THE DEVIL HERSELF -
Chapter 51
"Take this bastards to where they belong" she ordered and left the place to her apartment to freshen up. Hours passed as Scarlet bathed and tried to scrub the blood and pain from her skin. The hot water did little to soothe the anger and heartbreak that simmered within her. As she dressed, Tyler and Rachel stood by her side, silent yet supportive. They all knew the gravity of the situation, and the emotional toll it had taken on Scarlet was evident.
The three of them made their way to the hospital, their hearts heavy with dread. Upon arrival, the doctors met them, their faces somber.
"Dracula is unconscious," one of the doctors began, "but the bullet in his arm has been removed and the stab wounds in his back have been treated. He's stable, but he needs rest."
Scarlet's heart pounded in her chest as she asked the question she dreaded most. "What about Diego?"
The doctor's expression grew even grimmer. "I'm sorry, but Diego didn't make it. We were waiting for you to come and see him one last time before we took him away."
Scarlet felt the world tilt beneath her. Rage and disbelief flooded her mind. "No," she whispered, her voice shaking. "No, he can't be dead. He can't be."
Tyler and Rachel exchanged a worried glance, but they followed as Scarlet stormed down the hall to the room where Diego's body was kept. She pushed the door open and walked in, her eyes immediately locking onto the still form on the bed. A white cloth covered Diego's body, hiding the reality she refused to accept.
With trembling hands, Scarlet pulled back the cloth, revealing Diego's pale face. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she reached out to touch his cold skin. "Diego," she whispered, her voice breaking. "Please, wake up."
The doctors and nurses in the room watched with sympathy, but when Scarlet pulled out her gun and placed it against the head of the nearest doctor, the atmosphere shifted dramatically. "Bring him back," she demanded, her voice icy and dangerous. "Or I will blow your brains out right here."
The doctor, wide-eyed and terrified, raised his hands in a placating gesture. "Please, Scarlet, there's nothing we can do. He's gone."
"No!" Scarlet screamed, pressing the gun harder against the doctor's temple. "You're a doctor! Save him! Bring him back to life, or you'll wish you were dead."
The tension in the room was palpable as Tyler and Rachel watched in shock, unsure how to intervene. The doctor's eyes darted around, desperate for a solution. "We can try... something," he stammered, "but it's risky, and there are no guarantees."
"Do it," Scarlet hissed. "Do whatever it takes."
The medical team sprang into action, hurriedly preparing to attempt resuscitation. Scarlet stepped back, her gun still trained on the doctor. She watched as they worked frantically, her heart pounding with a mixture of hope and fear. After what felt like an eternity, one of the nurses administered a final injection. There was a tense pause, then a faint beep sounded from the monitor. Diego's chest rose slightly, and the room erupted in controlled chaos as the doctors stabilized him. Scarlet's grip on her gun loosened, tears of relief streaming down her face.
"He's alive," the doctor said, his voice shaky but relieved. "But he's in a coma. We don't know when or if he'll wake up."
"Get out!!!!!" She barked at them
Scarlet stood by Diego's bedside, her heart aching as she looked at his still form. Machines beeped rhythmically, and the room was filled with the soft hum of medical equipment. Tyler and Rachel sat quietly nearby, offering silent support. "Why him?" Scarlet whispered, her voice barely audible. "Why did this have to happen to him?"
Rachel placed a comforting hand on Scarlet's shoulder. "He's strong, Scarlet. If anyone can come back from this, it's Diego."
Scarlet nodded, her eyes never leaving Diego's face. "He has to. I can't lose him. Not now."
Tyler spoke up, his voice gentle. "We'll be here for him, and for you. Whatever it takes, we'll get through this together."
Scarlet took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "Thank you, both of you. I just... I don't know what I'll do if he doesn't wake up."

Days turned into weeks as Scarlet sat vigil by Diego's bedside. Dracula has been discharged from the hospital and he comes to see his brother once in awhile. Elias and Gloria also learned the news, they pitied the innocent boy but Elias can't Gloria alone at home, Scarlet promised to take of herself and Rachel is also with her and would see to it that she's fine. For now, Dracula is the one incharge of the clan. Other new recruites have been sent back to their parents or villages, orphans have been given enough money to start up something for themselves and the clan would be incharge of them at all times.
She refused to leave the hospital, her determination unwavering. The doctors monitored his condition closely, but there were no signs of improvement. Each passing day felt like an eternity, the weight of uncertainty pressing down on her. Conversations with the doctors were repetitive and frustrating. "We're doing everything we can," they would say. "It's a waiting game now."
Scarlet's frustration grew, her emotions a turbulent mix of hope and despair. She spent hours talking to Diego, recounting memories and sharing her thoughts, hoping that somehow, her words would reach him.
"Remember that time we went to the beach?" she said one evening, her voice soft. "You tried to teach me how to surf, and I ended up wiping out so many times. You laughed so hard, and I was so mad at you. But then you pulled me into the water and kissed me, and all my anger just melted away."
She paused, wiping away a tear. "I need you to come back to me, Diego. We have so many more memories to make. I can't do this without you."
Tyler and Rachel joined Scarlet in the hospital room. They brought food and coffee, hoping to lift her spirits. As they sat together, a sense of camaraderie and shared grief filled the room.
"Do you remember the first time we all met?" Rachel asked, trying to lighten the mood. "Diego challenged you to a sparring match, and you kicked his ass."
Scarlet managed a small smile. "He underestimated me. He thought I was just some girl who couldn't fight. But after that match, he never underestimated me again."
Tyler chuckled. "He respected you so much. He always talked about how strong and capable you were. He admired you."
Scarlet's smile faded as she looked at Diego. "He's the one who's strong. He's been through so much, and he's still here. I just need him to wake up."

000 A MONTH LATER 000
Diego remained in a coma. Scarlet's dedication never wavered, but the toll it took on her was visible. She was exhausted, her eyes hollow with worry. Yet she refused to give up.
One evening, as Scarlet sat by Diego's side, she noticed a slight movement. Her heart skipped a beat. "Diego?" she whispered, leaning closer.
His fingers twitched, and for the first time in weeks, there was a flicker of hope. Scarlet called for the doctors, her voice trembling with excitement. "He moved! Diego moved!"
The medical team rushed in, checking his vitals and monitoring his brain activity. The doctor looked up, a small smile on his face. "It's a good sign, Scarlet. He's showing signs of improvement." Tears of relief filled Scarlet's eyes. "Thank you," she whispered, her heart swelling with hope. "Thank you so much."
Despite the small glimmer of hope, the road to recovery was still long and uncertain. Diego's movements were minimal, and he remained in a coma, but the signs of improvement gave Scarlet the strength to keep going. She continued to talk to him every day, sharing stories and memories, hoping that her words would reach him. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and she was determined to see him through this.
Even the devil do have a heart, but who can bring out the heart of a devil will have to go through hell. Diego brought it out but paid the price.
As time went by, Scarlet remained by his side, her love and determination unwavering. The fight was far from over, but with each passing day, she held onto the hope that Diego would wake up and return to her.
The clan rallied around Scarlet, supporting her through the difficult times. The battle with Lord Ace had left its mark, but they were a family, bound by loyalty and love. They would face whatever challenges came their way together.
And as Scarlet sat by Diego's bedside, she knew that no matter what happened, she would never give up on him. He was her strength, her heart, and her reason to keep fighting. And she would be there for him, just as he had always been there for her.
