The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 39
Jessica POV
The k**s I shared with Alpha Colton was intense, we were so lost in the moment, that I didn’t notice Sam and Josh had returned. I was so embarrassed, when I realized that josh could smell my arousal, why did they have to witness that, I internally face planted.
“You and I are gonna chat later, about what I just witnessed.” Sam said excitedly, I didn’t answer and I certainly didn’t look at anyone. I was way to embarrassed.
We pulled up to our old apartment building. I was about to get out of the vehicle, when Alpha Colton’s phone rang. I watched, as he picked it up.
“Alpha Colton speaking.” I couldn’t hear the whole conversation, but I noticed his face turned serious and I could see the concern in his eyes. The conversation was short and after a few minutes he hung up the phone.
“That was Kyle, there was a breach at the border. Everything’s under control, but I need to make a few phone calls. Wait till I’m done and I’ll go up to the apartment with you guys.” Alpha Colton said, in a serious tone. He was looking down at his cellphone and was typing on it.
“Sam and I can run in, we’ll be quick.” I replied, while getting out of the vehicle. Alpha Colton wasn’t paying any attention to me, he was preoccupied on his cell. I don’t think he even processed what I said.
I had an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I wonder what happened back on the territory. Before I could ask him, his cellphone rang again and he picked it up.
“We’ll be fine. The doors to the building are locked, no one can get in without a key.” Sam added, while looking at Josh.
“Wait a minute, I just need to speak with Alpha Colton first and I’ll come in with you guys.” Josh replied, his eyes remained focused on Alpha Colton, who was having a conversation with someone on his phone.
“We only need 5 minutes.” Sam said, before kissing his cheek. Josh didn’t say anything further, he was preoccupied listening in on the conversation Alpha Colton was having.
“Let’s just go and get our things. They probably want to get back home as soon as possible.” Sam suggested, while turning her attention to me.
“Ya, I don’t need to grab much.” I replied and we made our way to the door. I glanced back and saw that both Alpha Colton and Josh, were now talking on their cellphones.
We got up to our apartment and unlocked the door, before walking in.
Sam walked in first and turned on the lights. It felt weird being back in the apartment, it use to feel like home, but not anymore. Now, I feel more at home in Alpha Colton’s pack house. I wonder how long he will let my mother and I live there. I really don’t know where else we would go, if we left his territory.
I was brought out of my thoughts, when the door slammed shut behind me, making me jump.
“You scared me, I thought you guys were bus….” I started to speak, while turning around. I instantly froze, when I saw Brad standing in front of the closed door.
I stepped backwards away from him, as flashbacks of what he did to me resurfaced and fear started to course through my veins.
Sam turned around and noticed Brad.
“Oh my god, Brad! I missed you.” Sam squealed out excited and before I could react, she ran past me and hugged him. Brad didn’t say anything, his eyes remained locked with mine. He had a serious, yet dangerous look in his eyes.
“Sam he’s not …” I started to warn, but wasn’t fast enough.
He pulled something out of his back pocket and spun Sam around, so her back was pressed against his front. He quickly covered her mouth with what looked like a cloth. Her eyes went wide and I could hear her trying to scream, but it was all muffled.
I ran over and tried to pull her away from Brad, but I couldn’t. A few seconds later, Sam’s body fell limp in his arms and she was unconscious.
I backed away from them, as Brad laid her down on the ground. Sheer panic was coursing through me. What is he going to do?
“I missed you, Jess.” He said, while stalking towards me. I could see the l**t swirling in his eyes and a disgusted shiver ran down my spine.
I continued stepping backwards, until I hit a wall. He slowly walked towards me, his eyes remained locked with mine.
“W-What do you w-want?” I asked, in a shaky voice.
“You.” He replied, with a smirk on his face.
My eyes darted around the room, looking for anything that might help me fight him off. I quickly picked up the lamp from the coffee table and held it in front of me, in a threatening manner.
“Backup!” I shouted, while swinging the lamp. He took one step back and raised his hands up in surrender.
“Calm down, Jessica.” Brad said, in a calm but dangerous tone.
“I have friends downstairs, they’re on their way up, you better leave before they get here.” I blurted out, trying to sound convincing. He laughed dryly, before replying.
“You mean, your new boyfriend? I heard you’ve shacked up with the guy from the club.” He replied and I frowned at his words. What is he talking about?
“I don’t know what your talking about, just let us go, please.” I begged, as tear ran down my cheeks.
“You don’t know what I’m talking about? He repeated, while laughing dryly.
“The guy from the club, you know, the one that you allowed to suck on your neck, while you rubbed up against him, like a whore.” He spat out angrily.
What? Was it Alpha Colton, the guy that I danced with that night? That’s not possible, he would of told me if it was him, wouldn’t he?
I was distracted by his words, that I didn’t notice when Brad lunged at me. He knocked the lamp out of my hands and wrapped his arms around my body.
I struggled in his hold and screamed out for help, but he quickly covered my mouth, with the same cloth he used on Sam.
My vision started to blur and my eyes became heavy. I knew that I was quickly losing consciousness.
“Sleep princess.” He whispered into my ear, as darkness consumed me.

Alpha Colton POV
When we arrived at the apartment, Kyle called me to report a border breach.
He said, that 5 rogues had entered the territory unnoticed by patrol and appeared to be scooting. When they were confronted, 3 got away, one was killed and the fifth was captured alive. I was pleased that they captured one and was really looking forward to questioning him.
I had asked the girls to wait for me, but while I was on the phone, they went inside by themselves.
Josh stayed outside with me and was helping me get in touch with the neighbouring packs. I was curious to know, if any of them had anything similar happen on their territory. The whole incident seemed suspicious to me.
I had been on the phone for 15 minutes, when I finally realized the girls had gone inside without us.
“They went inside without us.” I told Josh, who had just hung up his phone. He looked around with his eyes, confirming my statement for himself.
“s**t! I told them to wait for me.” He replied, with a concerned frown.
I was feeling uneasy and Hector was on edge in my head. I had a bad feeling In my gut and something was telling me to go and check on them.
I walked up to the front door and yanked on it, hard enough to break the handle and the locking mechanism. The door opened and Josh and I made our way to the elevators.
When we reached the apartment, I swung the door open and panic tore through me, as I took in the condition of the place. It was ransacked, things were broken and thrown around everywhere.
“Sam, Jess!” I shouted, as I ran inside and started looking around for them.
Josh was helping me search for them. It was a small apartment, so it didn’t take us long.
“They aren’t here. f**k!” Josh said and I could hear the panic in his voice.
“Let’s go check the backdoor. We would of seen them, if they had come out the front. Whoever took the girl, must of used the alley.” I said, as I took off running out of the apartment, towards the stairs. I could hear Josh wasn’t far behind me.
We reached the back doors in record time. I swung it open, but was disappointed to see the alley was empty. We must of just missed them, I thought to myself.
“f**k!” I shouted out, while punching the brick wall.
“Who took them? Do you think it’s Alpha Ryan?” Josh asked, while nervously running his fingers through his hair.
“I don’t know, but I only picked up one other scent in the apartment and it was human. That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t Alpha Ryan, he could have humans working for him.” I replied, while thinking of who the unknown scent could belong to.
“The only other person Sam has ever mentioned, was a guy named Brad, he also happens to be Jess’s old boss. Once, when Sam brought his name up, Jess acted weird. She seemed nervous when she heard his name.” Josh said, with concern in his tone.
“I wonder what happened between her and that guy, he was the one who walked Sam and Jess home, the night they went to the club. Let’s go to the coffee shop, I want to have a word with him.” I replied.
We headed for the front of the building, where our vehicle was parked.
Once we reached the coffee shop, we went inside and found a young woman working behind the counter. Brad was nowhere insight.
“What can I get for you?” She asked, with a smile on her face.
“We need to speak with Brad, is he here?” I asked, in a serious tone.
“No, he sold the place a few days ago.” She replied, while still smiling.
“Do you know where I can replace him?” I asked.
“No, he didn’t really give us any heads up, one day he was here and the next day, there was new owners and he had disappeared.” She replied, her smile had now vanished, as she noticed how serious we were being.
“Do you have his phone number?” I asked.
“I’m sorry I can’t give that…” she started to reply, but I cut her off.
“Give it to me.” I growled out angrily. Her eyes went wide in shock and her body started to tremble.
“O-Ok I’ll give it to y-you.” She said in a shaky voice, while reaching for her phone on the counter. With shaky hands, she unlocked her phone and found his contact information, before handing me the phone. I took it and entered his number on my phone.
“Thank you.” I said calmly, before Josh and I left the coffee shop.
It’s time to give Brad a call. If he had anything to do with taking the girls, he’s a dead man.
