The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 26

Jessica POV

The k**s I shared with Alpha Colton, was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I never wanted it to end, his lips were so soft and I was completely lost in the moment. I didn’t even care that anyone else was in the room.

When Alpha Colton pulled away from the k**s. I was still completely in a haze. I didn’t notice Heather had walked in, before she spoke.

“What the hell is going on here?” She shouted angrily, while crossing her arms over her chest.

The anger in her tone, was enough to bring me back to reality.

“Heather, let’s go to my office and talk.” Alpha Colton said sternly, but in a calm voice.

“I want to know why, this tramp is kissing you? You’ve chosen me as your mate and Luna, why are you letting that slut throw herself at you?” Heather spat out, with so much venom in her words.

My eyes widen in shock, does he have a girlfriend? Did I just k**s a taken man? Oh no, what have I done.

“I didn’t know he had a girlfriend. I’m sorry.” I replied, barely above a whisper.

“You didn’t know? I don’t give a f**k, sta…” Heather started to say, but was quickly cut off by Alpha Colton.

“Enough! My office now, Heather.” Alpha Colton said sternly and this time, I felt that powerful aura again. Heather immediately bowed her head in submission and stopped speaking.

Alpha Colton headed for the door and walked out. Heather glared at me one more time, before she followed him.

“Wow that was intense, bitches be crazy.” Sam joked, with wide eyes. Josh chuckled and shook his head. I on the other hand, was still completely mortified, that I had just kissed a man who’s already taken.

“Seriously is she a few fries short of a full meal deal? What’s she rambling on about being his chosen mate and Luna? Is that some weird slang?” Sam asked Josh, while shaking her head in disbelief.

“Let’s just say, she’s a bit on the possessive side.” Josh replied with a dry chuckle.

“You don’t say.” Sam replied sarcastically.

“You ok Jess?” Sam asked, with a frown, as she took in my concerned look.

“I kissed him and he has a girlfriend. What is the matter with me?” I said out loud, not really speaking to anyone in particular.

“Ya well, he certainly didn’t stop you and I’m pretty sure his tongue didn’t accidentally slip into your mouth. Clearly, that uptight snotty princess, isn’t quite cutting it for him.” Sam replied and Josh snorted at the name, Sam gave Heather. I didn’t say anything, I still was completely taken aback, by what I had just discovered.

“Don’t let her get to you Jess. If Alp…I mean Colton, didn’t want to k**s you, he wouldn’t have. He’ll put her in her place.” Josh said, while patting my shoulder. He was trying to reassure me, but it didn’t work.

“Why don’t we go and have dinner. Then maybe, we can watch a movie later tonight.” Josh suggested, with a small smile on his face. I simply nodded.

Josh lead the way, out of the lounge and towards the dinner Hall. Sam and I followed.

We made it to hall and took a seat at one of the tables.

“You guys stay here, I’ll go and get us some food.” Josh said, as he walked away from our table towards the kitchen.

“Oh my god, Josh is so amazing. Like we completely click. I swear we finish each other’s sentences at times, It’s crazy. I absolutely love it here.” Sam squealed out excitedly, her chipper mood was contagious.

I instantly forgot about my stupid problems and turned my attention on how happy Sam was. I wonder how Josh feels about her? If he’s simply being a good babysitter, or if he actually likes her.

I also need to asked what’s a Luna and a mate? It must be a werewolf thing. I assume a mate must be like a girlfriend, after how Heather acted.

“That’s amazing. I’m glad you guys are getting along. He seems like a nice guy.” I replied, with a small smile.

“Ugh… I have work in a couple days, I hate to even think about leaving this place. I swear given the opportunity, I would totally stay.” Sam said, while letting out a defeated huff at the thought.

“I think when we go back to the city, we’re going to need to move. That weird guy from the club, knows where I live now. He could come back looking for me and he saw you with me that night, so you shouldn’t go back there either.” I replied, with a concerned frown.

“What was his problem anyway? What did he want with you? Thank goodness, Colton got to you in time.” Sam said, now also looking concerned.

“Honestly I have no clue. Maybe I knew him before the coma. He seemed to recognize me.” I replied truthfully.

We were distracted from the conversation, when Josh showed up at the table, carrying a tray of food.

“Ladies, I hope you guys are hungry.” Josh said with a grin, as he he placed the tray of food in the middle of the table.

“Holy s**t, how big do you think we are?” There’s enough food here, to feed an entire hockey team.” Sam blurted out and Josh and I chuckled.

“It’s the opposite actually, your so tiny I want to fatten you up. I like something to grab onto.” Josh teased, with a playful grin. Sam smiled and I could see the adoration in her eyes, while she looked at him.

“Ok, TMI. I really don’t need to hear about the body parts you want to grab onto.” I replied, while scrunching my nose in disgust. Both Sam and Josh laughed.

They’re actually quite cute together. I wonder if humans ever get together with werewolves. I’ll have to ask Alpha Colton, if he’s ever allowed to speak with me again.

Alpha Colton POV

I was furious with Heathers outburst. She certainly wasn’t acting like a Luna. I don’t know how many times I have to remind her, that just because she’s going to be the Luna of my pack, doesn’t mean we will have a relationship. It’s simply a business deal. I need a Luna and she wants to be one. The only problem is, she clearly wants more from me and if she can’t get over that, then I’ll have to send her packing.

I reached my office and opened the door, Heather followed me in and I shut the door behind us.

“Alph…” Heather started to speak and I cut her off.

“No, stop! How many times have I told you, this is a business deal. I am not your true mate. I’ve explained to you before and I’m going to do it one more time. You’re going to be the Luna of my pack, we aren’t going to be sharing a room or a romantic relationship. This is strictly business. You need to quit it with the possessive tantrums.” I spat out angrily and paused before continuing.

“I’m sorry Heather, that’s all I have to offer you. If that’s not good enough, I understand and you’re welcome to go home. I won’t hold a grudge against you or your pack.” I finished in a softer tone. She looked sad, but quickly recomposed herself.

“That’s fine Alpha, I accept your terms. But I am a well respected and high ranking she-wolf. I expect you to show me respect and not be with other woman publicly, in front of pack members like you just did.” Heather spat out, while holding her chin up high. She looked like such a brat, but she was right. What I did was unacceptable and can’t happen again.

“You’re right. I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.” I replied and her jaw dropped open in shock.

“This doesn’t mean, that anything will happen between us.” I added with a pointed look.

“I understand Alpha. That’s all that I want, for you to treat me respectfully as your Luna.” She said, now in a softer tone. I hate her mood swings, her catty side certainly came out today and I really didn’t like it. I hope that was a one off, or I won’t put up with her s**t.

“Now, I have work to do.” I said, silently telling her to leave.

“Yes Alpha, maybe we can do dinner tomorrow and discuss the Luna ceremony.” She asked, in a seductive tone.

“Let’s play it by year, maybe.” I replied, with an uninterested tone, as I sat at my desk and started to go over some paperwork.

“Ok. I’ll checkin tomorrow.” She said, before leaving the room. I knew she was giving me her classic seductive look, but I never looked up at her. I pretended to be to caught up in the paperwork. She let out a frustrated huff, as she shut the door behind her.

I leaned back in my chair and let out a long sigh. I have to distance myself from Jessica for now. What happened today, can’t happen again.

I’m playing with fire, by accepting to take Heather as my Luna and publicly kissing Jessica. As much as I enjoyed it, It’s not fair to either woman.

Hector wants me to send Heather packing and take Jessica as a chosen mate, but that’s ridiculous. We don’t know anything about Jessica. Heck, she might not even be a werewolf. Plus, who knows if she’s even interested in me. She kissed me because of a bet, not because she wanted to.

I was brought out of my thoughts, when someone knocked at the door.

“Come in” I announced.

The door opened and Josh walked in. He took a seat across from me.

“So, did you set Heather straight?” Josh asked curiously.

“I think so, but what happened today, won’t happen again.” I replied pointedly. Josh shook his head.

“You’re so damn stubborn. The chemistry between You and Jess, is like nothing I’ve ever seen before, yet you still try and deny it. If you keep up this act, your going to lose her and be stuck with someone you can’t stand, for the rest of your life.” Josh said in a serious tone. It actually caught me off guard, that he wasn’t making a joke of the situation. It caused me to pause and think about his words.

Is he right? Am I being blind, when it comes to what Jessica and I share?

“Let’s just not talk about it anymore. The witch is coming tomorrow. Maybe she’ll have some answers for us and we can figure out what to do with the girls from there.” I said, clearly changing the topic.

“Ok. But honestly, I don’t know what it is about Sam, I’m drawn to her. She’s not my mate, but we connect so well that I’m going to be disappointed to see her leave.” Josh said, in a sad voice. I could see the admiration in his eyes, when he spoke about Sam.

It’s not unheard for werewolves to be mated to humans. But Josh and Sam are both of age already, so they would already know if they were fated to each other. Josh needs to get over his infatuation with Sam and move on, I thought to myself.
