Edward's

POV

Evelyn said Caliana is in the Northern region, however, didn't say exactly which pack because they didn't tell them. The North has over eighty packs and my mate is in one of them. I was, we shall stay with my cousins, king Leondre and Arya in the Sapphire royal Lycan pack while there. I was anxious the whole way there and didn't know what to do. We got there in four hours and as soon as we landed, I let out a sigh and descended the stairs. Arya wrapped her arms around me and I hugged her before greeting my aunt, uncle, and king Leondre. We drove to the castle. An hour later. Soon, we are informed that lunch is ready.

After lunch, I told my family what happened, while they gave me comforting stares, Leondre gave me the one that said, 'I told you this would happen,'

"We'll replace your mate if she is anywhere in this area, don't worry," My cousin said. I nodded at her.

In the evening, Arya took me to her manor to meet her triplets, and seeing the kids giggle and play with her did something to me. My chest burned, and I felt the urge to cry, but it had to be wrong, I didn't cry.

My hands were trembling as flashes of my mate came into my mind. Noticing this, Arya gave baby Rose to me, she was perfect and so innocent in all ways, she reminded me of Love when she was a baby. So perfect. Soon, baby Rose started to fuss in my arms and I rocked her gently until she fell asleep. I was too busy soothing the baby to notice Arya and all the attending servants were gone and I was left with the two boys.

I shook my head, this must be Arya's way to distract me from my emotions. Both boys wanted to be carried so I put baby Rose in a crib, and picked up the two boys, they had so much energy, if one cried, the other did. I felt like there was no winning with them! The babies both started to cry and I stood there, dumbfounded, praying that Rose didn't wake up. I gave them their suckers but spit them out of their mouths. I made funny faces and noises for them and it seemed that they enjoyed seeing me ridicule myself because they were now giggling. An hour later, I was exhausted and glad all three were sleeping. Only did Arya open the door. I glared at her but she smiled sheepishly at me.

"Thank you, Arya,"

"You're welcome, cousin," She said and led me to the bar where we had a few drinks. Her mate, Jacob joined us and for the first time in a while, I felt a bit ok.

The next day, I decided that I should stay in the family's cabin away from the city. I needed to be alone and that place calmed me as it is near the river but to my surprise, someone was occupying it. I didn't need that. I approached the woman who was lying near the water. She noticed me immediately and looked up, she radiated power that even I could sense. If I wasn't as strong as I was, she would have me on my knees and my Lycan submitted. Who the f**k was this woman.

"Apologies," I started. I was still bewildered by her calming yet dominating aura. She wasn't scared that a stranger was this close to her.

"You're trespassing," I told her, she looked me over and tilted her neck.

"No, you are," She said calmly, " I'm staying in that cabin there,"

"That is my family cabin, this land is ours," I grounded,

"No, this is my family cabin, I see you're confused, please go back the way you came to avoid problems," She said threateningly and walked away. I groaned and walked past her to the cabin, I locked the door and went to the kitchen to make myself a strong drink but she appeared in front of me, startling me

"Woman, do you want to die?" I growled.

"I told you, this is my place and you're invading," She said solemnly. We argued back and forth until she removed her phone from her pocket. I was about to drag her out when she mentioned Arya.

"In fact, lemme call Arya because I don't feel like getting my hands dirty," She murmured.

"Arya? Who are you?"

"I'm Anaiah Altamirano," I immediately calmed down, she was Leondre's mate. "Leon's woman, the Queen of Lycans," I said and she nodded with a tiny smile.

"Leon?" She squinted her eyes at how fondly I called the king.

"I'm Edward Chasia, his cousin," I said, extending my hand and she shook it. Rumor had it that she was the most powerful of her kind, she could even defeat Lycan Alphas in a fight but no one can guess because she looked so normal in her jeans and shirt, like the rumors, she has remarkable looks that no one has.

"Arya didn't mention you're coming,"

"I decided to stay here last minute. She doesn't even know," I told her.

"So, you're staying here?" She asked and nodded.

"But I'm staying here and can't go back now," She said.

"Hi, roommate," I waved and poured myself a strong drink

"Look, Queen Anaiah, I'll be out of your way and you'll rarely see me,"

"I like my peace and quiet for the days I'll be here and you can't tell the king I'm here," She said. It wasn't a command but her words carried so much weight. Queen Anaiah was making a smoothie now while I drank my liquor. Leondre tried to call her but she ended his call, trouble in paradise, I thought.

"Isn't it dangerous to be here by yourself? Where is your protection," I asked.

"I don't need it, I can defend myself well,"

I nodded and we stayed silent. I retired to my room and as soon as I touched the bed, and relaxed my mind and body, I tried connecting to Caliana's wolf but it was futile, and when I did for a second, she blocked me out. "f**k, f**k," I muttered.
