The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 43

Jessica POV

Everything hurt, my body felt like I had been run over by a train. I g*****d out, as my eyes started to flutter open. I felt frozen and whatever I was laying on was hard, cold and damp. After several attempts I was finally able to open my eyes and take in my surroundings.

I was in a dark room, with stone walls and metal bars. That’s when my memory of what happened before I went unconscious, came back to me.

s**t! I’m in a cell, I thought to myself. I tried to get up, but my body felt weak and stiff from the beating Alpha Ryan gave me. I looked down to see that I was laying on the cold stone floor. I got onto my hands and knees and crawled towards the metal bars.

“S-Sam?!” I whisper yelled, my throat was so dry that my voice cracked in the process. I didn’t get a response. I looked out into the hallway and saw that there were several other cells, that lined the wall.

In the cell directly across from me, I saw a dark figure curled up in the corner. I recognized her clothe and knew immediately that it was Sam. Panic set it, she’s still not respond to my calls. I called her name a few more times, until I finally saw her move slightly. I let out a relieved sight she’s alive, thank the moon goddess.

“Sam, please wake up.” I begged.

“Mmmmm, what happened?” Sam asked, in a groggy voice. She was stirring more and more and appeared to be slowly waking up.

“We were kidnapped Sam. Please look at me.” I replied, with desperation in my voice. I watched as she turned her body towards me, while still lying on the floor. I could finally see her face, her eyes were open but only slightly. I could see the confused look on her face, as she struggled to remember what happened.

“Brad, he did this. I wanted to tell you sooner, but with everything going on, I never got a chance. The night we were brought to Alpha Colton’s territory, Brad had tried to rape me.” I confessed, in a shaky voice. A shiver ran down my spine, as I remembered what he tried to do.

“What?” Sam asked, while she sat up and rubbed her eyes. Clearly still trying to process what was happening. I stayed silent, giving her a chance to wake up and process my words.

I watched as she froze for a moment, her hands still covering her eyes. All of a sudden, she sprung up onto her feet and ran to the metal bars of her cell.

“Oh my god Jess, Brad did this? Why didn’t you tell me sooner? What are we going to do? What does he want with us? Is he going to kill us? f**k that! I’m going to kill that piece of s**t first. How dare he try to hurt you!” Sam blurted out, her voice turning from concern to anger by the end of her rant.

“He was helping that guy, Alpha Ryan. I think we are on his territory.” I replied in a low voice. I knew we were in trouble, everything about Alpha Ryan screams danger. I thought back to the memory I had of him, when he tried to force himself on me. Panic started to flood through me. Oh goddess, if you’re listening, please help us get out of here.

“Josh and Colton will replace us, I just know it. They’re probably going out of their minds right now looking for us.” Sam said, with a determined voice. Before I could respond, Sam spoke again.

“Hey, what’s that on your neck?” Sam asked, while pointing through the bars towards me. I lifted my hands, only for them to land on a hard cold surface. That’s when I realized that I had some sort of metal collar on. I hadn’t noticed early, probably because of my state of shock, but the collar was irritating my skin and burned everywhere it touched.

“I think this is to suppress my abilities, if I had access to them. My mom told me, that Alpha Ryan had used one on her when she was his prisoner and it prevented her from using her magic.” I replied, with a frown. It’s not like I could use my magic, but every now and then, when I found myself in a bad situation, I had been able to use a bit of magic. Now, I won’t even have that.

I was brought out of my thoughts, when I heard two sets of foot steps, coming down the hall towards us. I glanced over at Sam and saw panic wash over her face, as she backed away from the bars towards the back of her cell. I did the same thing and my heart started beating fast.

The footsteps slow and stopped directly in front of my cell. I slowly lifted my eyes to replace Alpha Ryan and Brad, standing by my cell door looking in on me. Brad had a blank expression on his face, for a second, I thought I saw a flash of regret, but I can’t be sure, he was quick to hid it. Alpha Ryan on the other hand, had the same sinister smirk on his face that he seems to always have.

“You’re awake.” He said, in an amused tone.

“What do you want, a*****e?” Sam spat out, from behind them. She was trying to sound confident, but I could hear the concern in her voice.

Alpha Ryan turned to look at Sam, I don’t think he had noticed that she was also awake.

“Well, well, well, isn’t this little human brave. That’s going to change, don’t you worry.” Alpha Ryan said, while chuckling dryly.

“Leave her alone, I’m who you want!” I shouted, wanting him to to pay attention to me, not Sam. I really wish Sam would shut up right now, she doesn’t understand the mess we’re in. Her tough attitude, is only going to get her into more trouble.

Alpha Ryan turned his attention back towards me, but I could see Brad glancing back and forth between the two cells and I was sure I saw regret in his eyes this time.

“Bring her to my office. It’s time we have a little chat.” Alpha Ryan instructed, while motion with his hand towards me. Brad nodded his head, before Alpha Ryan turned and walked off down the hall, leaving us alone with Brad.

When I no longer could hear Alpha Ryan, Sam ran towards the bars of her cell.

“I’m going to f*****g kill you!” She shouted angrily, while reaching her arms through the bars trying to get ahold of Brad. I knew she felt betrayed. Brad really had us both fooled, he acted like our best friend and then betrayed us in the worst possible way.

“Calm down!” Brad barked, while jumping out of her reach.

“How could you do that to your friend? You tried to rape her!!! If I get out of this cell, your going to wish you where never born.” Sam spat out, with so much venom in her voice. I had never heard her this angry.

“Listen, I’m sorry. I just lost it, she let some random guy rub all over her on the dance floor, but dare to refuse me, I couldn’t help myself. She should of never turned me down.” Brad replied l, with an angry tone and glanced over at me.

“You’re a loser, no wonder she wasn’t interested in you.” Sam laughed out. Earning her a deadly glare from Brad.

“We need to go up to his office, before he gets mad.” Brad said, while turning his attention back to me. He walked up to my cell and unlocked it with a key, before pushing the door open.

“Why are you doing this?” I asked, in a panicked voice, while backing away from him. He let out a heavy sigh.

“Listen, I’m sorry ok. He told me he wouldn’t hurt you and I made the mistake of believing him. He’ll kill all of us if we don’t do as he says, so just cooperate if you want to stay alive.” Brad said in a serious tone.

“We’re in this mess because of you! Don’t you dare take her to him.” Sam spat, while pulling at the bars to her cell, trying to break free. It was no use, they didn’t even budge.

Brad glanced over at Sam, giving her another glare, before quickly turned his attention back to me and approached where I stood, with my back against the wall.

“Just come, I won’t let him hurt you.” Brad said, while grabbing ahold of my arm.

“Pfffttt…Bullshit!” Sam spat out.

I pulled my arm back, trying to get out of Brad’s grip, but I couldn’t, he was to strong. I lifted my knee and it connect with his groin. He let out a “ow” as his body buckled over in pain. His grip loosened around my arm and I was able to pull free from his hold.

I ran out of the cell and was relieved to see, that he had left the key in the door. I quickly slammed the door shut and used the key to lock it, trapping Brad inside.

“Unlock that door right now!” Brad shouted angrily. I didn’t listen, I removed the key and turned to Sam’s cell. I put the key in and let out a relieve breath, when the same key worked on her cell door.

Before I could get to excited, I heard steps quickly approaching from down the hall. s**t, Alpha Ryan came back, I thought to myself.

“What’s going on here?” I heard a males voice asked, as he came into sight. He looked like a guard, he was huge, maybe 6’3, muscular, around 30 years old, with short brown hair.

“Ohhh ummm, Alpha Ryan wanted to see me, I was just going to his office.” I replied nervously, while backing away from Sam’s cell. The guard started to close the distance between us, it was clear he knew something was up. He had passed by Sam’s cell, where I had just unlocked and opened her door, but he didn’t seem to notice, his attention was focuses on me.

“She’s lying, she locked me in here!” Brad shouted, drawing the guards attention away from me.

Before he could even grasp what was happening, Sam shot out of her cell like a deranged mental person, screaming like banshee. She launched herself towards the guard, who had his back turned to her and wrapped her arms around his throat. She had him in a solid choke hold. It was another move that we had learned in self defence classes, it doesn’t matter your size or strength, if you apply this move correctly, there’s no way of breaking free.

The guard grabbed onto Sam’s arm that was wrapped around his throat, in an attempt to remove it, but he couldn’t. He was slamming Sam against the wall from behind, but she was holding on for dear life. I could see the determination in her eyes, there’s no way she was letting go. I needed to do something to help her, her back was taking quite the beating.

I lunged forward and punched him in the groin, he instantly let go of Sam’s arm and bent over in pain. Sam continued to apply pressure to his throat and within a minute, he fell to his knees. You could see he was loosing the fight to hold on, his eyes started to shut and he was gasping for air. Seconds later, he laid on the cold stone floor completely unconscious. Sam was still holding on, she hadn’t realized that he was unconscious.

“Sam, you did it, he’s out. We need to move.” I said, while gently squeezing her shoulder. She looked up at me, with murderous look in her eyes, until she had processed what I said. She glanced down and took in the now unconscious guard, realizing that the choke hold worked. Her expression turned to relief, as she stood up from the ground.

“Help me pull him in there.” I said, while pointing towards the cell that Sam had been locked in. She nodded and grabbed ahold of one of his arms, while I grabbed the other. We pulled him into the cell and quickly locked the door, trapping him in there.

“You won’t get far. Let me out, I can help you guys.” Brad pleaded. Sam snorted at his words and shot him a deadly glare.

“I hope you rot in that cell.” Sam growled out between gritted teeth, before literally spitting in Brad’s face.

“Let’s hurry, we need to get out of here.” I said nervously, drawing Sam’s attention to me.

We quickly, but cautiously made our way down the hallway. Luckily we didn’t encounter anyone else. We came to a set up stairs that went up and climbed them. There was a large heady wooden door at the top of the stairs. I slowly opened and realized that it lead outside. I looked around to make sure the coast was clear, before we both step outside.

It’s now or never, we need to get out of this place, I thought to myself. We took off in a full sprint towards the trees.
