the wedding and wasting all his efforts.

As Mr. Roberts reviewed this quarter's financial report, Mr. Scott entered, his face fraught with worry.

"Boss, I've got wind of LT Company launching an unprecedented promotional strategy. I suspect their target is us."

Mr. Roberts frowned, attentively listening to his trusted subordinate's detailed report. Anger flared in his voice,

"That bastard, if he exists, there won't be a Mr. Roberts standing here." Mr. Roberts gestured for Mr. Scott to come closer, whispering detailed instructions.

Mr. Roberts started his career as a humble sales marketing employee, facing numerous demanding customers and partners. His strategies of competing for markets and customers or undermining each other were familiar. However, facing someone he once considered insignificant brought a completely different feeling.

If Leon was deemed a weaker opponent four years ago, it was uncertain whether Mr. Roberts still held the upper hand now.

Externally, Mr. Roberts appeared unfazed but was somewhat annoyed internally. He wondered what capabilities that young man from years past had acquired that allowed him to stand against him now confidently.

On the first day of the promotional campaign, LT Company's cosmetic sales surged dramatically. Customers had to queue for over two hours to purchase their products. The factory had to ramp up production to the maximum capacity to meet the market demand.

Leon, eyeing the continuously surging revenue chart with satisfaction, turned to Tan Wei and whispered,

"See? That older man won't last much longer before he comes to negotiate with me. Then, I'll make him realize his biggest mistake in life was underestimating and rejecting me."

Mark remained silent, fully aware that despite the spike in sales volume, the low pricing meant LT was not making much profit. Should market conditions shift or input costs suddenly rise, LT could face the risk of losses. The promotional campaign could be sustainable for a short period, but extending it might lead to significant damage.

Mark couldn't comprehend why an intelligent, capable person like Leon would deliberately head down a dead-end, especially when he had better options. Could it all be because of Sara?

Mark's disdain for Sara grew, believing Leon's life would have taken a different path had he not reencountered her.

Lost in thought, Mark was startled when Leon called out loudly,

"Mark, check what preparations we'd need if we extend the program for another month. Given the current situation, it won't be long before we dominate the domestic market and lay the groundwork for international expansion." "It's not feasible. We've already cut the product price by 50 percent, significantly reducing our profit margin. Continuing the program might not be beneficial. We might end up hurting ourselves in the process." Mark could no longer keep silent, advising Leon to stop, asserting that teaching them a lesson had already been sufficient.

"Princess Cosmetics is a do-or-die competitor for us. I will pay the price if this promotional campaign can help LT secure a dominant position."

Leon's firm words tense the meeting room; no one dared to speak aside from Mark. They feared that a slip of the tongue could cost them their "rice bowl."

"I know you are loyal to me and dedicated to the company, but this is a major matter. Once I've made up my mind, it cannot be changed. I refuse to believe I can't achieve great things in this lifetime." Leon surveyed all the employees present and declared confidently:

"We live in a competitive business world. To survive, we must grow stronger day by day. You all came here not just to work but to assert yourselves. Therefore, I will duly recognize everyone's contributions to the company."

The usually cold and quick-tempered CEO's sudden motivational encouragement surprised them. Perhaps this goal wasn't solely about settling old scores but also about realizing a long-cherished dream: to reign supreme globally.
