Chapter 68

Alpha Colton POV

I was in my office going over the training schedule with Josh, when there was a knock at the door.

“Come in” I announced.

The door opened and my Gamma, Kyle, walked in.

“Alpha, I just got an update from the spies and they think Alpha Philip’s is up to something.” Kyle reported, as he took a seat next to Josh.

“What do you mean?” I asked with a concerned frown.

“His warriors didn’t train today and there’s been a lot of movement around the pack. Alpha Philip’s also had a visit form a woman who showed up in a black sports car. We got the license plate and did some research, turns out she’s a witch. The only information we could replace on her was from over 20 years ago. She’s kept a low profile since then. She was part of the Silver Reserve Coven back then, her name’s Gretchen.” Kyle continued.

“That’s the same coven Bethany belonged to. I’ll talk to her and replace out if she recognizes the name. In the mean time, let’s get our border ready. If Alpha Philip’s men aren’t training, that likely means he’s planning an attack. Keep in close contact with our spies, as soon as he starts to move, I want to know about it.” I ordered. My wolf was starting to pace in my head, he could sense something was coming.

“Yes, Alpha.” Kyle replied, with a nod.

I picked up the phone and called Alpha Peter. I wanted to get all the information I could possibly get on this witch, Gretchen. If she’s anywhere near as powerful as my mate and her mother, she may be a problem.

“Good morning Alpha Peter, it’s Alpha Colton calling.” I greeted, once he picked up the phone.

“Alpha Colton, how are you?” Alpha Peter asked.

“I’m good, but it looks like Alpha Philip’s might be planning something. There’s been a lot of movement on his territory and he recently met with a witch. I’m wondering if I can speak with Beth, I’m hoping she might recognize the name.” I asked, in a hopeful tone.

“Of course, give me a second she’s here with me, I’ll pass her the phone.” Alpha Peter explained and I waited for Beth to speak.

“Good morning Colton, how are you?” I heard Beth greet.

“I’m good, thank you. I was hoping you might be able to help me with something.” I asked, getting straight to the point.

“Of course, what is it?” She replied in a curious tone.

“A witch recently visited Alpha Philip and we believe she belonged to the same coven as you did years ago. Do you recognize the name, Gretchen?” I asked.

The line went completely silent for several minutes, I actually thought we might of been disconnected.

“Beth? Are you still there?” I asked and heard her gulp before she replied.

“She’s my cousin.” Beth replied in such a low voice I almost didn’t hear her.

I knew right away that there must be bad b***d between them based on her reaction. I waited a minute, giving Beth a chance to process her thoughts. I knew she would explain their relationship when she was ready.

“I thought she was dead.” Beth whispered but it was more to herself. I once again waited patiently for her to continue.

“We were really close growing up, that was until we met, Greg, my first mate. She immediately had a crush on him, but his eyes were only for me. She became jealous and crazy, determined to fight the mate bond and make him hers. She got him alone one night and used the same type of spell that I used on Jess to wipe his memories. Luckily I found them in time before she could do any damage. Once the coven heard what she did, she was kicked out for her crimes and told to never return. No one heard from her, or of her after that and we assumed that she must of been killed in the war against witches.” Beth explained and I was shocked. This woman sounds like a spitting image of Heather. This isn’t good, if she’s related to Beth, she must have the same abilities.

“Can I assume that she’s as powerful as you are?” I asked, but already knew the answer. I just wanted to hear her say it.

“Yes, she is. I’m coming back to your territory. She wouldn’t hesitate in hurting Jess just to get back at me.” Beth replied, causing me to growl. No one is going to hurt Jess, I won’t let them.

“Don’t worry, Jess is safe with me but if still want to come, you know you’re always welcome here.” I said and Beth thanked me, before hanging up the phone.

“Well s**t, now we have another crazy chick on the loose.” Josh stated, while shaking his head in disbelief.

“Looks like it. I’m going to replace Jess, she needs to know what’s going on.” I replied, before standing up from my desk.

“Anything else you want us to do?” Kyle asked.

“Ya, make sure the safe room is stocked for the Elders, woman and children. I have a feeling we’ll be needing it very soon.” I replied in a serious tone and Kyle nodded.

I left my office and mind-linked Jess, asking her where she was. She replied that she was training with Sam and a couple warriors. I loved the fact that I could finally mind-link with her, now that we were mated.

We decided to hold off on the Luna ceremony until this ongoing threat was behind us. I want the ceremony to be a specially event and with everything going on right now, I knew no one was in the right mindset for a celebration.

I reached the training field and immediately spotted my mate sparing with Ryan, one of my warriors. She was wearing black leggings and a khaki green sports bra. She looked smoking hot and I was a little jealous that I wasn’t the one sparing with her.

I decided to watch from a distance, before anyone noticed me. Jess was exceptional, she’s come a long way with her fighting skills, both in human and in wolf form. She was fast and agile, giving her a big advantage against some of the larger males. She was dodging hit after hit and I could tell Ryan was losing steams. All of a sudden, she switched from defence to offence and started administering blow after blow to Ryan’s Abdomen and face. He eventually fell to the ground and she quickly pinned him. Within a minute Ryan was tapping out. I smiled proudly, as I watched her defeat one of my best warriors.

“Damn girl, you kicked his a*s.” Sam said excitedly, while walking over to Jess.

“Only because I let her.” Ryan grumbled jokingly, causing Sam to snort.

“Let her? I don’t think so, she practically had you squealing like a pig before you tapped.” Sam taunted.

“How about I fight you next? I could use the ego boost.” Ryan teased, while smirking at Sam.

“Bring it. I’ll climb you like a tree. Human or not, I’ll still put you to shame.” Sam continued with the trash talk. Jess was laughing at the interaction between Sam and Ryan but stayed out of it.

“Ok, that’s enough, settle down firecracker.” I said, while walking up to the group. They all turned their attention towards me.

“Careful tough guy, or this human will kick your a*s after I’m done with his.” Sam threatened while motioning to Ryan, causing me to chuckle. It’s probably a good thing she’s not a werewolf, or she’d have the strength to back up that sassy mouth of hers.

I walked over to Jess, ignoring Sam’s trash talk and wrapped my arms around her, before pecking her lips with mine.

“I missed you.” I said, causing Jess to blush.

“Get a room.” Sam grumbled, as she walked away from us, with a chuckling Ryan.

“I watched you sparing against Ryan, you did great.” I complemented.

“Thank you. I think he was going easy on me.” Jess replied.

“Oh no he wasn’t, I could see the frustration in his face when you got the upper hand. He was trying his best to win, but couldn’t.” I corrected her.

“What are you doing here, anyway? I thought you had meetings?” Jess asked, changing the subject and reminding me why I came looking for her.

“Right, why don’t we walk back to the pack house. I’ll update you on the new information I just received.” I offered and she nodded her head, before grabbing her backpack on the ground and a towel.

I grabbed the bag from her hands and carried it for her, she didn’t argue. She used the towel to wipe the sweat off her chest and forehead, causing my c**k to twitch in my pants. The woman was a goddess, it didn’t take much for me to get turned on.

“Are you just going to stare at me, or are you going to give me the update?” Jess teased, with a knowing smile. If what I had to tell her wasn’t so important, I would be throwing her over my shoulder and dragging her back to the bedroom. Where I could have my way with her. I shook the dirty thoughts out of my head and focused on what I needed to tell her.

While we walked back, I explained everything. I saw the shocked expression on her face when I told her about Gretchen. She had never heard the name. I guess since Gretchen left before Jess was born, her mother had no reason to talk about her cousin.

“Your mother’s coming back to stay with us. She thinks Gretchen might try to hurt you.” I explained and Jess nodded in understanding.

“I can’t believe my mother never told me about her.” Jess said, sounding disappointed.

“I’m sure she had her reasons.” I replied.

We reached the pack house and went up to our room. As soon as walked inside and the door closed, Jess stripped out of her leggings and sports bra, causing me to growl. That was it, the little control I had was gone and I was ready to devour her.

I quickly pulled my shirt over my head and unbuttoned my pants, before stepping out of them. Jess giggled at my eagerness and made her way to the bathroom. She turned on the shower before turning towards me. I was now standing directly in front of her.

‘Alpha, we just got word that Alpha Philip’s and his entire army are moving out.” Kyles voice rang in my head. I could hear the panic in his tone.

“What is it?” Jess asked, with a frown.

“Alpha Philip’s and his army just left their territory, we’re going to war.” I replied, in a serious voice, while walking out of the shower. Jess followed me into the bedroom. I could see the concern etched on her face and I’m not going to lie, I was also concerned.
