Chapter 81 Came Looking for a Scolding
Sophia tried to keep her cool. "Emily, what are you talking about? How was I supposed to know you were in the hospital? I only found out from Michael yesterday."
Sophia's eyes sparkled with amusement, like she wanted everyone to know she was with Michael last night.
Emily couldn't be bothered to argue and said coldly, "If there's nothing else, just leave. I don't want to talk to you; it's gross."
Sophia shot Emily a look of disgust. "Aren't you worried Michael will get tired of you being so rude?"
Emily thought Sophia must be out of her mind.
She replied, "Yeah, I'm rude. If you can't handle it, then leave."
Sophia wasn't there to visit her. She tucked her hair behind her ear, showing off her delicate face, and said casually, "I came to see you because I thought you were dying. Last night, Michael came to me right after I called him. He probably didn't think of you at all. Actually, I owe you an apology. Michael insisted on staying with me because he knew I was scared at night."
"But honestly, I was fine. Michael just cares about me more," she continued her taunting. "So you were alone in the hospital last night? Michael was holding me all night. You have no idea how gentle Michael was last night. No, he was also quite naughty. But Michael has a cleanliness obsession. He's only ever been like this with me. You probably haven't experienced it."
After hearing Sophia's words, Emily felt an overwhelming urge to vomit.
Emily forced down her nausea and asked, "Michael was with you all night last night?"
Sophia smugly replied, "Of course, Michael and I were together until dawn."
Emily greatly admired Sophia's ability to lie with such brazen confidence. She smiled and then casually said to Ava, "Ava, Michael was with Miss Brown all night last night, and he still came to have breakfast with me this morning. Do you think he might be overworking himself?"
Sophia's face changed instantly upon hearing Emily's words.
Emily continued, "Ava, you should go home and make something nutritious for Michael. Otherwise, I'm afraid he might exhaust himself one day."
Ava suppressed her urge to laugh and played along with Emily, "Mrs. Smith, what are you talking about? When I came this morning, didn't I see Mr. Smith just getting out of your bed? How could he have been with Miss Brown? Miss Brown, you must be mistaken. Mr. Smith was with Mrs. Smith all night. The man with you must have been someone else. Don't slander Mr. Smith."
Emily discreetly gave Ava a thumbs-up.
Ava cast a triumphant glance at Emily.
Sophia's face turned dark with anger as she glared at Emily. She hadn't expected Michael to leave her last night and come to the hospital to be with Emily. This completely contradicted what she had said, and Sophia felt so angry and humiliated that she could hardly breathe and was on the verge of fainting.
Emily saw the unwilling and embarrassed expression on Sophia's face.
She kept going, "Sophia, you love airing your dirty laundry so much. How about I get you a megaphone, or maybe you can print some business cards and hand them out on the street? Or I could call a reporter for you? That way, everyone will know your business. Want me to call a gossip reporter right now?"
Sophia's face turned livid, and she pointed a trembling finger at Emily, "You dare mock me..."
Emily grinned, "Didn't you come here today just to get insulted? You want to be a homewrecker, but I can't be bothered. Just leave already."
Sophia was so mad she lost it. She spotted a half-full glass of water on the table, grabbed it, and was about to throw it at Emily. But her hand was caught, and Daniel's cold voice cut through the tension, "Miss Brown, this is a hospital, not a place for your drama."
Daniel flung Sophia's hand away.
Seeing it was Daniel, Sophia got a bit wary, remembering the incident in the club's private room last time.
Daniel poured Emily a fresh glass of water and asked, "You okay?"
Emily smiled. Meanwhile, Sophia watched Daniel's actions. A sudden scheme formed in her mind; it seemed Daniel's affection for Emily was indeed extraordinary, as he had come personally to take care of her.
Daniel then looked at Sophia, "Please escort this lady out."
The nurse pulled Sophia away. Sophia shook off the nurse's hand and coldly said, "I'll leave on my own."
Sophia had no choice but to leave the ward. As soon as she left the hospital, she called Veda.
In the ward, as soon as Sophia left, Emily couldn't hold it in any longer. She hurriedly got up, covered her mouth, rushed to the bathroom, and vomited into the toilet. She had a good appetite this morning and had eaten a lot. But she hadn't expected Sophia to ruin it all, and she vomited everything she had eaten. Her face turned pale, and her eyes were red; she was really disgusted.
Meanwhile, in the conference room, Michael's face suddenly changed, turning pale. He tensed up, his mouth tightly shut.
The manager, who was giving a report, saw Michael's sudden change in expression and didn't know what he had said wrong. He stopped and waited for Michael's response. Just as the manager was feeling very anxious, he saw Michael suddenly stand up and quickly run out.
Everyone in the conference room looked at each other in confusion. The manager himself began to doubt whether his report had been abysmal.
Michael hurried to the bathroom and vomited into the toilet. He had an unusually good appetite this morning and had eaten almost all the breakfast Andrew had bought. Now, he was vomiting it all out.
Back in the conference room, Andrew felt a sense of helplessness. Michael always pulled these sudden moves, but luckily, Andrew's professional skills were solid.
Andrew said, "Everyone, please wait a moment. Mr. Smith has an urgent matter to attend to."
Everyone was perplexed as to what urgent matter could be more pressing than the shareholders' meeting.
