The Lycan King’s Gamma -
Chapter 64
Lycan Prince Hunter
"Princess Kailen, it's so good of you to finally join us," Alpha Ivan said with a smirk.
"Kailen, run." I yelled to her as she moved down the stairs.
"Let my mate go!" She growled out, holding a knife in her hand.
I tried to reach out to her, but I couldn't get through the link because of the wolfsbane they had injected. What the hell was she thinking? I tried to fight against the cuffs, uncaring of the burning. Kailen needed to get out of her and to safety with our pups. This fucker wanted my mate and what she could give him. I don't know how he found out about the legend, but he's a dead man either way. I didn't care about the crown. My only concern was Kailen and our babies.
"I will not ask you again!" She growled out. I was pleading with her to run, but she didn't look at me.
"And what are you going to do? You can't shift, and I have all your men on their knees." He smirked at her.
I tried to get up, but before I could even get off one knee, someone punched me in the face. Losing my balance, I hit the ground, landing on my shoulder hard. The growl that left Kailen shook the windows and everyone took a step back except for Alpha Ivan. Looking up at Kailen, I could see the fury in her eyes. And if looks could kill, everyone in this room would be dead.
Kailen pulled out a gun, replacing the knife she was holding. Alpha Ivan actually laughed as Kailen got closer to him. She was almost down the stairs. As I watched Kailen, she smirked at him and I wish I could know what she was thinking. I was terrified for my mate and furious at this fucker, who thought for one second he would actually win this.
"The only reason you are still alive is because I need answers. Your pack runs the auction house, and you were drugging the girls, not so they would get pregnant without a mark, but to see how much of the drug it took to get them pregnant without going crazy." She said, and I was shocked.
"Wow, you are good. Too bad it took you too long to figure it out." He taunted.
"Did you sell Andrew the underage girls?" She growled out and I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
"What Andrew was doing was his business." Alpha Ivan brushed it off.
Watching Kailen, I could see that she was struggling not to shoot the bastard that allowed children to be hurt. Kailen knew all too well how it feels to have your freedom taken away.
"And the rogue attacks?" She asked. And he huffed.
"Just a distraction. I needed to get you here. Make you feel you were helping. My son provided all the information I needed about how you were working on this case about missing women. You really shouldn't be so trusting." He mocked her.
"And your fucken mate?" She growled out, and he growled, crossing his arms across his chest.
"Get this straight, little girl. You are to have my child, not be the queen. And after you have my child, there are four other alphas that need your fucken body. And after that, we will kill you." He said and my blood was boiling.
Sitting up, looking around the room, they even had Alpha David Carter on his knees in cuffs. He wasn't part of this, but he must have known about the girls my uncle was purchasing. The thought made my stomach churn in disgust. Anyone who could turn a blind eye to that is a monster.
Kailen's feet hit the ballroom floor and my anxiety went to a new level as I watched my mate walk towards a monster holding a gun up to his face. He knows she is pregnant, and she is too close to him.
"On your fucken knees." She growled out the command. The command rolled over all of us, and the warriors dropped to their knees.
The alphas were still standing, and I prayed that help was coming. How the hell could I have been so stupid to have all five of them in the same fucken area? I thought I could protect her, but I failed. I was struggling harder against my cuffs, hissing as the silver burned through my flesh.
The gun went off, and I jumped, not expecting the sound. Alpha Ivan let out a growl before falling on to one knee. There was blood everywhere.
"I said on your goddamn knees." Kailen yelled out and her command hit us full force.
The alphas fell to their knees and warriors fell on their hands, baring their necks to the queen. I couldn't even move under her command. I felt frozen in my spot as my eyes went to Kailen.
Not turning her back on the alpha, who was bleeding from his knee where Kailen shot him. She moved towards one warrior and ripped a pair of silver cuffs from his belt. Alpha Ivan growled as he watched Kailen approach him. Putting the handgun under her chin, she pulled his arms around his back and cuffed him. When he was cuffed, she took the gun and hit him on the back of the head with so much force that he fell on his face.
The doors to the ballroom burst open and that was enough for me to break through Kailen's command and move to her. I was off my knees and in front of her before I realized it was our warriors that were rushing in with Kailen's students in the lead. "Miss Steele, are you okay?" Eli rushed out, running over to us. He looked down at his father and then back at her. She gave him a nod.
"Cuff the alphas and replace me a key." She told him and nodded. He rushed off.
I turned to face Kailen, and she was watching me. I knew she was about to fall apart. Her eyes were misty with tears she didn't want to let go.
"Baby," I breathed out, and she broke. She hit my chest with so much force I groaned as she buried her face into my chest, wrapping her arms around my waist.
I wish I could hold her, but my hands are still cuffed behind my back. Kailen sobbed as I rubbed my cheek against her head, trying to comfort her.
"Baby, it's okay. I'm okay. How are our babies?" I whispered to her, nudging her.
"Aurora is taking care of the babies. And no I'm not okay." She cried out.
Greyson came up to us and he was no longer in cuffs. He held up a key before going behind me to unlock the silver cuffs. I still couldn't reach Rex and the wolfsbane burned in my system, but all I could think about was my mate, who was breaking down. When the cuffs were off, I wrapped my arms and held her, trying to hold her together. Greyson cleared his throat, and I lifted my head off of hers to look at him. Her students had surrounded us while the warriors worked on cuffing the people responsible for all of this. Dr. Connors was making rounds to make sure everyone was okay. Kailen pushed her face further into my chest as she squeezed her arms around my waist. "Greyson, you okay?" I asked him, and he nodded.
"Your father is on his way with the rest of the army. His orders are for you and Kailen to get to the airport and head home." He said, and Kailen's head shot up.
"I'm not going anywhere until I've received statements from them. They know where the women are and I want their suppliers for the drugs." She demanded, wiping her eyes. Greyson looked at her before looking at me. Before I could say anything, Cathy rushed over, pulling Kailen out of my arms, wrapping her in a hug.
"I was so worried." Cathy cried, holding Kailen tightly.
"I'm so sorry, Cathy. You should never have come to this." I heard Kailen say. Cathy pulled away, grabbing Kailen's cheeks.
"Not for me, but for you. Are you all okay?" She asked her.
"I'm furious but, thanks to my students, I'm okay," Kailen told her.
"Kailen, the king is right. You and Hunter need to leave. We can handle everything here." Thomas said.
"I'm not going anywhere. That fucker sold me to Marcus and I'm not leaving until I have his confession and the whereabouts of the girls. He was selling Andrew children. Children!" She yelled out. Dr. Connors rushed over to us.
"Kailen, please calm down. Breathe." She told her, taking Kailen's hand. I could tell that Kailen was shaking with rage. She was so close to all the answers.
"Kailen?" I said, reaching my hand out and taking her free hand in mine. I could see the storm when she looked at me. It conflicted her. She wanted answers, but she also wanted to protect our babies.
"Hunter, I'm not leaving." She huffed.
"And I didn't ask you to," I said, and she looked at me, stunned.
"What?" She breathed out.
"But you need to rest and this mess needs to be cleaned up. I'm not asking you to leave. I'm asking you to come to our room and rest while this is organized. Then you can speak to the alphas involved." I said, and tears returned to her eyes. "Really?" She whispered. Dr. Connors let go of her hand and I pulled Kailen against my chest, wrapping my arms around her.
"I know you want answers, but you also need to keep our pups safe. And I need to keep you three safe, so please come upstairs with me?" I whispered to her, snuggling my face into her neck.
"The pack house has been secured." Zach came up to us and announced. I didn't look up. I held my mate close, breathing in her scent.
"Please, baby?" I whispered in her ear, planting kisses down her neck. My hands on her hips, squeezing her tightly. I can't believe I could have lost her and our pups today.
"Okay." She whispered. I sighed in relief against her neck.
"Greyson, help Zach sort through these traitors. Alpha Thomas and Cathy, can you help with everyone else?" I said, and all of them nodded.
"I'll continue my rounds." Dr. Connors said, and I nodded.
Without saying another word, I led Kailen up the stairs to our room. I should be down there, helping with the warriors. I'm not sure how many of them were injected with wolfsbane, and I'm sure they could use the help.
Looking at Kailen, I was thankful they did not inject Kailen. The wolfsbane would have killed our pups. I almost lost them all today because I thought I could protect her and our enemy were ten steps ahead of us. I will never make this mistake again. Kailen will stay until she gets answers, but then she will never leave our pack. Too many people know who she is and what she can give a man. I won't let anything happen to her again.
As soon as we walked into our room and the door was closed, I spun her into me, pushing her back up against the door.
"Hunter," she breathed out. Staring into her eyes, and without saying a word, I crushed my lips to hers.
