The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 41

Alpha Colton POV

I tried calling Brad’s cellphone, but it went straight to voicemail. I couldn’t control the emotions that were coursing through me, It was overwhelmed. What if we don’t replace them in time? I have to replace Jessica before it’s too late.

Josh and I were heading back to the pack house, he was driving like a mad man. I knew he was just as concerned as I was.

He was gripping the steering wheel so tight, his knuckles where white.

“We’re going to replace them, Josh.” I said, with a determined voice while glancing over at him.

“We have to, Sam is my whole life. I just found her Colton, I can’t lose her.” Josh said, in a low broken voice. I could feel the pain and fear rolling off him in waves.

He rarely addresses me so informally, that’s how I knew he’s talking to me as a friend and not his Alpha. I didn’t know what else to say? I felt the same way. Jess just came into my life and whether she’s my mate or not, I’m not ready to lose her. Whoever took them, will pay with their lives, that I swear.

We pulled up to the pack house and saw Beth standing outside with concerned look on her face. I had already notified Kyle of what happened through the link and he must of told Beth. s**t! She’s still not at full strength, I know this isn’t going to go over well. She just got her daughter back, how is she going to react to her being kidnapped? I got out of the vehicle and made my way up the steps.

“Where is she!” Beth spat out the question, as soon as I stepped out of the vehicle.

“We don’t know yet, they were taken from their old apartment. The only other scent inside the apartment, was human.” I replied, with a frown. I felt ashamed, I promised to keep them safe and I failed. I should of been paying more attention and never let them go in there without me.

“It has to been Alpha Ryan, I know it’s him.” Beth said, sounding panicked. She walked passed me and started to descent the stairs towards the driveway.

“Where are you going?” I asked, with concern lacing my words.

“To replace my baby girl.” She replied shortly, I could hear the anger in her tone.

“You’re not strong enough yet, you haven’t fully recove…” I started to say, as I went after her and grabbed her arm.

As soon as my hand gripped her arm, she turned to look at me and I froze in shock. She had the same emerald coloured eyes as Jess, but they were glowing brightly with gold specs swirling in them. Before I could process what was happening, I felt a current of electricity run from my fingers up my arm, before my body was violent thrown back 20 feet away. I would of been thrown further, if it hadn’t been for the pack house door that stopped me abruptly. I hit it so hard, that the door splintered down the middle.

I laid on the ground completely daze for a minute, trying to catch my breath that had been knocked out of me on impact. I slowly got back on my feet, still trying to understand what had just happened.

I look over to see that Beth had made it down the stairs and was continuing to walk away. My warriors had move in and were trying to stop her, after what she had done to me but they couldn’t. She was throwing them away with some kind of force, before they could even get their hands on her. It was a shocking scene, she’s a powerful witch, that was clear.

“Let her go!” I commanded and my warriors instantly stopped. Beth stopped in her tracks. She turned to look at me, with a surprised look on her face.

“I’m on your side. I promise, we will replace her and bring her home. I’ll kill anyone who laid a finger on her, that I swear on my life.” I said, in a serious tone and meant every word. She looked at me for a minute, without saying anything. I could see curiosity swirling in her eyes. Since she wasn’t saying anything, I spoke again.

“Listen, we will be stronger if we work together, but first we need a plan. If you go after her alone, you risked getting captured or worse…” I said and trailed off at the end. She knew what I meant, I saw it in her face. Tears, started running down her cheeks, her anger faded and was replaced by sadness and desperation.

“Why are you even willing to help her? What’s in it for you?” She asked and I knew she was hesitant to trusting me. I was silent for a minute, I didn’t know how to answer that question.

“I think they’re mates, but your spell is preventing them from recognizing each other.” Josh blurted out, from behind me. I turned my head and glared at him, what the hell is he thinking. Josh simply responded with a shoulder shrug. I shook my head and turned my attention back to Beth. We have more important matters at the moment to worry about, then to argue.

Beth had a shocked expression on her face and seemed deep in thought. I could see she was having an internal battle with herself, on whether to trust me or go off on her own.

“At least come inside and hear us out.” I said, while motioning to the door. Im not going to lie, I want her help after seeing what she’s capable of. She’s a force to be reckoned with and she’s not even at full strength.

She didn’t answer, but started to walk towards us. I let out a relieve breath, that I didn’t realize I was holding.

Not only is she powerful, but she also knows Alpha Ryan better than any of us. If he’s responsible for taking Jess and Sam, Beth could be extremely helpful with her knowledge of his pack and territory.

“What’s your plan Alpha?” She asked, as we walked through the front door.

“There was a breach on my territory, while we were in the City with Sam and Jess. I’m starting to think it was a distraction. My warriors managed to capture one of the intruders, alive. He’s in cells. I think we should question him, replace out who sent him. That will be our starting point.” I replied.

“Lead the way, I’ll make him talk.” Beth said, with a dangerous glint in her eyes.

I didn’t waste time and lead her towards the dungeon. Josh followed us.

We descended the stone stairs into the damp and cold underground dungeon. I nodded to the guard at the bottom, who bowed his head in submission when he saw me.

“Where is he?” I asked sternly.

“At the end of the hall, Alpha. The last cell on the right.” The guard responded.

We walked down the hall and stopped in front of the last cell that was occupied.

There was a man in his mid 30’s chained to a chair and appeared unconscious. He was in rough shape, I could see the bruises and b***d that coated his body. That must of been from my warriors when they apprehended him.

I glanced over at Beth and Josh. Josh had a murderous look in his eyes and I could tell he was trying to keep his wolf from taking control. Beth’s nose was scrunched up and I knew it was from the overpowering smell of urine and feces.

“Open the door.” She ordered and I froze for a moment, taken aback that she was the one ordering me, the Alpha. She looked at me and gave me the, what are you waiting for look. I shook my head in disbelief, but didn’t argue, I quickly unlocked the door and slid it open.

Josh walked up to the rogue and slapped him hard in the face, causing him to stir awake.

“Wake up!” I commanded, while kicking the rogue in the chin, my patience had left me a long time ago. I wanted him to answer our questions, immediately.

I saw his eyes slowly open, before he glance around the room. When his eyes met mine, an amused smirk formed on his face.

“What were you doing on my territory?” I asked and he laughed.

“I’m not going to ask ag…” I started to say, but froze in shock when he started to convulse violently. Spit was flying out of his mouth, his face was bright red and the veins along his neck, where practically exploding out of his skin.

I looked over at Beth and her eyes were the same colour they were, when she sent me flying early.

“Answer the question!” Beth said, in a calm yet deadly voice. I watched, as the rogue stopped convulsing and was now gasping for air.

“W-what the f-f**k was t-that?” He stuttered, while trying to catch his breath.

“Last chance.” She said and I saw her eyes starting to swirl brightly again.

“Don’t, I’ll talk!” The rogue shouted, with fear in his eyes. He took a few more breaths before he continued.

“Alpha Ryan sent us. It was a distraction for something, but we weren’t told what for.” He blurted out.

“What was in it for you? You’re a rogue, why help him?” I asked, not understanding why Alpha Ryan would use rogues instead of his own men.

“Money, lots of it. He didn’t want the attack linked back to him. Initially, we were ordered to gather intel on your patrol and security, but when you left with a couple girls, our mission changed. We were ordered to cause a border breach. We tried to leave before yours warriors caught on to us, but we ended up surrounded and well, here I am.” He said, while glancing nervously between the three of us.

“What else can you tell me?” I asked.

“That’s all I know, I’m not part of his pack, he just pays me to do his dirty work, sometime.” He replied and I nodded.

“Kill him.” I instructed, while looking at Josh.

“Allow me.” Beth replied, in a dangerous tone. I glanced over and saw the sinister look in her eyes.

This woman is not what I expected, she’s ruthless. I can tell she’ll stop at nothing to get her baby girl back and that’s exactly how I feel. I think her and I, are going to see eye to eye on how to handle this moving forward.

I nodded my head at her, before turning around and walking out of the cell. As I walked down the hall towards the exit doors, I heard the most ear piercing screams I had ever heard. They only lasted a minute, before everything went silent.

I made my way up to my office to start planning our next move, we need to be smart about this. We likely only have one chance and I don’t want to screw it up. Having said that, we also need to move fast before he hurts them.

I think it’s time to contact Alpha Peter, my ally. I think we could use some help, this might get ugly.
