The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 112 Meeting the Rival in Love

Being pregnant often caused a rapid heartbeat, especially when faced with sudden, intense situations.

But Michael had no clue about any of this, and he definitely didn't know Emily was pregnant.

He just thought it was weird. Sure, it made sense for Emily's heart to race when she saw Daniel, but why was it racing when she was at the old mansion with Mason? Was there something else going on? Or maybe he was just so tired that his own heart was acting up?

Michael couldn't figure it out and thought about calling Emily.

But then, a nurse came over with some good news, so he put down the phone and let out a big sigh of relief.

"The patient is fine now. As long as she takes care of herself and doesn't get too stressed, she'll be okay," the nurse said.

With that, the nurse opened the door to the operating room, and they wheeled out an unconscious Veda.

Michael was over the moon and wanted to thank the doctor, but when he looked up, he was shocked.

It turned out to be true that people who didn't get along always seemed to run into each other. Veda's doctor was none other than Daniel. Facing his rival in love, Michael didn't back down, especially after what happened at the Japanese restaurant today, which still had him fuming.

"Dr. Wilson, what a coincidence, running into you again," Michael said.

Seeing Michael's sour face, Daniel wasn't about to make things easy either.

He just kept talking to the nurse next to him, totally ignoring Michael.

"Daniel, I'm talking to you," Michael added.

It wasn't until Michael couldn't hold back and called his name that Daniel pretended to notice him. "Michael, do you need something? If not, I'm really busy and don't have time to chat."

"I do need something," Michael said.

"Then go ahead," Daniel replied.

Watching them go back and forth, the nurse could feel the tension in the air, even though the conversation seemed normal.

"I want to transfer Veda to another hospital," Michael said.

"Why?" Daniel asked.

"I think your medical resources here aren't good enough. I want to take Veda to a better hospital," Michael replied.

"Mr. Smith, feel free to do so. This is your family matter, not something the doctor needs to be involved in. But I should inform you that transferring her now could affect her treatment. In that case, this hospital won't be responsible," Daniel said.

There was no way around it; this wasn't the Smith Corporation, but Daniel's turf.

Since he said it would affect Veda, Michael couldn't force the transfer.

But seeing Daniel really ticked him off. "Then change the doctor. You can manage that, can't you, Dr. Wilson?"

As soon as he said this, the nurse was completely shocked. She didn't expect Michael from the Smith Corporation to be so bold! He actually said this right in front of Daniel!

Usually, patients were fighting to have Daniel treat them, but Michael wanted to switch doctors? Was there some deep-seated grudge between the Smith and Wilson families? While the nurse was lost in her thoughts, Daniel spoke again. "Michael, some things can be resolved privately. No need to make everyone awkward, right?" Finally, he couldn't hold back and showed a gloomy face to Michael.

But Michael's presence was still stronger than Daniel's.

Even though both came from wealthy families and their statuses weren't that different, Michael had been through countless business battles and had seen all kinds of people. In confrontations, he had plenty of experience, so he wasn't about to be intimidated by a doctor like Daniel.

"Awkward? As a family member of the patient, if I request a change of doctor, the only one losing face would be you, not me," Michael said.

"You..." Daniel was momentarily speechless, his brows furrowing even deeper.

Just as Michael was about to turn and leave, Daniel called out to him again.

Daniel knew exactly what kind of person Michael was. If he were reasonable, Emily wouldn't have had such a hard time with him.

"Michael, since you want to talk about personal matters, fine. Today, we happen to run into each other again, and with Emily not around, let me speak my mind," Daniel said.

"I'm pursuing Emily, and I won't give up. As soon as you two get divorced, I'll confess to her immediately. I want to take care of her for the rest of my life. At that time, please don't continue to bother her as her ex-husband." He emphasized the word "ex-husband" to remind Michael.

Michael would soon have no chance to act all high and mighty in front of him, warning him to stay away from Emily. In other words, it was over between Michael and Emily.

Hearing this, Michael felt uncomfortable.

His eyelids twitched, and his fists clenched, but he didn't show it in front of Daniel.

He just let out a cold snort and continued walking until his figure disappeared at the end of the corridor.

Meanwhile, at the old mansion.

"Grandpa, this won't do! Grandpa, this is too precious. I really can't accept it. I'm about to divorce Michael..." Emily protested.

"Take it." Before Emily could refuse, Mason, with quick reflexes, had already slipped the ring onto her finger.

"I know you're divorcing Michael. But that's a separate matter, Emily. This pink star diamond ring was given to my love by my mother. It was meant to be passed down to Michael's mother," Mason explained. Hearing this, Emily was surprised. "You were going to give it to Scarlett."

Unexpectedly, although Mason seemed dissatisfied with Scarlett on the surface, he still considered her part of the family in his heart.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have thought of giving her this ring.

"But she..." Mason sighed and said to Emily, "So I'll just give it to you directly. You're divorcing Michael, but you're my acknowledged granddaughter-in-law. Seeing you wear it makes me happy."

As Mason finished speaking, he looked at the ring, his eyes shining as if recalling the past.

Emily looked at it too. She knew a bit about appreciating antique diamonds.

With a closer look, Emily could tell that this ring was cut in an antique cushion shape, internally flawless, and one of the rarest, most vivid pink diamonds in the world.

"In the future, whether Michael remarries or marries that Sophia, it's up to him! In any case, I don't acknowledge it!" Mason said, then looked at Emily again.

At that moment, the reluctance in his eyes made Emily feel very sad. "Grandpa..."

"Emily, take care of yourself. I agree with your decision to divorce Michael. You have the right to pursue your own happiness, not to be burdened with the Smith family's troubles. It's too much of a delay for you," Mason said. Mason's words left Emily completely at a loss. She didn't really feel that the Smith family owed her anything.

She just felt that not getting Michael's love was her own failure, and that she and Michael were simply not meant to be.
