The Lycan Series
The Lycan King’s Breeder Chapter 5

Avalyn's POV

"Avalyn!" My father's voice set my nerves on edge. I was done for.

I almost tried to flee again, but I knew there was no point to it. I was already caught. Well, nothing like a good old beating to end the night.

I took a deep breath suppressing my fear. I got up from my crouched position on the stairs and walked down to my father and stepmother, not daring to look any of them in the eye. "Father..." My voice came out in a trembling mess.

"I said it! I told you she was always causing trouble, hiding and eavesdropping like a mouse." My stepmother exclaimed with a dubious smirk on her lips. "Who knows how troublesome she'll turn out to be when she grows up? This is why we have to get rid of her disgusting self now, to save ourselves trouble in the future."

"You were eavesdropping on us?" My father growled, taking a step closer to me.

I smelt the familiar whiff of alcohol and began to tremble uncontrollably. I knew how horrible my father could be when he was drunk. He was terrible when he was sober, and much worse when drunk. I lowered my head afraid to look him in the eye. My stepmother giggled, "Look at the time, she's even later than usual." Her voice was like nails on a chalkboard. "Probably fooling around with the boys from school. Pathetic."

"I promise I wasn't. I had deten-" it was out of my mouth before I could stop myself.

"You had detention? Not only were you late and caught eavesdropping, but you're also even getting into trouble at school. Bringing shame to the family name, is that what your monster mother taught you?" My stepmother drawled, giving the evilest smirk. I bowed my head in dejection. I blinked rapidly to get rid of the pricking tears building up in the corner of my eyes. "I'm sorry," I whispered.

"You're what? Sorry?" My father growled. "What exactly are you sorry for? For the monster, you call your mother, that creature that made my life a living hell? Or for your abominable self who killed her?" He spat in complete disgust as he glared at me daring me to speak.

"Now you've angered my husband... looks like someone needs a little lesson," My stepmother said, wrapping her manicured nails around my father's arms.

At this, my father suddenly raised his hands to strike. Out of reflex, I lifted mine to cover my head. I trembled hard as I bit into my lips to stop myself from screaming out. Screaming would only attract more brutal chastisement. Smack!

A heavy blow struck my face, knocking me backward and unto the floor harshly. I slumped to the ground, hearing my father's angry roar faintly over the loud ringing in my ear.

"How dare you act like such a smart ass? I should have kicked you out of my house the moment your mother died, but instead, I showed you compassion and let you sleep under my roof and eat my food!" My father growled.

"And this is how you talk to me? With such disrespect!" He yelled as he rained down fists on my face and any part of my body he could get his hands on.

The intense pain put me in a trance-like state as my vision started to blur.

"Father please... stop. Please stop. I'm sorry!" I begged over and over but he didn't seem to pay me any attention as he mindlessly rammed my face with his fists.

I cradled my head in my arms and cried out some more, "I'm sorry... I'm sorry... please stop... please."

"Honey stop, you'll kill her." My stepmother's voice sounded like it was coming from far away, even though I knew she was standing right beside my father and I.

"... Peter remembers, that pretty face of hers is her biggest asset. Our one-way ticket to that werewolf big wallet. We don't want to ruin that now, do we?" My stepmother hissed, trying to reason with her husband, more on their behalf than mine.

I could only thank God as she distracted my father enough to turn around to address her, allowing me to scoot away and cower against the wall in fear that my father would strike me again.

"The lucky animal. You're lucky they are paying so much money for your sorry ass," My stepmother said with a sinister smile.

Turning to my father she continued, "You know what the plan is for her. In a few days, we'll have all our financial problems sorted and she'll be one less problem to worry about."

At this, the expression of drunken anger on my father's face turned into that of amusement. The sinister look lurking in his eyes suddenly made the hair at the back of my neck stand erect. I didn't know what was going through his mind, but I could tell it was nothing good.

"Oh, the worthless pig seems confused, care to fill her in on the good news, honey? I know she'll be excited, I'm bubbling with excitement myself." My stepmother drawled, smirking at my father.

"With pleasure," The man that I called my father said with amusement. "You know what you're going to do for me Avalyn? A very big job." He smiled, "The main purpose you're even still alive is finally upon us."

I had no idea what they were talking about. A job?

My stepmother walked up to me, squatting down to my level and I couldn't help but flinch. "You my dear are going to be useful after all," She said dragging her long nails down my cheeks, leaving an angry red trail in its wake. I flinched and drew back my head, cradling my cheeks to stop the slight burn.

"W-what do you want f-from me?" I dared to ask, ready to be hit at any moment, but it never came. My heart beat erratically as I waited for my punishment.

"Oh shut up!" My father hissed. "I'm doing you a big favor you freak."

I didn't see how whatever he did would be in my favor but I remained silent, waiting for him to give me the heart-wrenching news.

"You've been sold to your kind," My father said nonchalantly, spitting out the last word like it was a bitter pill. "The werewolves need a breeder and they are ready to pay the heavens to get a decent one with a pretty face. Those disgusting creatures should never see the light of day ever again. All of them... freaks!"

"At least he was willing to pay a lot." My stepmother snickered.

I gasped in disbelief. This couldn't be happening.

I called him my father and he sold me off away like a piece of clothing to be worn. How could he?

I was terrified, shocked, and speechless, all at once. This couldn't be happening to me.

My eyes frantically went from my father to my stepmother trying to gauge if their faces held any playful expression, but neither did.

"Don't look like that Avalyn," My father said. "You should consider it a huge honor to be part of an actual pack, instead of wasting your days in human society." His smile did not reach his eye. "This is just the perfect opportunity to learn about your real roots, learn more about your freak mother." He spat with disdain.

I was too shocked to even be confused. The situation in front of me shouldn't be happening.

"Father please, don't do this. I know nothing about their type. Please father!" I pleaded with tears in my eyes. Hoping to God that he'd reconsider and change his mind.

Sometimes when the pain they inflicted on me became too much, I wished to be with the werewolves. I had wished to be anywhere but here. But right now, I took my words back. I would rather stay in this hell than go leave with those monsters! "Well there's always time to learn new things, isn't there?" My stepmother cackled loudly.

I turned to her and grabbed her by her pants, hugging her leg tightly.

"Please... help me plead with my father, please I beg of you. I don't want to go there... you can't send me off to live with a bunch of creatures I don't know!" I pleaded, tears rolling down my face as I begged.

My stepmother seemed to be in a fairly good mood. She smiled at me but her smile was nothing but vicious. "Avalyn honey. Don't stress yourself, there's nothing else you can do. Begging gets you nowhere in life," She said as she kicked me roughly, slamming my back against the wall.

I turned back to my father to plead with him once more. "Father please, say somet-" But he didn't let me finish talking.

The hit that came next was harder than the previous one, I let the tears roll down my cheeks as I cried.

"Let this be the last time you call me your father. I am not your father, you irritate me!" He yelled at me, droplets of saliva smearing my already wet face.

"Please don't send me to them... if my mother were still alive..." I couldn't dare finish my sentence. The murderous look in my father's eyes at the mention of my mother had me frozen in fear.

Without warning, he leaned down and grabbed me by the hair, pulling me up to face him directly. "I'll tell you this once... just once. Your mother was a piece of shit that deceived me and poisoned me to love the monster that she was. I'm glad she's dead and I can't wait for you to rot away in hell with her and her kind." He hissed harshly. Throwing me against the wall when he was done. I couldn't tell which hurt more, his hand gripping my hair or the words he'd just spilled about my mother.

"Go upstairs and clean yourself up, our guests are arriving soon and I don't want you looking like trash." My stepmother murmured as they both walked away, leaving me battered and broken.
