Chapter 90

Aurelia gave a start, quickly pulling her blouse tighter around her, fearing her secret was exposed.“Isn't it pretty normal for someone who spends all day in an office to gain a little weight?” shedefended.

Avery gave a teasing smirk. “You're not married yet. You need to keep your figure in check. What ifArno loses interest in you?”

Aurelia smacked him lightly on the head. “Stop joking around, Amo and I are just good friends, nothing

more.”

"So, you're in that “more than friends but less than lovers’ stage?”

Avery pulled a face, deeply suspecting there was something more between his sister and Arno. Hewas sure they were both interested in each other, but neither had made the first move!

In Aurelia’s mind, her relationship with Arno was perfect just as it was. As he put it, a confidant wasmore valuable than a girlfriend.

A girlfriend can be replaced at any time, but a true confidant was irreplaceable.

“Your show is going to be a hit, and you'll get some recognition.”

She subtly changed the subject.

Avery scratched his head, his face falling. “Some people on set are whispering. They say I only gotthe part because I invested in the project.”

Aurelia picked up a bottle of mineral water from the table, took a sip, and her gaze drifted off intosome unknown corner outside the window.

"A few days ago, someone told me that using connections is a skill too. The world isn't fair. Tosucceed, talent alone isn’t enough. Background, connections, relationships, these all contribute tosuccess. If you can invest in the project, that's your advantage. What you need to do is use it welland let it help you succeed!”

Avery brightened up and laughed. “Aurelia, you have a way with words. You turn negative energyinto something positive.”

Aurelia lowered her head and took another sip of water, hiding a hint of sadness in her eyes.

In reality, she was filled with negative energy, so much that it threatened to overwhelm her.

“I'm going to take a nap in my room. Wake me up when it's time for dinner.”

She walked out but didn’t go to her room. Instead, she headed to the garden downstairs, wantingto clear her mind.

A handsome man approached her. “Are you Ms. Aurelia?”

She looked surprised. “Yes. Who are you?”

The man handed her a business card. She glanced at it. It was Elvis Cooper, the CEO of EtherealGems.

“Nice to meet you.”

Elvis gave a small smile. “I've been meaning to reach out to you. It's fortunate we ran into eachother here. There's a decent coffee shop nearby, would you like to join me?”

“Sure,” Aurelia nodded.

They headed to the coffee shop and sat by the window.

Elvis took a sip of his coffee and said in a low voice, “I want to apologize for what happened withKelly. She assured the assistant manager that it was her original design. We had no idea she stoleyour exhibition piece.”

“Kelly got what she deserved. The biggest victim in this scandal was Ethereal Gems, right?” Aureliadiverted the conversation, “But the PR team of Ethereal Gems is impressive. They minimized thedamage and negative impact.”

Elvis chuckled awkwardly, “Your design has rocked the entire jewelry industry. The “Secret’ series istruly original, and you've given these jewels a soul. Plus, you know how to market and capture thecuriosity of consumers. Your designs are not just artistic. They are best-sellers. However, it seemslike Astral Enterprises doesn't appreciate your talent.”

His words hit Aurelia hard.

She stirred her cup of coffee, “You can speak your mind.”
