The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 37

Jessica POV

Sam and I stayed up in my room, anxiously waiting for Alpha Colton and Josh to return. The TV was on, but neither one of us was watching it.

They had been gone for 5 hours and I was starting to get nervous. They should be back soon, if everything went smoothly.

I was distracted from my thoughts, by a knock at the door. I jumped off the bed and ran to open it. I was hoping that it was Alpha Colton.

I was disappointed, when I discovered that it was only one of the warriors.

“Jess, I got a mind-link a few minutes ago from Alpha Colton. He asked for you to meet him at the hospital, they will be arriving back any minute.” The warrior informed me.

“Is he ok?” I asked, with a concerned frown.

“I’m sorry, he didn’t say anything further.” The warrior replied, with an apologetic look.

“Thank you.” I said and watched as the warrior nodded his head and walked away.

I turned around and found Sam was already standing and ready to go. She also had a concerned look on her face.

I sure hope the guys aren’t injured.

“Let’s go.” Sam said, as she walked out of the room and I followed her.

We made our way to the hospital, in silence. I could tell Sam was nervous, she’s probably worried for her mate, I don’t blame her.

Once we reached the hospital, we walked inside to replace the doctor already there and waiting. I was surprised that he was already there, he must of gotten a mind-link as well, asking him to meet them.

“Doctor, do you know if someone’s injured?” I asked, with a concerned frown. I really hope he had some information to ease our minds.

“No, sorry. I was just told to meet Alpha Colton here. He didn’t tell me what for.” The doctor replied.

Our conversation was cut short, when the hospital door flew open and all of our attention went to it.

Josh walked in first, followed by Alpha Colton who was holding a frail looking woman in his arms.

I froze in shock, when the woman looked at me. It was like looking in a mirror, only she was approximately 20 years older than me.

I watched as tears fell from her eyes and Alpha Colton put her down on her feet. Her legs were trembling, as she walked towards me. She looks so skinny and fragile.

I met her half way and she wrapped her around around my body in a tight hug.

“Oh my goddess, I’m so happy that you’re ok.” She said, in a shaky voice. I didn’t say anything. I knew right away, that I was related to the woman and although I couldn’t remember her, I felt a strong connection towards her.

“Doctor, Beth has been kept in a cell and mistreated for over 6 months. Can you assess her, please?” I heard Alpha Colton ask. Beth still hadn’t let go of me, her warm embrace was comforting.

“Yes Alpha. Beth, come with me please.” The doctor instructed. Beth pulled away from the hug and gave me one more look, like she couldn’t believe I was really there.

“We will give you some privacy with the doctor. I promise, we will be waiting right here. When the doctors done, you can spend all the time you want with your daughter.” Alpha Colton said and my eyes grew wide, as I processed his words. I mean, I kind of suspected that she was my mother, but having him confirm it out loud, made it all so real. Beth’s eyes never left mine, while he spoke. Eventually, she nodded her head and followed the doctor.

When she was out of sight, I turn to Alpha Colton.

“Thank you so much” I practically whispered, feeling so much gratitude for him.

He walked up to me and wrapped his arms around my body in a tight hug. I instantly relaxed and hugging him back, while resting my head on his chest.

“No need to thank me. I’m just happy we were successful.” He replied, while leaning down and kissing my forehead softly.

“Did the mission go smoothly?” I asked curiously.

“Yes, as smooth as it could of gone, but I have no idea how Alpha Ryan will react when he realizes that she’s gone.” He said with a frown, while pulling away from me.

“We should definitely look at increasing the border patrol. Who knows when he’s going to make a move.” Josh said and I glanced over at him. He was holding Sam tightly by the waist, clearly happy to be back beside his mate.

“Yes, that’s a good idea. Alpha Ryan is pretty hot headed, I suspect he will be out looking for Beth soon. He doesn’t know we rescued her, but I’m sure we will be his strongest suspects.” Alpha Colton replied.

Josh and Alpha Colton, where busy mind-linking with the warriors about increasing border patrol. While Sam and I, sat silently waiting for the doctor to come out.

15 minutes went by, when the examination door opened and the doctor stepped out.

“How is she?” I asked anxiously, as he was still walking towards us.

“She’s doing ok, she’s been through a lot and will need lots of rest. She’s severely malnourished and dehydrated. I’m putting her on a diet, so she can gain weight back safely. I want to keep her for a few days, for observation and I’m also going to run a few tests.” The doctor reported.

“Thank you, doctor. Can I see her?” I asked, in a hopeful tone.

“Yes, you can go and see her. Remember she needs to rest, so for now, keep it short.” The doctor ordered. I nodded my head and made my way to the room, I was nervous. I glanced back and noticed that everyone else stayed in the waiting room. I was thankful, I could really use some alone time with my mother.

I reached the door and lightly knocked, before opened it.

I saw my mother lying in the hospital bed, a blanket was partially covering her body and she was wearing a hospital gown.

I stood frozen in the door way, just looking at her for a moment, in disbelief. Her eyes were droopy and I could see how exhausted she was.

“Come sit.” She said, in a raspy dry voice. I complied and sat in the chair next to her.

“How are you feeling?” I asked softly.

“Better, now that I know you’re safe.” She said, with a small smile.

“I’m sorry that I had to wipe your memory. It was the only way to save you. If I hadn’t, I know you would of tried to rescue your father and I, and I couldn’t let you do it. Goddess knows, what Alpha Ryan would do to you, if he ever got his hands on you.” She said, with an apologetic look.

“Is it true? Did Alpha Ryan kill my father?” I asked, already knowing the answers but needing the confirmation. Tears started to run freely down her cheeks.

“Yes. When I get my strength back, I’ll remove the spell and you will remember everything that happened. But for now, I can give you a few of the details, so you understand why we did what we did.” She said and paused for a second before continuing. Tears were falling freezing from my eyes, knowing my farther was dead. I wish I could picture his face, but I can’t. Even though I don’t remember him, I can feel a part of me is missing.

“I’m a powerful witch and your father was a high ranking wolf, making you a rare hybrid. Usually, such hybrids will only inherit one parents abilities. On your 16th birthday, you turned into a beautiful black wolf and we assumed that you had inherited your fathered heritage. Until a few days later, when we started to noticed that you also had magic abilities. Alpha Ryan always had an unhealthy obsession with you. We decided to keep your magic a secret, knowing that if he knew you were special, he would of for sure taken you as his chosen mate, with or without your consent. He’s a power hungry man. We managed to hide it from him, until your 19th birthday.” She explained and paused to let me process everything she had said, before continuing.

“Your father and I, were out on the morning of your birthday, getting a cake and appetizers for your party. When we got home, the house was a complete mess, there was furniture thrown around everywhere. We found Alpha Ryan on top of you in the living room, he was trying to forcefully mate with you. Before we could stop him, you unintentionally used your magic and froze him in time, giving you a chance to escape before he did anything. That’s when your father and I, knew we needed to get you out of there. Your father stayed behind, so he could distract Alpha Ryan when the spell wore off, to give us enough time to get away. I brought you to the human City, but you argued and didn’t want to leave us. I masked your scent, so that Alpha Ryan’s men wouldn’t be able to track you and I had no choice, time was running out and I need to go back for my mate. I erase your memory so you wouldn’t come looking for us.” She said and I could see the regret and sadness in her eyes.

“What happened when you got back to the territory.” I asked softly and watched as more tears spilled from her eyes.

“Alpha Ryan had already murdered your father. He put a silver collar on my neck, that had a spell, preventing me from using my magic. He locked me up in cell, until Alpha Colton rescued me.” She said, I knew she was being brief on purpose, sparing me the gruesome details of what she endured. I can’t even imagine what he did to her, while she was his prisoner. If only I knew sooner, we could of rescued her faster. It was almost like she could hear my thoughts.

“There’s nothing you could of done. I intentionally wiped her memory, so you didn’t try and rescue us.” She said, while reaching over and brushing her fingers along my cheek. I closed my eyes and cherished the mother, daughter moment.

There was a knock at the door and the doctor walked in.

“I think we should let Beth rest, her body will heal faster when she gains some of her strength back.” The doctor said.

“I’ll be in the waiting room if you need anything, mom.” I said, loving how the word mom sounded.

“I love you, baby girl. You need some rest too, you look tired.” She replied.

“I will.” I leaned down and kissed her forehead, before leaving the room.

I can’t believe I found my mom. Things are finally coming together and I’m getting the answers, I so desperately wanted. I can’t wait to have my memory back.
