Chapter 116 Sophia's Schemes and Plots

"Sophia, what the heck are you doing?" Evelyn shouted, thinking Sophia had lost it.

She rushed over, trying to yank the face mask off Sophia.

Sophia dodged, but accidentally spilled the red wine all over Evelyn.

"Mom, chill out! What's with the drama?" Sophia snapped.

"Are you deaf? There are reporters swarming downstairs, waiting for you to say something. Didn't you hear them?" Evelyn shot back.

Evelyn frowned at the red wine stain on her dress. It had cost a fortune, and now it was ruined. Just her luck!

But there were bigger problems to deal with. They had to get through this scandal and save the Brown family's reputation.

Otherwise, forget about fancy dresses; even buying clothes from a street vendor would get her drowned in spit!

"Yeah, I heard. It was so loud, probably the whole neighborhood heard it! Is this really worth freaking out over? Where's dad?" Sophia asked.

Sophia walked over to the trash can, ripped off the face mask, and casually sat down in front of the makeup mirror.

"Your dad's downstairs! I never realized he was so useless. Now you're being called a homewrecker, Brown Corporation is in chaos, and he's just hiding at home. What was I thinking when I married him?" Evelyn ranted.

Evelyn was genuinely regretting it. If it weren't for Hayden's money, she wouldn't have had a daughter with him, bearing the name of a homewrecker to marry into the Brown family.

"Sophia, don't worry, don't get mad. I'll make sure your dad replaces a way to fix this! If that doesn't work, we'll go to the Smith family, make Michael divorce Emily quickly, and marry you. We'll say Michael had already divorced Emily, they had no feelings for each other, and you two are truly in love!" Evelyn said.

As soon as Evelyn finished speaking, Sophia's eyes lit up. "Mom! We really are two peas in a pod. You truly get me!"

"Get you?" Evelyn was confused.

"How did you know I leaked the news to marry Michael quickly?" Sophia asked.

"You leaked the news?" Evelyn said, stunned.

So it turned out that the ones bringing about their own downfall were the Brown family themselves!

Evelyn was dumbfounded. "Sophia, say that again? You orchestrated the photos, had them posted online, causing the entire internet to boycott Smith Corporation and utterly ruin Michael's reputation overnight?"

Seeing Sophia nod, Evelyn suddenly felt a headache coming on. "Are you nuts? Why did you do that? Now everyone will start feeling sorry for Emily!"

"And even though Smith Corporation is the biggest company in Emerald City, it's still going to take a hit from this! Sophia, you're going to marry into that family; you're hurting yourself!" Evelyn continued. Hurting herself? What was Evelyn talking about? Not marrying into the Smith family would be a real disaster! Sophia knew this all too well.

She had seen through Emily and Michael's little game a long time ago. Emily wanted to stay in the Smith family, basking in its wealth and status. Michael wanted to have his cake and eat it too, keeping both her and Emily. But come on, there was no such thing as a perfect solution in this world. Did they think she, Sophia, was a fool?

So, in a moment of desperation, Sophia came up with a foolproof plan. She arranged for Michael to go out for dinner, then paid someone to follow and snap some photos.

Unexpectedly, they ran into Emily at the Japanese restaurant. But luckily, Michael always stuck by her side, so Sophia clung to Michael, acting all lovey-dovey, making it look like Michael and Emily were on opposite sides. This way, in front of the camera, it would seem like their marriage was on the rocks, maybe even over.

When the public opinion storm hit, people would think Emily and Michael's marriage was already broken. The position of the lady of the Smith family would be up for grabs.

Evelyn never expected her daughter to be so ruthless. She ended up dragging their entire family into it.

Evelyn said anxiously, "But now our Brown family is caught in a media storm, and the stock might keep plummeting! What should we do now?"

"Mom, why are you still worried about that? If I really marry Michael, the Smith family can easily help us with all that stock stuff!" Sophia said.

Sophia already had a plan. She knew that without sacrifice, there would be no great reward, and she had even thought of a way to kill two birds with one stone.

"Mom, before Dad comes upstairs, let me give you a good plan. You've always been worried about our Brown Corporation shares! And you're afraid that Dad would give them all to Emily if he softened." Sophia continued. Sophia's reminder made Evelyn's face instantly darken, and she gritted her teeth. "Yes, those are the shares I've painstakingly schemed for half my life! If Emily takes it all, how could I bear it!"

"So, I kept some information to myself." Sophia raised her eyebrows and quickly explained the pros and cons of her plan to Evelyn.

Evelyn didn't get it at first, but soon she caught on. "So you mean, make your dad think Emily leaked the news? This way, your dad would never let Emily take all our Brown Corporation's shares! And then you can marry Michael, and I can keep these shares for my retirement!"

Hearing this, Sophia nodded proudly. In her view, her plan was flawless, absolutely brilliant!

Now they just needed to act separately. She would cry in front of Michael, and Evelyn would cry in front of Hayden. Together, they would push all the blame onto Emily.
