THE DEVIL HERSELF -
Chapter 44
Scarlet walked briskly into the hospital, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts and plans. She had been informed that Scar's surgery was successful, and she needed to see for herself. As she entered the recovery room, she saw Scar lying in bed, his eyes wrapped in bandages. The sight of her, vulnerable yet strong, filled her with a mixture of relief and determination.
She turned to Lucky and Piper, who were keeping vigil by Scar's side. "Look after Scar while I'm out," she instructed, her voice firm but laced with concern.
Lucky nodded. "We'll take care of her."
Piper squeezed Scar's hand gently. "She'll be fine, Boss. We'll make sure of it."
With a final nod, Scarlet left the room, her mind already shifting to her next move. She exited the hospital and headed back to the Clan's headquarters. She needed to extract more information about the Hunters Clan from Bruce, the traitor who had caused so much pain. Sh
Entering the torture room, she found Diego already there, attempting to break Bruce's will. Bruce was a gruesome sight-both arms and legs gone, one ear missing, and his body covered in blood and bruises. Diego looked up as she approached, a grim expression on his face.
"Any progress?" Scarlet asked, her tone cold.
Diego shook his head. "Not much. He's resilient, but he's breaking."
Scarlet walked up to Bruce, her eyes devoid of pity. "Let's see if we can speed this up." Without hesitation, she took a knife and cut off Bruce's remaining ear. His scream echoed through the room, a mix of agony and despair. "Tell me about Stone and Lord Ace," Scarlet demanded, her voice icy.
Bruce, barely conscious from the pain, gasped out, "Stone... Stone is the second in command of the Hunters Clan. He and Lord Ace founded it together. They're close, but I've never seen their faces."
Scarlet's eyes narrowed. "And their relationship?"
Bruce struggled to speak, his voice barely a whisper. "They're... they're both dangerous. Stone... he suggested... he suggested killing you once you're no longer useful..."
Scarlet didn't need to hear more. She raised her gun and shot Bruce in the head, ending his suffering. She turned to Diego. "Get someone to clear the corpse." Diego nodded. "Yes, Scarlet."
As Scarlet left the torture room, her mind drifted back to a memory from 18 years ago in Atlanta.
#Flashback: 18 Years Ago in Atlanta
It was the middle of the night, and the training center was deserted. Young Scarlet, then only a teenager, was practicing alone, perfecting her silent technique. She moved like a shadow, her footsteps soundless on the concrete floor.
As she approached the secret room, she heard whispers. The secret room was a forbidden place, only accessible to Lord Smith and his best friend, Albert Lea Minnesota. Curious, she crept closer, her silent technique ensuring she wouldn't be heard.
Through a crack in the door, she overheard a conversation, though she could only understand parts of it. The men were speaking in Russian, a language she hadn't yet mastered.
Albert's voice was clear. "We should start a new Mafia Clan in Russia. Together, we'll rule the underworld."
Lord Smith replied, "Yes, but we must be careful. Scarlet is becoming too powerful. Once she's done what we need her to do, we must eliminate her to prevent her from seeking revenge."
Albert agreed, "It's the only way. We can't let her live."
Scarlet's heart pounded in her chest. The words were foreign, but the tone and intent were unmistakable. She backed away silently, her mind racing with confusion and fear.
# End of Flashback
Back in the present, Scarlet finally understood the meaning behind those words. Albert Lea Minnesota, one of her favorite uncles, was in fact Lord Ace. The realization hit her like a ton of bricks. The man she once trusted and looked up to was now her greatest enemy.

Her eyes hardened with resolve. "It's time to end this," she muttered to herself.
She had been searching for Albert to thank him for all he had done for her, but now she saw the truth. He was a traitor, and his betrayal demanded retribution. Scarlet steeled herself for the battle ahead. It was time to take down both Lord Ace and Stone, and nothing would stand in her way.
Back at the Clan's headquarters, Scarlet gathered her core team. Diego, Dracula, Rachel, Arizona, Lucky, Lucas, Lotus, Vincento, Ryder, Piper, Alec, Lars, Janet, Sandra, and Tyler-all stood before her, their faces set with determination. "We have a new mission," Scarlet announced. "We need to replace Albert Lea Minnesota, also known as Lord Ace. He's the key to bringing down the Hunters Clan."
Diego, ever loyal, stepped forward. "It's getting interesting and bloody just like I love it."
Dracula, still bitter from earlier events, nodded reluctantly. "Let's end this."
Scarlet looked at each of them, her gaze fierce. "This isn't just about revenge. It's about justice. For everyone they've hurt. For every life they've destroyed. Let's make sure they pay."
The team nodded in unison, ready for the fight ahead. As they prepared to move out, Scarlet felt a renewed sense of purpose. The battle was far from over, but with her loyal team by her side, she was ready to face whatever came next. The hunt for Lord Ace had begun.
