The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 10
Jessica POV
I slowly started to open my eyes, as I woke up. It took me a minute to remember where I was. I was disappointed when my memory came back, I was hoping that everything that had happened, was just a dream, but nope, it was all to real.
I sat up in bed and let out a yawn, as I stretched my arms. I looked over to the alarm clock and saw that it was 9:00am. I couldn’t believe that I had slept so long, I mean, usually I’m awake at the crack of dawn. I must of been really tire. The weird thing is, that I slept really well. I brought the T-shirt I was wearing up to my nose and inhale deeply, a sigh left my lips, it still smelt so good. For something the scent calmed my anxious nerves.
I noticed that there was a tray of food beside the bed and I quickly reached for it. I was so hungry, last night I had fallen asleep before Josh had a chance to bring me anything to eat, he must of dropped of the breakfast this morning, while I was still sleeping.
I was grateful, I looked over the plate and it was a breakfast sandwich, with eggs and bacon on a croissant roll, a bowl of fresh cut fruit and a glass of orange juice. My mouth started salivating at the sight.
I didn’t waste anytime and dug in, I ate fast, almost worried that the food would be taken away from me at any moment.
After I was done eating, I made my way to the bathroom and notices that some clean clothing had been left on the armchair for me.
I scooped them up before entering the bathroom. I made sure to lock the door behind me, I didn’t trust any of the guys here.
I showered quickly, not liking the fact that I was naked and that anyone could barge into the room. The flimsy bathroom door wouldn’t stop anyone, even though I locked it, it would still be easy to brake down.
Once I was done showering, I put on the clothing that was left for me. It consisted of a pair of skinny jeans and a mauve coloured blouse. Everything fit perfectly, even the running shoes that were left out for me.
I didn’t have a hair elastic, so I left my hair loose to dry naturally.
I walked back into the bedroom and decided to try my luck with the bedroom door, maybe it had been left unlocked. I wasn’t surprised, when I couldn’t turn the door handle, it was certainly locked.
I walked over to the window and looked outside. I could see the small little village of cabins and several people walking around. I wondered if they all knew, that I was being held captive. Maybe someone would be willing to help me escape.
I was all the way up on the fourth floor, there was no way that I could escape through the window. I let out a frustrated sigh. How am I ever going to get out of here.
I went back and sat on the bed, I had nothing better to due, but wait. I saw the television remote sitting on the bedside table and I decided to turn it on. I smiled when the show ‘friends’ was playing, it instantly reminded me of Samantha and I started to miss home again.
I had been watching television for quite sometime. I wasn’t paying that close attention to it, I was mainly lost in my thoughts, when there was a knock at the door. My heart started beating fast and I stood from the bed, waiting in anticipation to replace out who it might be. I didn’t say anything, it’s not like I could let anyone in, since the door was locked.
I heard the lock click on the door and it made my heart beat even faster.
The door slowly opened and I saw Josh standing on the other side with a smile on his face. He was carrying a tray, that looked full of food. I let out a breath of relief, when I saw that it was him and only him.
“Can I come in?” He asked, his smile never leaving his face.
“Yes.” I replied softly.
He walked into the room and laid the tray of food on the dresser.
“How did you sleep?” He asked, sounding sincere.
“Good, thank you,” I replied, In a low soft tone. Josh seemed to be the nicest of the three, but still my heat was racing and I didn’t trust him.
“I brought you some lunch, I thought I could join you and keep you company for a little bit.” He said, with a hopeful tone.
“Sure.” I said, hesitantly.
He picked up the tray of food and walked over to the couch. He put the tray down on the coffee table and took a seat, he was acting very comfortable around me, his easy going personality calmed my nerves slightly.
I slowly walked over to where he was sitting and took a seat across from him, on the armchair.
“Eat.” He instructed, as he reached and grabbed a sandwich from the tray. I didn’t argue and also grabbed a sandwich. It was a BLT sandwich and over the last six months, I had really grown fawned of them.
I quickly brought the sandwich to my mouth and took a bite. I felt awkward and figured if I was eating, I wouldn’t have to speak. We ate in silence for a few minutes, before Josh spoke.
“So, you said you were in a coma six months ago?” Josh asked casually, but I could see the curious look on his face, as he took another bite of his sandwich.
“Ya, I was in a coma for a week, at least that’s what I was told. The doctors never figured out the reason for why I was in a coma. Someone came across my unconscious body in the woods and brought me into the hospital. All I had with me, was an Identification card.” I replied truthfully and Josh stared at me as I spoke. I could tell he was assessing the truthfulness of my words.
“That’s crazy, do you have any family?” He asked, with a curious frown.
“Honestly, I don’t even know.” I replied with a sad tone, while looking down at the sandwich in my hand. Deep down inside, I was hopeful that there was family out there looking for me, but I had no clue.
“Tell me about your roommate?” He asked, changing the subject and I was thankful.
“She’s amazing, she was one of the nurses that took care of me while I was in a coma and when I woke up, she offered me a place to stay, after she found out that I had nowhere to go.” I said and smiled softly at him. He continued watching me, I still felt like I was being interrogated, but he was way less intimidating than the other guy. He didn’t say anything for a few minutes, so I worked up the courage to ask a question.
“Who was the guy, that questioned me yesterday?” I asked, hesitantly. I was nervous, I didn’t want to ask anything that could potentially set him off.
“That’s Alpha Colton. He’s the leader of our pack.” He replied, like his words should of made sense to me, but they only confused me more.
“Alpha? Pack? Is this some kind of cult or something?” I asked, with a concerned frown. Josh chuckled at my question.
“You really don’t know what we are, do you?” He said, while shaking his head in disbelief. His words caused even more confusion. What they are? What does that even mean?
“What are you?” I practically whispered the question.
“I think you’ve been through enough the past few days, how about we save that question for another time.” Josh replied and I could almost make out concern in his tone. I felt uneasy, something was telling me, that I wouldn’t like the answer to my question.
“How long, does your leader plan on keeping me as his prisoner.” I asked, hoping for an answer that would give me hope.
“I’m not sure. I’ll talk to him.” Josh replied, in a softer voice, as he recognized the desperation in my tone.
“Thank you.” I replied, with a small smile.
“So, do you have a boyfriend?” Josh asked with a playful grin, clearly trying to lighten the mood.
“No, my priority has been trying to get my life back on track, since I woke up. I don’t have time for anything romantic.” I said, while chuckling dryly and shaking my head.
“How about yourself.” I asked, trying to make friendly conversation.
“No, just me, the boss keeps me busy, I haven’t had time to go out looking for my ma- -, I mean a girlfriend.” Josh replied.
I watched, as he went still in his seat for a moment and I’m almost certain his eyes glazed over. It only lasted a few seconds, before they returned to their normal shade. I gasp left my lips, did I really just see that, or is it my mind playing tricks on me.
“Thank you, for having lunch with me. I need to go and see the Alp- -, I mean boss. I’ll come by a little later to check on you. In the mean time, do you need anything?” Josh asked, as he stood from the couch. I was lost in my thoughts, still thinking about the weird thing I saw happen to his eyes.
“Jessica? Do you need anything?” He asked against, with a frown, drawing my attention back to him.
“No I’m good. Thank you.” I replied and followed him towards the bedroom door.
He left my room and I heard the lock click, after the door shut.
I need to get out of here, I was starting to panic. The whole conversation with Josh was weird. I didn’t understand what he was talking about half the time, but there was no doubt in my mind, that there’s some weird cult s**t going around here.
I started to pace the floor, thinking about what I could do to escape.
