The Lycan’s Rejected Mate -
Chapter 231
Caliana's
POV
"The Gem ball is held at least once in six months, it is a celebration for not only the harem ladies but all the ladies in the pack, they all wear the best designer gowns, only bright colors by the way and people will vote who is the prettiest," Pauline explained to me. We were in a clothes store in town, rummaging through all the dresses fiercely. She popped her head out and frowned "Unfortunately, Deloras wins every year,"
I scowled and groaned at the mention of that woman. As beautiful as she was, she was rotten inside.
"Why is everyone buzzing about this gathering, it's just a stupid ball where girls kill themselves to impress men with dresses and others die due to failure of breathing, it's like we are back in early centuries!" "Well, the winner is usually Alpha Blanco's favorite and there is a possibility she might be his Luna,"
"So they just want to impress Blanco? What about the others who are not part of the harem,"
"They hope to be invited in the harem, believe it or not, many ladies want to be part of the ' circus' as you call it,'
I honestly didn't understand these women.
According to the omega, most noble Alphas and ranked men and women attend Blanco's ball. Maybe I can use this party to my advantage, talk to some Alphas and share some business ideas, this might help my pack! "Is there a prize?"
"Yes, lots of cash," She grinned. Hmm. She brought in many clothes for me to see but I couldn't replace the perfect fit, I wanted something different, maybe a black dress. I wanted to stand out. I was hoping my attending this party will open doors for me. I needed to take my pack back to its grandiose days. I touched my stomach and smiled, I want my child to have the life I had growing up, in a secured pack with members that will love them. I want them to live a comfortable life and play in the great fields as I did. A pack free from rogue attacks.
"Where is the designer who took my measurements days ago?" I groaned, already getting tired of this.
"She left everything here... Oh, my goddess... I think I've found the perfect one," She said. I smirked and nodded.
Getting back home, I found about two other omegas ready to help me get ready for tonight's party. They helped me in the shower and did my makeup perfectly to match my dress, and my hair was styled professionally. Once we finished, I wore my off-the-shoulder black gown with a puffy tulle skirt.
They told me to not look into the mirror while they worked on me but when I did, I gasped. I looked like some sort of a princess.
"We are late," Pauline said as she hurriedly got me into my heels. "The ball started long ago,"
"The rest of them are just early," I winked and she smiled up at me.
Before going to the ball, I had a strange sensation in my heart, I felt Edward in my head. How is this possible when we are miles apart? Liana was stirring like crazy but I shut her out. It's a new start for us and we won't let the past take this from us. The moment I appeared at the top of the stairs, I felt several eyes on me and I held each gaze proudly. I was beautiful and held it with grace. I smiled as I descended the stairs and my eyes locked with Blanco, he left Deloras and the other girls he was entertaining and their shocked expressions were priceless.
Blanco extended his hand to me and I took it, all eyes were still turned to us. I noticed the party was elegant indeed, and everyone wore extravagant light-colored clothes, they were all refined and of high class.
"May I have the honor of your first dance?" Blanco asked. My eyes traversed over his shoulders to the girls who were still in utter astonishment, they didn't know I'd attend their glamorous party.
I nodded to Blanco's request and joined him in the middle of the room, the orchestrates started to play and we moved softly to the music.
"Wow, nobody wears black better than you," He sighed, his gaze on me. I exhaled deeply
"My new favorite color," I muttered and he scowled, knowing what I meant.
"I didn't think you'd come, and did I mention how stunning you look tonight?"
"Thank you, and I wanted to leave the house, besides, I mostly came here to show your princesses that I can clean up as well,"
"Oh I heard the lakeside confrontation," He said, though he didn't seem vexed. I know they complain and cry to him about every little thing.
His eyes were on my lips now and the longing to kiss me grew. He softly caressed my cheeks and slowly leaned in but he extracted his lips. He seemed to be in a battle with his inner beast, he was appalled for a moment before excusing himself politely and leaving the room, two harem girls chased after him but he growled at them to leave him alone for a moment.
Tristin linked my eyes to mine and kissed my temple.
"What was that about?" I murmured.
"They like you way more than he thought they would," He meant Alpha Blanco's inner beast as well.
"So you only came here because two girls spoke s**t about you?
"No, I need investors in the company at home, Tristin, and Levy couldn't replace anyone there so I want to replace some here. If not, the pack will be bankrupt," I briefed him with a heavy heart, this hasn't been easy. We have been trying for so long to keep the company standing.
"Five months?"
"Yes, I shall leave here after that because I want to be home when I have my baby,"
"I think I can help with that but you shall have to pitch to them," He said and I was grateful.
"First on our list will be Tiaron, he's a cocky, intelligent, and wealthy Alpha. He is always open to new business ventures," He told me, and luckily for us, Tiaron was here with us. A short man with a bald head, he was surrounded by five women. He smiled delightfully when he noticed our approach and with the flicker of his wrist, everyone left him alone.
"Miss Caliana," He elated, extending his hand towards me.
"I've been bugging Blanco to introduce you to me but he refuses," He complained " I'm Tiaron Arrow, and no need to tell me who you are, I already know," I smiled tightly and took his outstretched hand. Alpha Tiaron pulled me to the dancefloor, a gasp escaped my lips and I heard a chuckle from Tristin.
It was a pleasant evening, the harem ladies avoided me the whole night, and I didn't see Blanco after he stormed off like that.
'Let's go back home,' I heard the faint voice of my wolf.
'We shall but we still have work to do," I replied, holding Tiaron's business card tighter. He wanted to hear more about my pack. My gaze scanned the room and I saw Blanco watching me, my heart warmed when he smiled at me.
