The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 195 Request for Reconciliation

"Michael! It's really you! I thought I was dreaming! I'm so happy you finally came to see me!" Sophia's face lit up the moment she saw Michael at the door. She quickly put on her best "good girl" act and rushed over to hug him. That familiar scent of his cologne, that warm and comforting embrace! Sophia's smile grew wider. She felt like she had won again against that fake Emily.

Michael asked, "Were you getting your nails done?"

His voice was a bit raspy, and he looked exhausted. But even as he asked Sophia, he couldn't help but glance warily at her belly.

Sophia knew she was almost caught.

Luckily, getting nails done wasn't harmful to pregnant women. And even if it was, she could always play dumb. Everything else was almost perfect, and Michael wouldn't suspect over something so small.

As long as she played her part well, becoming Michael's wife was within reach.

She quickly grabbed Michael's hand and pouted. "Michael, I went to your office, but you weren't there. You've been gone for days, and I was so worried about you."

"Today, my mom wanted to get her nails done. She saw I was upset and insisted I join her. I didn't expect you to show up. Don't worry, I'm fine, and the baby... is fine too."

Sophia blushed as she spoke. The nearby servant turned away, not wanting to get involved.

Seeing this, Michael got goosebumps. Especially when Sophia mentioned the "baby," he was at a loss for words.

These past few days, Michael had locked himself in his room, thinking he was ready to face the child in Sophia's belly and Emily's accusations and departure.

But now, it felt impossible. He couldn't face the child in Sophia's womb, nor could he face Emily's departure and the empty, silent Emerald Lake Manor without Ceviche or the sound of vomiting.

Thinking about it all, Michael felt ridiculous. He couldn't help but sneer at himself, and Sophia's smile faltered.

"Sophia, come with me. I need to ask you something." Michael pulled her out of the Brown Villa door.

The door closed with a thud.

Evelyn sat calmly in the living room, having heard the entire conversation.

Although Sophia had used her as an excuse in a moment of desperation, and Evelyn cursed her inwardly, if Michael really believed it and married Sophia for the sake of the child, she would become the mother-in-law of the Smith family, which wasn't bad.

Whether Michael believed Sophia was pregnant, Evelyn didn't know.

But having used the exact same tactic to get into the Brown family herself, she knew all too well that this was the quickest and easiest way to marry into a wealthy family.

If Evelyn could do it, so could her daughter.

Men, after all, with a bit of sweet talk, some deception, and a little coquettish behavior, would give anything-money, status, fame, you name it.

The manicurists said, "Madam, your toenails are done."

Evelyn replied, "Done? They look great!"

The manicurists then asked, "About the payment for you and your daughter..."

Evelyn waved them off, "No rush on the payment. Come on, help me with my fingernails too. I'm in a good mood today, and I'll give you double the tip when you're done! Besides, my daughter will have plenty of money in the future!" Meanwhile, Sophia pointed at her phone and said, "This is the electronic certificate from the hospital. I was going to email it to you, but I thought you were busy lately, so I didn't want to bother you. And this... the baby is very healthy. Don't worry, I've checked everything that needs to be checked."

"Michael, I dream of giving you a son. Although we don't know if this baby is a boy or a girl, don't worry, I'll try my best. If it's not a boy this time, it will be next time..." Before Sophia could finish her sweet talk, Michael couldn't take it anymore.

He had feelings for Sophia before and thought about marrying her and having children, but things had changed. Now, he only wanted to be with Emily.

Michael knew he had been reckless before. He shouldn't have promised Sophia so much so quickly, and he shouldn't have driven Emily away in his youthful arrogance.

But now, it felt like he didn't even have a chance to fix his mistakes. He had lost to himself and this suddenly appearing child.

Michael asked, "Sophia, do you really want this child?" This time, Michael wanted to follow Sophia's wishes. After all, she was the one connected to the child, and she had the right to decide the child's fate. If she wanted it, he would have to take responsibility for the child.

Hearing this question, Sophia was displeased but still answered firmly and joyfully. "Of course! I want to have your child, Michael. I dream of it. You know, I've always wanted to marry you and have a happy family with you." She was about to say she wanted to move into the Smith Mansion to take care of Mason, but she feared Michael's suspicion, so she swallowed the words.

He finally sighed and replied to Sophia, "Okay, then we'll have this child. Sophia, let's get back together."

The coldness from the bottom of her heart spread to her fingertips. Emily never expected that an anonymous call she answered by chance would have been about Michael on the other end.

It was him, who went to replace Sophia, firmly asking Sophia to get back together after disappearing for days. They were getting back together. Then what about her? What did she count for? Emily bit her lip hard, trying not to let the tears fall, her mouth twitching but refusing to make a sound.

And she, in the end, was out of the game. Or maybe she was never in the game. Michael loved Sophia, and he could rightfully marry her. As for herself and the child in her belly, it was a mistake from the beginning. Even if Michael knew, he wouldn't easily ask her to keep it. He would only see it as a burden, just like her, a burden to the Smith family, a burden to Michael.

They should stay away from here, away from the Smith family and Michael.
