My Lycan was whimpering.

'stop it, you're annoying me,' I snarled at him.

'Let's replace her,' he said but I shook my head. He wouldn't stop bugging me so I stood up and grabbed my keys before leaving the warm apartment. It had started raining now

'I'm going back, I'm not braving this weather for a woman I don't know, I declared.

'No, we'll just check in the alleys, town square, maybe also in abandoned buildings where she might take shelter, then we'll go back,' he said.

'My pizza will be so cold when I get back,' I grumbled.

'Forget about the f*****g pizza and think of that poor woman,' Koen said.

'Since when do we care about people,'

'There is something about her and I want to know what,' he said quietly. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. Koen was acting strange today. The valet brought me my car and we drove through every street near the hospital. The Golden Stone was the largest pack in the region and if she left this area, there was a chance we won't replace her but I had to try or else my bug bad lycan will make sure I know no rest if we didn't try.

I mind-linked a few guards to check as well, but they reported nothing. It was hard to track a scent with this rain.

'I loathe you for making me do this,' I groaned to Koen... He was focused on the search. I drove for another hour, searching and looking for a woman I didn't even remember properly.

'Maybe she left,' I sighed, hoping that's the case and we go back.

'Let's try the border,'

'No,'

'Then we'll go back-' he didn't finish his sentence when he spotted her. In a distance was a woman, walking in the rain. She was almost falling to walking but kept going. Was she f*****g dumb? Couldn't she replace any shelter?

'I stopped next to her and she started to run, I squinted my eyes and followed her but she was pretty fast. Why was she running? I got out of the car, in order not to harm her again, and ran towards her. I reached her once she fell. As I approached, she started to kick and scream.

"I'm not going back to him!"

I get on my knees and pinned her hands. She finally looked me in the eyes and my lycan breathed;

'Mate,'

Both of us were in a trance, staring at each other.

"Mate," she whispered. That jolted me back to reality and I withdrew from her as fast as I could. She also got to her feet. I eyed her properly now, her clothes were drenched and she was shaking like a leaf on a windy day as she held the trench coat closer to her tiny frame.

"You're my mate," she whispered. I wanted to say something to her. To laugh and refuse her but I couldn't, not when she looked so vulnerable. Her green eyes were entrancing and I used all my willpower to restrain myself from hugging her. I wanted her safe, I wanted to hurt all those who harmed her. It was clear the world hasn't been good to her.

"Let's go to my car," I told her. Why did I whisper? f**k!

"Did Lebrone send you, if so you'll have to kill me because I'm not going back to him," she said with venom on her tongue. Tears rolled down her cheeks. I didn't want her to cry. I clutched my fist and stayed rooted, if not, I'd go to her.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I am the one who took you to the hospital and the doctor called me to tell me that you left without being discharged," I said and she nodded slowly.

"Oh,"

I gestured for her to follow me and she did. I went to the driver's seat while she took the passenger.

"Are you taking me back to the clinic?" she asked.

"No, at least not today. You need a hot bath and meal," I told her.

"Thanks,"

I nodded, my hands were clutching the steering wheel so tightly that I could see how white they were now because her scent was so intoxicating and all I wanted to do was stop the car and just be with her in every way.

Reaching my apartment, I rushed upstairs. I prepared warm water for her and warm pajamas. I went back to her, and what I saw shocked me. Behind that heavy large trench coat she was wearing was a baby bump. My heart dropped in my chest and she fidged uncomfortably. I didn't want to make her uncomfortable but my mate was pregnant with another man's child.
