The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 21

Alpha Colton POV

I couldn’t believe, that Jessica got away from my men. I was pissed off, when I found out that my warriors were so careless, they didn’t even have someone watching the back of the restaurant, when she went in. I’ll have to deal with them later, but for now, my focus is replaceing Jessica.

I had men all around Jessica’s building, waiting for her to come home. Others were searching businesses in the area.

I send Josh to the hospital, to hopefully get eyes Jessica’s roommate, since we know she works there. We had gotten a good look of her, at the club and he should be able to recognize her.

An hour later, I got a mind-link.

‘Alpha, I found her roommate at the hospital. She’s a nurse in the emerge department, her names Samantha.’ Josh said, though the link.

‘Perfect. Try and get close to her, see if you can’t get access to her apartment.’ I replied, feeling hopeful. Now that we have eyes on Jessica’s roommate, It’s only a matter of time, until she leads us to Jessica.

‘You got it Alpha, I’m activating Josh the flirt, as we speak.’ Josh replied and I could literally hear his smirk through the link. I internally rolled my eyes, I swear that guy doesn’t know how to be serious.

I continued to search the area with my warriors, but we didn’t have any luck. The day went by and there were no signs of Jessica, anywhere.

It was now just before dinner time, when I got another mind-link.

‘Alpha, I’m on my way back to the apartment with Samantha.’ Josh said and I didn’t miss the cockiness in his voice, he sounded proud of himself.

I would normal be annoyed with his cockiness, but not today. I was actually thankful, that his flirty ways came in handy. Now, we will have access to Jessica apartment, maybe she’s already in there.

‘Good, you know what to do. Update me, if you get any useful information out of her.” I replied.

“I’m on it, Alpha.’ Josh said proudly.

Not long 20 minutes later, I got another mind-link.

‘We got to their apartment, Jessica isn’t in here, but she just called her roommate and said that she was picking up a few extra hours at work. You might want to send some of the warriors to the coffee shop, see if she’s there.’ Josh said, through the link.

‘I’m on it now.’ I replied and ended the link.

I got two of my warriors, to go and check the coffee shop. Maybe she went back to work, after she evaded my men.

Fifteen minutes later I got a mind-link.

‘Alpha, she’s not at the coffee shop.’ One of the warriors, reported.

‘Ok, one of you stay and keep an eye on the coffee shop and the other can come back here.’ I instructed.

‘Yes Alpha.’ He replied and cut the link.

It quickly got dark outside. I was starting to think that maybe she skipped town, after my men spooked her. She should of been be back by now.

All of a sudden, I heard a scream for help, coming from an alley way and I recognized her voice immediately, it was Jessica.

I ran to the alley as fast as I could and found Jessica on the ground, surrounded by Alpha Ryan and a bunch of his warriors in wolf form.

My b***d started to boil with rage, she looked like she had been manhandled, her shirt was ripped and exposing her entire bra. Alpha Ryan was holding onto her.

I didn’t want Jessica to replace out about our kind like this, but Alpha Ryan left me no choice. We both shifted in front of Jessica and the fight was on.

Alpha Ryan lunged at me, at the same time that I lunged at him. He bit into my shoulder, but I didn’t feel pain, it only fuelled my desire to kill him. I turned my head around and latched my canines into his abdomen, he yelled at the action.

I was about to sink my teeth into his neck and end his life, when another one of his wolves, plowed into me and knocked me over. I wasted no time and got back up, before I lunged at that wolf. In one swift motion, I ripped his throat out with my teeth and his lifeless body fell to the ground.

I turned around to replace look for Alpha Ryan, but he was nowhere in sight. He must of taken advantage of the distraction and took off. Damn it, I wanted to end him.

The fight was over, some of his men had ran away and we killed the rest. I scanned the alleyway, only to replace that Jessica was gone. I wasn’t surprised, but I was irritated. Where the hell did she go now? That girl is good at the disappearing act.

I was about to send my warriors out to search the area for her, when I got a mind-link.

‘Alpha, Jessica just walked into the apartment, 1915.’ Josh linked me and I instantly felt relief.

‘I’m on my way.’ I replied and quickly made my way to the front of the building.

The front door was locked, I didn’t think twice, before snapping the lock on the door and getting access to the building.

I went up the elevator, to 19th floor and I could hear loud voices coming from apartment 1915. My heard was beating fast, as I approached the apartment. For some reason, I was nervous. I took a deep breath, before I opened the door.

I was frozen in shock, at the sight in front of me. Jessica stood with her back towards me, waving a knife at Josh, who was directly in front of her with his hands up in surrender. He had a concerned look on his face, as he glanced over at me.

I didn’t waste anytime and took a hold of Jessica’s hand that was holding the knife. She tried to break free, but I didn’t let her. I quickly wrapped my free arm around her waist and pulled her flush against my body. She fought me hard, I was surprised at how strong she was. I mean, she wasn’t able to break free, but I was impressed with her will to survive. She’s certainly a fighter.

I wanted to get her out of this apartment and back to my territory, quickly. Since who knows where Alpha Ryan went, he could come back with more of his men.

Jessica had asked me what I was, but now was not the place for that conversation. I wanted to explain everything to her, but only when she’s safe on my territory.

I knew she wouldn’t go willingly with me, leaving me no choice. I pulled out a syringe from my pocket, that contained a sedative and discreetly plunged the needle into her neck, without her noticing. Within seconds, her unconscious body fell limp into my arms. I won’t lie, I felt both guilty and upset, that I was putting her through more torment. Her night seemed to have already been full of it.

“What do we do with this one.” Josh asked, with a concern frown. I followed his gaze and saw that Jessica’s roommate, was lying on the couch unconscious. I let out a frustrated sigh.

“Damn it, I think Alpha Ryan knows where Jessica lives now. This little one might be in danger. I know for a fact, that Alpha Ryan wouldn’t hesitate using her to draw Jessica in.” I replied, with frustration in my voice.

“You know Alpha, Jessica might be more comfortable with a familiar face around her. Bringing this spunky little one might be beneficial. Bonus, she’s actually pretty funny.” Josh said, with an amused grin on his face. Clearly, he enjoyed the short time he spent with Samantha.

“Fine, but she can’t know what we are and she’s your responsibility. We will keep her on our territory for a few days, until we can relocate her in the city, out of Alpha Ryan’s reach.” I replied sternly. Not liking the idea of bringing a human onto my territory.

Josh was right though, having Samantha around might make Jessica more comfortable. Hopefully, Josh can work his magic when she wakes up and get her to trust him.

We grabbed, both Jessica and Samantha and discreetly brought them out of the apartment building, to the waiting SUV.

I had a couple warriors stay behind and pack some of their belongings, so when they woke up, they would have fresh clothes to wear.

We put both, Jessica and Samantha in the backseat of the vehicle and I got into the passenger seat, Josh was driving.

We were driving down the deserted dirt road, that leads to my territory, in silence. I had so many thoughts running through my head. I was really hoping, that Jessica wouldn’t be overly traumatized, when I tell her the truth. I’m not the best at being gentle and soft, this is going to be a difficult task for me. I’ll try my best though, I really don’t want to scare her, anymore than she already is. Tonight, I could feel her fear, like it was my own. It was driving my wolf and I crazy, we really didn’t like the feeling.

I was brought out of my thoughts, when suddenly, the backdoor flew open. I turned my head around and caught a glimpse of Jessica’s body, jumping out of the moving vehicle. I was shocked, how could she be awake? I gave her enough sedatives to knock her out for hours, she should be out cold.

Josh immediately stopped and we both jumped out of the vehicle.

“s**t!“ Josh said, as he started to search the general area. I could see a panicked look on his face.

It was dark outside, but werewolves have great night vision, so it wasn’t a problem for us.

It didn’t take me long, before I spotted Jessica, trying to run away. The sedatives were still in her system, causing her body to sway and stubble, like a drunk person.

I didn’t even have to run, to catch up with her. It was pretty easy and I actually pitied her. She looked so desperate to get away. I grabbed onto her arm, gently.

“There’s nowhere to go Jessica.” I said, in a calm low voice.

“Let me go please, I promise I won’t tell anyone what I saw.” He said in a slurred voice, but I could hear the desperation and fear.

She tried to pull away from me, but she was really weak. The sedatives were still having a good effect on her. I saw her legs give out and she started to fall but I scooped her up in my arms, before she hit the ground.

Her head rested against my chest. I watched as her eyes closed and she once again, had fallen unconscious. I let out a breath of relief, as I made my way back to the SUV.

I wonder how she was able to wake up from the sedative, even a werewolf would of been unconscious for at least an hour.

“She ok?” Josh asked with concern.

“I think so, I don’t know how she was able to wake up, I had given her a strong dose. She should of been out cold.” I replied, with a concerned frown.

“If she’s a wolf, maybe she’s got a strong one?” Josh replied, with a curious look.

“Maybe. Let’s get her home, before she wakes up again.” I said and I loaded Jessica back into the vehicle. This time, I sat in the back with her and leaned her body against mine. Her head automatically fell on my shoulder, while she slept. I loved the feeling, of having her so close to me. Hector was practically purring in my head. What the hell is his problem, I thought to myself. That’s a weird reaction.

The rest of the drive, went by without a hitch. Jessica stirred a bit, but didn’t wake up again.

When we got to the pack house, Josh settled Samantha, in the room next to his. I reiterated, that she is his responsibility and she can’t replace out that we are werewolves. Josh agreed.

I took Jessica up to my floor and into the bedroom next to mine. I gently placed her on the bed and couldn’t help, but watch her sleep for a few moments. She looked so peaceful and I will never get over how beautiful she is.

Her skin looks so soft, without realizing what I was doing, I reached down and brushed my knuckles across her cheek. She leaned into my hand, while still sleeping and a light m**n left her lips.

It’s not just me, she also responds to my touch. Could she be my mate? No that’s impossible, I don’t even know if she’s a werewolf. Josh just planted that idea in my head, I need to stop thinking about it.
