The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 17

Alpha Colton POV

My men and I, fought against Alpha Ryan and his men. We couldn’t shift, since there were humans around, but that didn’t make a difference. We won the fight, all of his men were unconscious, except for Alpha Ryan.

He had a bloody nose and was sitting on the floor, I could see the deadly glint in his eyes, he was pissed off.

“So you lied to me, about my missing pack member.” He said, with venom lacing his words.

“I don’t believe you, she never assaulted anyone.” I spat back at him.

“I don’t care what you believe, she’s mine. She’s one of my pack members and you have no right to interfere.” Alpha Ryan said, with the same angry tone.

“Over my dead body, will you take her against her will.” I replied, with determination.

I was really hoping at this point, that the warrior I sent to follow Jessica home, got an address for me, so I can keep a watchful eye on her.

“Is one she-wolf, worth a war between two packs? Think about that and chose wisely.” Alpha Ryan threatened, while standing up from the ground.

At this point, his men started to wake up and there were sirens heard in the distance. The club must of called the police. It’s time for us to get out of here.

“If a war is what it takes, to keep her out of your filthy hands, then war it shall be.” I spat back, giving him a dangerous glare, letting him know that I’m not afraid of his threats.

My men followed me, as I stormed out of the club. We made it to the tree line, so we would be out of sight.

‘Did you get her address?’ I asked my warrior, through the mind-link.

‘I did Alpha, it’s 1930 Smith Street. It’s a high rise though, I wasn’t able to get you an apartment number.’ My warrior replied, I let out a relieve sigh. At least we know the building she’s in.

‘Good job, stay put and keep an eye on the front doors, if she leaves, I want to be notified right away.’ I instructed.

‘Yes Alpha.’ The warrior said, before ending the link.

“Josh, I want a team of five warriors, surveillance her building at all times. I need to go back to the pack house and come up with a plan.” I ordered my Beta.

“Yes Alpha, what are your orders if she leaves the apartment? Do we capture her and bring her to you?” Josh asked, with a concerned frown. I knew he didn’t agree with me, keeping her locked up last time and he probably feels the same way about this this time.

I thought about it for a minute. I don’t think that Alpha Ryan, was able to send out any of his men to follow her, so only we know where she lives at this point. I want to avoid taking her forcefully, so maybe for now, I’ll just keep an eye on her from a distance.

“No, if she leaves, follow her, but make sure she doesn’t see you. She’s not be captured. I want regular updates.” I ordered.

“Yes alpha.” Josh replied, sounding satisfied with my order. He did have a curious glint in his eyes, I knew he was curious about my interest in Jessica, he did see me dance with her, after all.

Luckily for me, he didn’t push the topic in front of my warriors. I knew he wouldn’t just let it go though. I’m sure, when we are alone, I’m going to hear about it.

I left Josh with the warriors, to sort out security on her building and I headed back to the pack house.

Once I got there, I went straight to my office and poured myself a glass of scotch, before sitting down.

What the hell am I going to do? Am I willing to go to war, all to protect someone I don’t even know? She’s not even my mate, why do I care so much? I let out a frustrated sigh, what I do know for sure, is my wolf won’t let me walk away from her.

I sat back in my chair and took a swig of scotch, while I thought over options. I know she won’t come here voluntarily. My only choices are, I keep a watchful eye on her and leave her where she is, or I take her against her will.

I really don’t want to scare her anymore. I know the last time she was here, it wasn’t the best experience for her. I think I’ll stick with the first option for now, unless anything changes.

I was brought out of my thoughts, by a knock at the door.

“Come in” I announced.

The door opened and Kyle and Josh walked in. They both sat down across from me. Josh still had a curious look on his face, while Kyle seemed concerned.

“Alpha, are we really going to war, over this she-wolf?” Kyle asked, with a disapproving frown.

“If Alpha Ryan starts a war, we will fight.” I replied sternly, silently warning him not to question my decisions.

“Yes Alpha, I understand.” Kyle said nervously.

“Alpha, I’m just going to come out and asked, is Jessica your mate? You’ve been acting weird, ever since you laid eyes on her.” Josh asked curiously.

I let out a frustrated sigh, I knew I needed to tell them something, I had been acting strangely around her, there was no doubt about that. Plus, although Josh didn’t bring it up, I knew he saw me dancing with her. I even kissed her neck in front of him, what was I thinking. I wasn’t that’s part of the problem.

“No she’s not my mate, yet my wolf responds to her for some reason. He’s the one, who won’t let go of her. I can’t explain why, but I have this feeling inside, telling me to keep her safe. It’s driving me crazy.” I replied, with irritation in voice, as I rubbed over my face with my hands. Josh still looked curious, but Kyle had a shocked experience. He wasn’t at the club, so he didn’t see my interaction with Jessica.

“Alpha, something is weird about her, maybe it’s a masking spell and that’s why she has no scent. Have you thought, that maybe she is your mate and whatever spell that was casted, is preventing you from recognizing it? Why else would your wolf, be acting so protectively.” Josh asked, he was right about the spell idea, I had thought about that myself, but she can’t be my mate, I would know.

“I agree with you, there was likely a spell used to hide her identity. I saw a weird tattoo on the back of her neck, it was something written in a different language and just based on the style alone, I would guess, it was the work of a witch.” I replied to part of his question and intentionally left out my response, about Jessica possibly being my mate.

“Good, so you also agree, that Jessica might be your mate?” Josh asked and this time, he had one eyebrow raised.

“No, she’s not my mate. She’s an attractive women, that’s all there is to it.” I replied sternly, but didn’t miss the slight smirk that appeared on his face.

“So, how long are we going to keep our warriors at her place?” Kyle asked, changing the subject and I was grateful for that. Josh was really started to get on my nerves.

“As long as it takes. I don’t want to kidnap her and forcefully bring her here, but I can’t leave her unsupervised, not while Alpha Ryan is still out there looking for her.” I replied, with a serious tone. Kyle nodded his acknowledgement.

“I don’t know much about spells. I hoping to replace a witch and figure out how a masking spell works, also how to break it.” I said, while glancing between Kyle and Josh.

“I know Alpha Brent, of the Sunrise Pack, has a witch that is mated to his his Beta and therefor lives on his territory. You might want to talk to them.” Josh suggested.

Witches aren’t very common these days, at one point a long time ago, there was a war between species and most of the witches had been killed. A few survived, by hiding out in the human world.

Now though, they’re sought after, because of their unique abilities. Some Alpha’s, now welcome witches onto their territories and give them a place within their pack.

I don’t have any in my pack and to be honest, I don’t trust witches.

“I will contact Alpha Brent, see if his witch is willing to come and talk with me.” I replied. I don’t really want her to come onto my territory, but I don’t have much choice, if I want answers.

“I think it will be beneficial.” Josh added, with a hopeful tone.

“Kyle, I want you to increase border patrol, now that Alpha Ryan has threatened to bring war upon us, I want to be prepared.” I ordered Kyle.

“I’m on it, Alpha.” He replied, as he stood from his chair.

If that’s all Alpha, I’ll go make the arrangements.” Kyle asked.

“That’s all.” I replied and he left the room, leaving me alone with Josh.

I looked over at Josh and now, he wasn’t even trying to hide the smirk on his face.

“What?” I barked out, with irritation.

“Oh nothing much, I was just thinking back to what I saw on the dance floor. You’ve got quite the moves, Alpha.” Josh teased, while wiggling his eyebrows.

“Shut up.” I growled out and he raised his hands in mock surrender, while chuckling.

“For someone, so adamant that she’s not your mate, you certainly weren’t acting like it.” Josh continued to tease. Now I was getting pissed.

I stood from my chair and walked around the desk and stood dangerously close to him.

“Say one more word about what you saw and I’ll kick your a*s.” I threatened, silently daring him to speak again. It would release some stress after all, if he gave me a reason to kick his a*s.

“Ok ok, I give up.” He replied, with a chuckle.

“Now, get out of my office, some people have work to do.” I spat out, as went sit back in my chair.

Josh stood from his chair, he was still chuckling, as he made his way to the door. Josh stopped, before waking out of my office and turned his head to look at me.

“So, If she’s not your mate, you won’t mind if I pursue her?” Josh asked, once again in teasing voice and I nearly lost it. I grabbed the stapler from my desk and chucked it at his head. It just missed him, he wasted no time and took off at a full sprint down the hall, laughing all the way. My b***d was boiling.

I swear to the moon goddess, I’m gonna kill that guy.
