The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 46 Mr. Smith's Scandal

Emily had no clue how Michael was going to calm Sophia down, but she knew he had to be fuming right now. Mason had always kept him out of the entertainment world because the Smith family had this strict no-scandal policy. But who would've thought Michael's first scandal would involve two women? One was a famous actress, and the other was the Brown Family heiress.

Of course, Emily got dragged into it too. As Michael's wife, people online were buzzing, "Why hasn't she said anything? Are they already talking divorce?"

Emily couldn't help but chuckle. The netizens were sharp enough to guess they might be thinking about splitting up.

She found it funny but also wondered how Michael would deal with this mess. The plagiarism drama had just cooled down, and now Sophia was stirring the pot again.

She and Abigail were having a laugh about it when Mason called. He jumped right in, "Emily, did Michael screw up again? What's with the news?"

Emily tried to calm him down, "Grandpa, it's all nonsense. Michael's being set up."

Mason pressed on, "And Sophia? What's her deal? How'd she get tangled up with Michael again?"

Emily figured Michael would have to explain that one himself.

Finally, Mason sighed over the phone, "Emily, you're Michael's wife. You need to keep him in check. He just took over the Smith Corporation, and I know he's a young hothead. I know you're tired, but please, keep him in line. If no one reins him in, he might end up in a bad place, especially with someone like Sophia."

Emily sighed too and said, "Grandpa, I get it. When Michael gets back, I'll talk to him and make sure he straightens up."

If Mason knew they were thinking about divorce, she couldn't bear to see the disappointment in his eyes.

Eventually, Emily managed to calm Mason down, and he hung up.

Abigail chimed in, "Mason really cares about you. He called you first to check on you after all this."

Emily gave a bitter smile, "Grandpa doesn't want us to divorce. If he knew I was pregnant, he'd be even more against it. I'm scared of letting him down." Her mood took a nosedive after saying that.

Abigail cursed, "This is all Michael's fault."

Just as Abigail finished her rant, Michael walked in. Abigail clammed up immediately, and Emily found it hilarious. Every time Abigail saw Michael, she'd go silent. Abigail quickly got up and said, "Call me if you need anything. I'm out." As she passed Michael, she said, "Goodbye, Mr. Smith," and then left. Michael didn't even acknowledge her.

Michael walked over to Emily, saw she seemed okay, and asked calmly, "Got anything to say about what went down yesterday and today?" Emily shot back, "Say what? Grandpa just called and gave me an earful. What more do you want to hear?" She was doing it on purpose. Michael, clearly rattled, asked, "What did Grandpa say? Is he mad? Did he chew me out again?"

Emily smirked. "What do you think?"

No need to guess; Mason definitely gave him a piece of his mind. He'd probably summon him back to the old house tomorrow. Michael sighed inwardly.

"Whatever, Grandpa's old. Let him vent." Michael plopped down in the chair across from her. Then he looked at Emily and asked, "You really have nothing to ask me?"

Emily shook her head. "Nothing to ask. I don't care what you do with other women, Michael, because we both know where this is heading, right? Don't kid yourself. What do you want to hear from me? That I don't want a divorce? That I'll beg you to stay? You know the truth. You're turning a blind eye. I'll say it again, when we have time, let's get divorced. Oh, wait, three months-you said three months. Michael, I hope we both stick to that." With that, Emily turned and went upstairs. Michael stood there, mulling over her words.

He thought, 'Yeah, what else is there to say? Even though we've been close, it doesn't change the fact that we're heading for a divorce. Emily's right; I suggested it, and I can't fool myself anymore.'

Michael sat on the couch in the living room for a long time until Ava came to remind him he could go to bed.

Michael suddenly asked, "How was Mrs. Smith today? Is her back still hurting?"

Ava was pleased to see him so concerned about Emily and said, "Mrs. Smith didn't sleep well today. I heard her go to the bathroom to throw up a few times. You should take her to the hospital when you have time." Michael nodded. "I'll take her to the hospital tomorrow."

Emily's words had left him with mixed feelings. He was really disgusted by today's trending topic involving Sophia and Thalia. So, he handed the matter over to Andrew to handle. He didn't want to deal with it anymore. He'd been feeling nauseous for days, and just when he could finally rest, Sophia stirred up trouble.

The previous scandal had just died down, and now this was trending. He really doubted if Sophia was the same girl who had saved him when he was young, the cheerful girl who always had a smile on her face. 'Is it all fake?' His heart was gradually tilting, always comparing her to Emily.

Sure enough, the next day, Mason's call came through. He knew what Mason wanted to say, but he really didn't want to deal with him right now.

Suddenly, his phone was snatched from behind, and Emily answered the call, "Grandpa, it's me. Yes, you say Michael? He went out for a morning run and hasn't come back yet. Okay, I'll tell him when he gets back. Alright, goodbye, Grandpa." Michael looked at Emily in surprise as she finished the call.
