The Devil's Chosen -
Epilogue
Epilogue:
9 months later…
“Atch, it’s time to go,” I heard a low voice say from outside my bedroom door.
“One second, I’ll be ready in a bit,” I replied, throwing my sheets off my body.
Looking out the large window to my left, I noticed the sun had already risen. I had a meeting to get to, an important one at that.
Hopping out of the warm bed, my bare feet hit the cold, slate floor. I quickly threw on a shirt and some pants and slipped into warm socks. Hanging in my closet was my battle gear. I pulled off the black cloak and carefully ran my thumb over the patch on the left breast, an emblem of a weeping angel. It had only been a few months since I joined the Green Kingdom’s ranks, and I had already gotten myself the title of a commander.
“Atch!” the voice said again, this time with a loud knock on the door. “Let’s go!”
“Yea, yea,” I said, throwing the cloak on over my head. “I’m coming.”
As I walked toward the door I grabbed my mask off of the coathanger. Slipping it on over my face I looked in the mirror for a brief moment to make it look nice.
Name: Atch
Level: 69
Strength: 109
Power: 95
Speed: 119
The white mask covered the bottom of my face, going over my nose and cheeks. The only details along the entire thing were black “X”’s that went across my mouth. It was… odd.
All of the commanders have to wear one, it’s the rule of our kingdom. Our identities were very important, considering we’re enemies with most of the other nations. But I didn’t care about any of the other kingdoms, or nations even. All I cared about was the Purple Kingdom and King Ernest.
Exiting my room, standing a few feet from the door was a tall, strong, tan man, fitted with shining black armor and a black cape with the weeping angel emblem on the back.
Name: Kain
Level: 94
Strength: 115
Power: 95
Speed: 159
In his right hand was his mask, like mine it was all white, though his covered his right eye. You’d think that would minimize his vision, though he already lost his right eye some time in battle, a nasty scar running down his face as proof. He pushed his long, messy red hair out of his face and tied it back into a knot.
“Good morning, Kain,” I said, closing the door behind me. “Better put on your mask.”
“That’s right,” he nodded, slipping the mask over his face. It fully covered his scar, and where his eye would have been was just a black dot, about the size of a quarter. “Let’s get going.”
We walked through the halls in silence until we made it to the throne room. At the center of the large room was a circular table, three of the six chairs had already been filled. Nodding to the other commanders as I sat down, the main doors flew open. As the doors swung open a young man in all black came through. His dark brown, nearly black hair nearly draped over his piercing green eyes as he walked slowly to the table. Over his mouth and nose, similar to mine, was a white mask, though his was lined with jagged teeth, smiling nearly to his ears.
“Good morning, everyone,” he said, sitting down in the last seat of the table, a large one lined with black and gold. “I’m excited to kill Dr. Ernest, aren’t you all?”
