Kade POV
I just declared myself as an Alpha King contender and I wanted to tell Gabbie but she was stuck doing a dumb punishment, I didn’t know how long she would be doing it and I bet she would be exhausted when she was done. I couldn’t wait to nurse her back to health in the privacy of my bedroom.
1 set the weight down and reached for my water bottle. It’s been over five hours shouldn’t she be done now? My wolf was impatient. Its appetite for Gabbie was larger than most days today. I couldn’t blame him our mate was gorgeous.
She was more than gorgeous. She’s funny, brave and she’s my peace. That’s why I couldn’t lose her. My suspicions of what Gabbie might be only intensified after she told me about her latest episode of illegal blows. I couldn’t bring myself to say it. I hated to think of us apart but it might be better for us if she left the school.
I grabbed a towel and walked out of the gym with it hanging around my neck. I bumped into walking out of the Henry pack gym. We locked eyes. We weren’t friends we had nothing to talk about. I loyed his best friend it ended there.
“Heard from the girls?” Alex asked.
“No. They should be done by now.”
My wolf grew agitated but I pushed him down. They could have given them more work.
“Where the hell are those two?!” Leiah blasted.
I relaxed. “Well, there’s one of them.”
“Gabbie isn’t with her, Alex grumbled..
He dumped his duffle bag and marched to meet his mate. She yanked leaves out of her frizzy hair.
“What happened?” I demanded.
“We were jumped and Ivan and Ryan were nowhere to be seen!”
My heart slammed forward. My wolf growled. He was on the edge of my skin. If Ldidn’t control him he would break free and rip something or someone apart.
“Baxter and Harlow took Gabbie. There was nothing could do.”
My world moved in slow motion. Alex spoke but it didn’t register.
All I saw was red. Baxter–touched my mate. Again!
Harlow broke our deal. She crossed the line.
Alex held Leiah’s shoulder, trying to get information from her.

“Did they say anything? Scratch that where the hell did they go?
“I don’t know they moved quickly. The monster was hiding out in the omega gallows so if Harlow leaves Gabbie out there alone the monster could replace her and finish her off.”
No, no that can’t happen. Gabbie’s strong. She might be wolf–less but she’s mighty. Ivan and Ryan would get what was coming but right now I needed to save Gabbie and punish the masterminds behind this stupid plot.
My wolf immediately latched onto a stale male odour. My eyes went from blue to dark yellow. Baxter.
“Kade–Alex started but I stormed off.
Leiah and Alex followed behind me. Harlow’s scent flew in the air but she was far. Baxter spoke to two petite gamma females they chuckled at his feeble attempt at a joke.
“Everything okay Sanders?” Gareth asked.
Good thing he didn’t get in my way because I would have hurled him ten feet away. The gamma females scurried away, I grabbed Baxter by his shirt and lifted him off the ground.
“What the hell, Kade?” Baxter barked.
“Where is she? Where the hell is, Baxter?”
Baxter grabbed my wrists but his beta strength wasn’t enough to budge me.
I felt a crowd gather but all they would see a slaughter if Baxter didn’t speak up.
“Who? Your little slut? Probably screwing someone else. You know what they say about omegas.” He winked.
“You have a death sentence mate,” Gareth muttered.
My wolf thirsted for blood and I had no reason to deny him. I hurled Baxter to the ground. Someone grabbed my shoulder. He received a punch for his error. My wolf took full possession of my body and the fear in Baxter’s eyes told me he was aware he made a huge mistake.
I watched the EMTs load Baxter into the back of an ambulance or what was left of him. I didn’t stay to watch the vehicle drive off. I walked back to the Alpha Castle, with my ass sticking out and blood all over my chest.
“Are you that dumb?!” Leiah yelled from behind me.
I felt the presence of the other Alphas.
I wasn’t in the mood to be insulted but I let it slide.
“Now how are we going to replace Gabbie? Baxter was our only lead!” Alex yelled.

Alex marched up to my face and snarled.
“If anything happens to Gabbie because of this it’s on you.”
I clenched my jaw and glanced at the girl behind him
“Cool it. Your mate’s behind you.
Alex swallowed.
“Now what?” Alex said.
“We replace Harlow. I’m sure she’s waiting for me.”
“If we’re going to kick her ass then I’m in,” Gareth smirked.
“You know we can’t do that. You should stay here,” I told him.
It was for Harlow’s safety. Gareth had a bone to pick with Harlow. Even though it was in legal combat she killed Gareth’s fated mate. Harlow is the reason he has a black mark on his chest that will never come off. If at any moment, I get that exact mark I won’t be thinking about Harlow’s safety.
“Open the fucking door, Harlow!”
Alex pushed me aside and jammed his foot into the door. The door fell off its hinges.
Harlow lay on her side in a red satin robe. Her long white hair rolled down one side.
“So impatient, Alex. I was coming.”
“Where is she?” I demanded. “So help me Harlow if she has a scratch on her head you and your entire pack will feel it.”
She flipped her hair, rolling her eyes.
“You’re a traitor, Leiah. What do I expect from the weakest of the group?”
Leiah’s jaw dropped. Alex tucked his mate behind his back and growled at the Alpha female.
“Cut the crap. Are you willing to risk becoming a rogue for this? Ivan’s in shit too he wouldn’t hesitate to make sure you’re banished,” Alex said.
Harlow swallowed but her poker face was back
- up.
“Ivan? I’m challenging him for the position of Alpha. He’s a weak prick and won’t last two seconds against me.”
“No way.” Leiah mumbled.

“As for your little cunt. She jumped off a cliff. On her own.
“No! Gabbie would never do that”
Harlow laughed. “Maybe she wasn’t as happy as you thought. She called it freedom. Freedom from having to bear with your judgemental pack I believe. Freedom from being your Luna and your mate. Huh, you didn’t know a good thing when you had it.”
She isn’t dead. I would have felt it. Or is it because she’s wolf–less that I don’t know if my mate’s dead?
My wolf retreated inside me. This couldn’t be happening to me.
Alex clapped my shoulder.
“We have to go there’s only one cliff I know around here. There might be a chance.”
Harlow eyed me with a blaze burning behind her eyes. I brought this on myself and the only woman I would ever love.
