Chapter 7

The Alpha Castle

This bed felt bigger than the single bed I’d fallen asleep in the other night. I kept rolling to see how big it was. Stupid stuff that came with a disoriented mind.

“Are you trying to fall off?” Alex barked.

My eyes popped open.

“Alex?” I bolted up and pain instantly shot through my arm. “Ouch!”

“Hey, easy!” Alex shoved me back down.

“What the heck happened?” I blinked up at him.

“You tell me Gabriella.”

I cringed. I usually got called by my full name when I did something wrong. I looked at the arm that gave me severe pain and winced. I found a long angry red cut with something that resembled mud covering it. Then the beta gallows came back to me. I swallowed. The last thing I remembered before collapsing was a giant dark–haired man with pale blue eyes. He had to be bigger than Alex which was saying a lot because my best friend was now three to five times my

size.

“I should cover that up.” He mumbled, he rolled off the king size bed and walked to a jointed

room.

It hurt when I sat up the first time, but now I knew I was wounded. Alex’s room was massive. He had a couch, a bookshelf a desk that I doubted he actually used. He had a couple of pictures, one of him and his dad and one with him and his little sister. It was bigger than my living room back home. I gasped. My phone. I patted my pockets and found the phone. Thank goodness it didn’t fall out of my skirt.

Alex walked back into the room with a first aid box. He threw himself on the bed, scooting a little. closer to me. He took my arm and examined the cut. It wasn’t so deep, must have been because of whatever was smeared on my arm.

I sighed, I was going to be a real burden if things went on from here. Leiah embarrassed me in front of the whole school minus the omegas and to make matters worse I got clawed by a beta. So much for a quiet school year.

“I’m sorry… about your hoodie and everything else,” I said.

He looked up at me as he peeled a medicated band–aid. His blue eyes fixed on me before we went back to the aid box.

“It wasn’t your fault. Leiah was out of line.”

“I wouldn’t blame you if you-”

“Hey, stop. I’m not mad at you.”

Then why are you like this: All tense and distant? My voice cracked and I had no idea where the emotions in my voice were coming from

“Because I am pissed, Gabbie. A scratch from a beta could have killed you if it weren’t for Kade

“Kade”

“Yeah Sanders Alpha. It was his beta that hurt you it was only right he took care of you.”

I sniffled. “I don’t remember- No, I did. It made sense for the giant to be an Alpha. An Alpha whose pack hated omega guts. Of course. If he saved me I guess he couldn’t be all bad.

Alex cleaned the dirt that was on my arm and applied an antiseptic to the wound and I winced. More like screamed.

“Alex!

“Don’t be such a baby.” He laughed.

He plastered the cut and I yanked my arm free. I pulled the fleece around myself. The sun had already gone down, geez how long had I been out? Alex made my heart speed up when he cupped my check and brought my forehead to his. Instinctively I closed my eyes. If I was half what he was I would be able to hear his pulse and breathe him in completely. Instead, I got the half–baked version, but it was better than anything I’d felt before.

“Damn it, Gabbie, I thought something happened to you. You looked lifeless when I found you in Kade’s room.”

I willed myself not to panic. I was in the Alpha’s room?!

“I’m sorry,” I whispered.

“I nearly lost my head.” He said, caressing my cheek with his thumb.

And for a split second-

The bedroom door burst open and three vicious girls stormed in. Breaking us apart. I shuffled back while Alex merely twisted the top half of his body.

“Well, don’t you two look comfortable!” Leiah said and a familiar blast of pain shot to my head.

I cradled my head and crawled off the bed. I got the hint.

Alex stood in front of his girlfriend and her crew.

“So this is the little omega.” A girl with short spiky black hair said, more with curiosity than malice. I still wasn’t sure we were going to be friends.

coming before it even hit. I saw the power leave her eyes, but nothing could prepare me for the pain. It didn’t come though.

Alex stood between me and Leiah.

“That’s enough.” He said.

“Step aside Alex. She’s breaking the rules.”

“No, she isn’t. I brought her here and I dare you to try and punish me, Leiah.”

“You’re only lucky you’re immune Alex because you’re getting on my damn nerves.”

“Good so are you. I don’t even want to see you.”

“You should leave omega

Trash like you isn’t allowed here unless it’s too clean. Leave and don’t come back.” The girl with long white hair said. Her words were laced with venom.

Alex sneered at her, but I’d had enough for one day.

“It’s okay. I should get back to my dorm anyway. See you later Alex.” I started to walk, and the two girls stared at me as if I was the worst creature to ever walk the earth.

“Let me take you it’s late.” Alex said.

“You just don’t get it, do you Alex? I don’t care if you’re best friends it doesn’t work here!” Leiah blasted.

Rage burned in his pale eyes, he opened his mouth to speak, but I spoke over him.

“It’s okay Alex. It’s just a few minutes‘ walk.”

“Gabbie….” he sighed, but I was already out the door.

I came out to a hallway with a line of several golden doors with purple jewels. Great, now where did I go? I located the stairs and descended them, following the sound of hearty laughter. I hoped the stairs led to a front door so I could run out of it.

I hit the ground floor and ended up in a lounge with several husky men. I swallowed. Thank goodness they were all occupied with each other to see me, but I knew that wouldn’t last long these werewolves I was dealing with. I spotted the front door and breathed a sigh of relief. I wrapped my arms around myself before I could leave one of the wolves spotted me. Kade… he glanced at me for mere seconds as if I were nothing to give his attention to. I didn’t mind I hurried out of the castle and stepped into the cold.

I exhaled. It was going to be a long semester.

“Omega!” Leiah yelled.

“Oh, what now?” I slowly turned to her.

“Save it! I’m warning you. Stay away from Alex, stay away from our cafeteria and stay away from our castle. You are an omega remember your place or I’ll teach it to you.”

I nodded only because I wanted to get as far away from her as possible.

“Okay fine. This won’t happen again.

She scowled, her eyes flashing a ginger wolf. My brain sizzled and I winced.

“You better hope not.” She stalked back to the castle and I hurried back to the omega quarters as fast as I could, hoping they didn’t lock the doors.

They didn’t. Everyone was asleep when I got there. I climbed into bed, a lot racing in my mind. This was my new life and it felt worse than people talking behind my back now they showed hatred to my face. I never really needed anyone, it shouldn’t have to change now. What my mind. wandered to most was Alex, his words and his actions. I rested my hand where his hand had been on my cheek and let myself dream.
