The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 56
Alpha Colton POV
Everyone gathered in a circle outside of the pack house. Pretty much in the same spot that I had defeated Alpha Ryan, only a few days ago. This fight felt off for some reason. Alpha Philip seemed overly confident and it had me on edge. Something in my gut, was telling me that he wasn’t going to fight fair. I will need to be extra cautious, I thought to myself. Hector felt the same, his senses were telling him that danger was near, but there wasn’t much we could do about it.
Alpha Philip had brought a lot of his men, but I knew if he fought dirty and this turned into a war, the men I brought with me and the warriors from the Cold Stone Pack, could easily defeat his men.
“Alpha, I have a bad feeling about this.” Josh whispered, low enough so no one else could hear him.
“I know, I’ve got that feeling too. Make sure the warriors are on high alert. I have a feeling he’s got something dirty up his sleeve.” I replied and Josh nodded.
He looked concerned, he could sense things weren’t right as much as I could. The problem is, without proof there’s nothing I can do about it. Once a challenge is called, if you refused it’s an automatically loss and you have to surrender everything to the challenger. That’s not something I would even consider doing. I can’t call off the fight simply for a gut feeling, that would make me look weak and afraid, which is also not something I’m willing to do.
“Alpha Colton, this could of all been avoided if you were a man of your word and made my daughter your Luna. Your actions have made you new enemies and now you will pay the ultimate price.” Alpha Philip said, with a taunting smirk on his face.
“I wouldn’t count yourself victorious yet, Alpha. It wasn’t long ago that Alpha Ryan fell to his death, in this exact same spot.” I spat back, but his smirk never faded, nor did his confidence.
“You know, Alpha Ryan was a foolish man, his ego and obsession with that w***e of yours, was his downfall. Seems like the same w***e, is also going to be yours.” He taunted.
“Don’t talk about my mate like that.” I growled out. My b***d was boiling and I wanting nothing more than to end him right this second, for his disrespect towards my mate. I saw a flash of shock in his eyes, when I referred to Jess as my mate, but he was quick to hide it.
“Mate or not. We had a deal and you broke it. Therefor, I will be teaching you a lesson here today.” Alpha Philip replied.
“We will see about that.” I said, with venom coating my words.
“Everyone, listen up.” One of the warriors announced and the crowd went silent.
“As you are aware, when an Alpha is challenged, it’s a fight till death. You are permitted to fight in both, human form and wolf form. The winner inherited all of the assets and titles the other Alpha possesses. Understood?” The warrior explained, while glancing between Alpha Philip and I.
“Yes.” We both replied in unison, while our eyes remained locked on one another.
“Good. On your mark, get set, go!” The warrior shouted, as he backed out of the circle, leaving Alpha Philip’s and I alone.
“Good luck.” Alpha Philip’s spat out, with the same dangerous smirk on his face. I decided not to answer him and kept my focus on his movements.
We circled each other cautiously, both looking for any weaknesses the other may have.
I noticed his right shoulder was lower and his neck was exposed, I quickly lunged forward and threw my leg up, successfully kicking him on the side of his face and neck. He fell to the ground with a thud, but was quick to jump back onto his feet.
At least that action, was enough to wipe the smirk off his face and he looked pissed off. Good, I thought to myself, if he’s angry he’ll make stupid mistakes.
It didn’t take long for him to lung at me, I predicted his move and quickly sidestep him. He slid past me, but not before I extended my leg and successfully caught his legs, causing him to fall to the ground. An “ow” left his lips on impact.
I didn’t waste time and quickly jumped on top of him. I threw my elbow into his face, causing a sickening crack sound. B***d sprayed everywhere and I knew I had broken his nose.
I was about to punch him in the face again, when I felt a prick on my arm, where his hand landed. It didn’t take long for me to realize what he did, he drugged me. He must of had something in his palm, that was laced with wolfbane.
Within seconds, I started to feel the effects of the drug, my vision was spinning and I was sweating profusely. He didn’t administer enough to knock me out, only a low amount that would weaken me and prevent me from shifting.
He had put some thought into this, because if I was unconscious right away, people would be suspicious of him using foul play. But since I’m still awake, no one would know anything was wrong with me and he can now easily kill me, by shifting.
“That’s for my daughter.” He growled next to my ear, in such a low voice, only I could hear him.
Before I knew what was happening, he pushed me off him and got back onto his feet. I did the same, but it was like I was intoxicated, I was stumbling and swaying all over the place.
“Alpha, what’s wrong?” I heard Josh’s concerned voice through the mind-link, his words sounded slurred.
“H-He drugged m-me.” I struggled to reply.
I shook my head trying to focus on the fight, but it felt so heavy, it only made me dizzier.
Alpha Philip lunged with his fist c****d. He landed a hard punch to my jaw, making my vision even more blurred. It was taking everything in me to stay conscious and on my feet.
I turned around to face him again, but because of the drug, my movements were delayed and I had next to no reflex skills. Alpha Philip had his fist ready and like it was happening in slow motion, he brought it into my face with as much force as he could muster.
I had nothing left, I fell to the ground with a hard thud. My vision was almost completely dark at this point, but I was still slightly conscious.
Fear coursed through me. I wasn’t scared of dying, no, I was scared of never seeing Jessica again. I was scared of hurting her and making her suffer the loss of her mate. I wish I could see her one more time before I die.
I laid on the ground motionless, the drugs and beating had taken a toll on me. I knew I was done, I couldn’t even communicate with Hector, so he wouldn’t be able to help us.
“Get up!” I vaguely recall hearing Josh yelling at me, with so much desperation in his voice.
I could feel the fear from my new pack members, even if we hadn’t had the ceremony yet. They weren’t expecting to see me fall today and it was destroying me inside, knowing that I had let them down.
I knew Alpha Philip had something planned, but I never though he would go this low and drug me to secure his win.
“Looks like your Alpha won’t be winning his fight.” Alpha Philip announced, with an amused tone.
“You drugged him!” I heard Josh’s accusatory voice.
“Don’t be a sore loser, I won this fight fair and square. Now, it’s time for me to end him.” I heard Alpha Philip’s sadistic voice, beaming through the pleas and cries of the crowd.
I was fighting with everything I had to stay conscious, but I couldn’t, as blackness consumed me, the last thing I saw, was Alpha Philip shifting into his large brown wolf.
—————
Josh POV
I knew something was wrong, as soon as I saw Alpha Colton trying to stand up. He hadn’t even taken a punch form Alpha Philip’s but he looked dazed. I started to get concerned, he can’t lose this fight, or we will lose everything.
Alpha Colton confirmed my fears, when he told me that he had been drugged. As soon as he said that, I knew we were done. Using a drug to weaken your opponent is highly illegal, but how do you prove it in the middle of a fight?
I saw my Alpha take a couple hard hits to the face, before he fell to the ground. He was losing this fight, I needed to do something and fast.
As soon as I accused Alpha Philip of drugging Alpha Colton, our warriors went on high alert and were ready to fight if I gave the order. I was actually surprised to see even the Cold Stone Pack warriors, were ready to fight for Alpha Colton. That’s how well respected he is, even people who barely know him, are willing to die fighting for him.
Alpha Philip wasn’t even fazed by my accusation, he quickly shifted into his wolf and slowly stalked towards Alpha Colton, who was now unconscious.
Before I could tell my warriors to attack, I saw hundreds of warriors coming out of the forest towards us. Some were from Alpha Philip’s pack and some I recognized from the Fire Sky Pack. They are ally’s of Alpha Philips, they must of joined sides with him in this attack, to take out Alpha Colton. s**t, we are severely outnumbered. There’s no way we can win this, but we certainly won’t go down without a fight.
“Warriors! Defend our Land!” I shouted, before shifting into my wolf. I saw all my men follow my lead and the battle erupted. My men collided with Alpha Philip’s men and the area quickly turned into a b***d bath. I saw some of my men fighting 3-4 wolves at a time, this wasn’t good. The numbers certainly weren’t on our side.
I brought my attention back to Alpha Colton, he needed me. I didn’t waste anymore time and lunged at Alpha Philip, knocking him away from Alpha Colton, before he could kill him. I’m ready to sacrifice my life to protect my Alpha. I stood protectively over his body, as Alpha Philip’s got up. He growled vicious and I matched it with my own growl, showing him no signs of fear.
I might not be of Alpha B***d, but I’m going to give it my all. I stood my ground, while Aloha Philip’s circled me. I kept my eyes locked with his and waited for him to make a move.
It didn’t take him long, before he lunged at me, I tried to move out of the way, but he bite down on my shoulder. The pain shot through me, as I thrashed my body to break free from his hold. With all my weight, I threw myself against him, knocking us both into a tree. The impact caused him to release his hold on me. I took the opportunity to swing my head around and bite down onto his hind leg. He yelped in pain, as I bit down even harder.
Another wolf, jumped onto my back and I had to let go of Alpha Philip. This new wolf, had his claws dug into my skin tearing it open, while he tried to get ahold of my neck.
More wolves joined in and before I knew it, I was outnumbered four to one. I was bleeding heavily, but the adrenaline kept me going. The pain I felt, was only fuelling the fight I had left in me.
I don’t know where Alpha Philip’s went, but he wasn’t amongst the wolves I was fighting any longer. I glanced over, to see Alpha Colton was still laying unconscious on the ground and there was a wolf stalking towards him. I tried to fight my way over to where he was lying, but it was no use.
Within minutes, I was pinned to the ground, while all four wolves bite down on different parts of me. I could feel the life slipping from my body. I don’t know how much longer I can hold on.
“I’m sorry Alpha, I failed you.” I mumbled the words, when I knew the end was near. Darkness started to consume me and the only picture I could see, was of Sam’s beautiful face. Goddess, please take care of her when I’m gone, I silently prayed.
All of a sudden, I couldn’t feel the wolves biting down on me anymore and their body weight was no longer crushing me. Where did they go? Did I die, is that why I can’t feel them anymore?
