The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 35

Alpha Colton POV

I was frustrated when Jess and I were interrupted, things were getting hot between us. I was ready to take her back to my room, when Josh mind-linked me and totally ruined our moment.

He told me that Alpha Peter had called back, with information about Beth for me. He was waiting on the line in my office. As much as I didn’t want to leave Jess, I needed to take this call. I really hope l, he has helpful information for me.

I left Jess in the garden, even though I really didn’t want to and headed for my office.

Once I got there, Josh handed me the phone, before he took a seat on the couch.

I sat down at my desk and brought the phone to my ear.

“Alpha Colton speaking.” I greeted.

“Alpha, it’s Alpha Peter calling back. I have some information for you.” I heard Alpha Peter’s voice announce.

“What is it?” I asked curiously.

“Beth, is supposedly still alive. She’s being held in the dungeon, but she’s not in good shape. Alpha Ryan, has been torturing her daily, trying to get information about her daughter.” Alpha Peter said and I could hear the disgust his voices.

“We have to do something. If he’s been torturing her for 6 months, I can’t image she has much time left.” I replied, with concern in my voice.

“You’re probably right. What are you planning?” Alpha Peter asked.

“Do you know the layout, where she’s being held? And how many guards there are, watching the dungeon?” I asked.

“Yes, I can draw a map out for you. The dungeon, is in its own building, behind the pack house and there’s two guards on duty at all times.” He replied.

“Perfect. I’m going to put a team together and break Beth out of there. Can you send over the map, once you’ve drawn it? I would like to act on this immediately.” I asked.

“Yes Alpha Colton, I’ll get it done now. You’ll have it within an hour.” He replied.

“Thank you.” I said and hung up the phone.

I let out a heavy sigh. This is going to be risky mission, but we need to act fast. If he has been torturing her daily for that long, goddess knows what kind of shape she’s in.

I need to talk to Jess about this. I know she’s going to be upset when she replaces out.

“Alpha, what are we going to do?” Josh asked, with concern in his voice. I knew he had heard the entire conversation.

“I need you to put together a team of 20 warriors. We’re going sneak in during the night and get her out of there, while everyone is sleeping. Most of the warriors will remain out of the territory, they will be there just incase things go sideways” I replied.

“You got it.” Josh said, with a nod.

“Let’s get some darts laced with wolfbane and see if Gloria, can make us a scent masking spell.” I added.

“I’m on it Alpha, anything else?” Josh asked, while standing up.

“I’m going to go and talk with Jess, can you make sure Sam knows about what’s happening, so she can be there for Jess while we execute this mission?” I asked.

“Yes Alpha, I’ll do that first.” He replied.

I got up from my chair and we left my office, going in separate directions.

I was really dreading this conversation with Jess. I hope I’m able to comfort and reassure her. I plan on doing everything I can to save Beth, hopefully it’s enough.

I reached Jess’s room and knocked.

“Come in” I heard, before I opened the door.

Jess was standing by her bed and a big smile grew on her face, when she saw me. I wish I was here for different reasons, so I could return her smile, but I’m not.

Her smile fell, when she took in my serious expression.

“Let’s sit down, Jess. I have some news to share with you.” I said and pointed towards the couch.

She had a concerned expression on her face, when she walked over and sat down, I sat down next to her.

“I just got off the phone with Alpha Peter. His territory, borders the Cold Stone pack, so he knows quite a bit of what happens there. He confirmed that a witch named Beth, was mated to Alpha Ryan’s Beta and they had a daughter your age.” I said and paused for a minute, while she processed my words.

“6 months ago, Alpha Ryan executed his Beta for treason and imprisoned Beth for her crimes. Their daughter disappeared and no one knows where she went. I think, you are their daughter.” I said and watched Jess for a reaction. I could see confusion and concern in eyes, before grief took over.

“You think he killed my father and imprisoned my mother?” She asked, in disbelief. I nodded my head.

“I’m sorry Jess, but I promise we will get Beth out of there, I already have a plan in place.” I said. I didn’t mention the torture, I really don’t think that would do any good at this point.

I watched as tears started to fall from her eyes. I wrapped my arms around her body and let her sob into my chest. My heart was breaking for her, it’s crazy how much this small little woman, has had an effect on me. I hate seeing her upset.

“We will rescue her, I promise” I said again, in a soft voice.

“What are you going to do?” She asked, while wiping the tears from her cheeks and pulling away from my chest.

“Alpha Peter, is a reliable ally, he knows where the dungeon is and he’s drawing me a map of the place, as we speak. Once I get it, I’m going there with a team of my men, at night fall and we’re going to break her out.” I replied, while looking her in the eyes. There were so many emotions swirling within them, sadness, grief, admiration and concern.

“Isn’t that going to be dangerous.” She asked and I could now hear the concern in her voice.

“Yes, but the faster we get her out of there, the better.” I replied. I once again, thought about the torture and knew the faster we acted on this, the better it would be.

“Thank you.” She practically whispered, as her eyes met with mine. It pained me to see her so upset. The best thing I can do for her, is bring Beth home. I’m not good with emotions, I’m trying my very best to reassure and comfort her.

“Hopefully by tomorrow, we will have Beth here with us. Maybe then, we will also get some answers about you.” I said, while running my hand over her soft raven coloured hair. She leaned her head into my hand and closed her eyes.

“I don’t know what I would do without you, you have already done so much for me. How will I ever repay you?” She asked, while her eyes fluttered open and met with mine.

“When this is all over and Beth is safe, have dinner with me. All that I want, is to get to know you.” I replied, while running my finger along her cheek and over her red plump lips.

“Ok.” She said softly, while giving me a small smile. I could still see the sadness in her eyes.

“I’ll ask Josh to send Sam up, I need to go and put a plan together. Will you be ok?” I asked, with a frown. She simply nodded.

I stood up and gave her a hug, I really didn’t want to leave her, but I needed to get planning if this is going to work.

“My warriors are good, I know we can get to her. Try not to think negatively, ok?” I said and she again nodded. I placed a soft k**s on her cheek, before I left her room and made my way back to my office. It’s time to get planning.

I need to do this for Jess. I would be willing to go to war tonight, in order to bring Beth home. I just want to see Jess smiling again.

This woman is affecting me in ways I don’t understand. I’m finally starting to believe, that maybe she is my mate and hidden away under that spell somewhere, is our bond.

Jessica POV

I was so happy, when Alpha Colton enter my room. I thought he had come back to finish what he started. My smile quickly fell, when I took in his serious demeanour.

When he told me the news about my possible parents, I was overwhelmed with emotions. I felt confused and sad, but I was really concerned for Beth. If she’s been locked up in a cell for 6 months, god knows what kind of condition she’s in. Hopefully Alpha Colton and his men can rescue her.

I could tell Alpha Colton wasn’t use to comforting someone, he was trying his best for me. He held me in his arms and let me cry into his chest, his touch alone was comforting.

It was clear he didn’t like seeing me upset. I tried to hold it in, but my emotions were so strong, that there as no use trying to hide it.

Shortly after Alpha Colton left, Sam came into my room. I could tell that she knew already, by the pity in her eyes. She wrapped her arms around me and gave me a comforting hug.

“I’m so sorry Jess, they will save her, I just know it.” Sam said, in a comforting voice.

“I hope so, she’s the only parent I have left, if what I’ve been told is true.” I said, while wiping more tears from my cheeks.

“Colton might be a giant grump, but he’s a good man and I know when he says he’s going to do something, he will.” Sam said, with confidence.

“I know.” I replied in a low voice.

How about we watch a movie? Try and distract you for a while?” Sam offered.

“Sure.” I replied.

We sat on my bed and turned on the television. Sam flicked through the channels, but I wasn’t paying any attention.

My brain was a scrambled mess. I wanted Beth rescued, but I was also very worried about Alpha Colton. By the sounds of it, he was going on this rescue mission with his warriors. What if they get caught, or worse? I don’t even want to think about that.

I hate everything that’s happening right now and I wish that there was something I could do to help. I feel so useless.

Please goddess, let this mission work and bring home all my loved ones safely, I silently prayed.
