**Chapter 22**

I turned to look at him, and suddenly a smile etched it's way on hisface. He glanced my way, before he chuckled to himself. This man whohad destroyed our lives and none the less abandoned us not soon afterwas there smiling. there was nothing more provoking or enraging thanseeing him simply smile.

"Reese." I whispered his name. He sideways glanced at me beforemuttering a what. "he can see us. He's watching us.” I said in a coldvoice. Reese looked back and his eyes widened.

He growled as he held me tighter and quickened his steps. "walk withme and don't look back. Just follow me." he said as he walked towardsa bus stop. We boarded a bus and sat at the very back. Soon the busbegan moving and I glanced outside the window. There he was on thesidewalk with a sinister smile on his face.

I shivered in fear and disgust. "okay we're headed home, when we gethome you're going to your mom, I'm headed to my house." he said,which hit a nerve. Why would he want us to separate at a time like this?"Why can't I come with you?" I snapped at him. "Is it because you'regoing to be with your mistress?” I said. I don't know why but I did.Reese let out a sigh of frustration. "I'm not going to see any mistressColleen; You are my mate. The only one. as for Lillian, I haven't eventouched her." he said expressionlessly.

Liar! why would he lie as though what I had felt was a figment of myimagination?

"Liar! how could you look me in the eye and say you didn't when I hadclearly felt it?" I said to him. How does he have the guts to lie throughhis teeth.

“Colleen,” he began but I curt him off.

"Was this what you were hiding from me the entire time so you couldreturn to Lillian’s side?” I snapped.

"Colleen, for goodness sakes, listen to me,”

"what is there to listen to? you're just hurting me again...”

"Can you listen to me Colleen! No, I'm not lying, that burning sensationthat you felt, that was just something your asshole of a father gave todrink, to make you think I mated with someone else and just as muchas It hurt and burned you, it did the same to me. I would never dosomething so out of character. I thought we agreed that you wouldn'tdoubt a single thing I said,” he said assertively as his voice hardened.That actually shut me up. I groaned In stupidity. How can I doubt theperson whose trying their hardest to protect me and our child?

"I don’t know what's going on with me," I stated.

"Just give it some time, it will slowly fade away," he said making myeyebrows rise, what was he talking about?

We rode the bus in silence. Neither of us speaking to each other. Reesekept a distance away from me, probably angry at my accusation. Butyou can't blame me, he broke my trust the first time didn’t he? The buscame to a stop and we hopped off only to come face to face with theman we've been running away from for that hour.

"Well, well, well" it sounded so not dramatic. "Reese, I thought you weresmarter than that.” my father spoke. "Did you actually think you couldoutrun me?" he stated quite proudly.

"Outrun? That's not something I do, I just needed to see for myself." hesaid.

"Oh my, arent you a nosey one?” my father said as he let out a laugh.Reese kept his face quite neutral trying not to give anything away as hiseyes simply kept locked with my father's his hand in front of me. "Whatis it that you want from us exactly? make your intentions clear like youalways have and will continue to do" he said, I watched as his eyesturned dark. As his wolf tried making an appearance.

"I always knew you were quite the cunning fool, like your father,” hesaid as Rees's hands fisted, his demeanour unchanging.

"Whatever bad blood that seemed to have risen between you and myfather, is not something I'm supposed to shoulder the burden of."

"Oh but itis,"

"How so?" Reese was dragging out the conversation for some reasonand I could tell.

"The moment you were decided to be mated by my daughter dearest; itbecame your burden. Reese, all his faults are yours now, it's all yourfault now." he said. "I gave you simple instructions, rather you can'tseem to follow, now I guess I'll have to think of something else. Such ahassle.” he said.

He sounded.... Like a.... Child? A child looking for something fun toerase his boredom. but behind that boredom there was something elsehe was plotting.

"Why are you doing this?" this time it was I who spoke out. My voiceshaky as the question came out.

He turned to me, an insincere. smile taking over his face. "Colleen babygirl! How are you, did you miss me? I know I did you." he cooed as awave of disgust washed over me.

"Answer the question.” I said to him.

He huffed out a breath and turned to me. "What's the use of being ableto do anything and being bored. Now back to my new way." hethought for a moment. "aha! I've got it." he smiled.

Reese looked at me, and back at my father looking ready to pounce.But he held back for my sake.

"It's simple really, everyday you'll feel the sensation you felt the nightafter your rejection. Your precious mate needs to heal that pain andthat means having to mate with you until it's gone. what better way toslowly kill you off, huh Reese? Oh but don't worry, my grandchild willbe out of harm's way because I still need-"

and suddenly Reese's eyes widened.

"Seems I have spouted too much," he said before simply winking at me.A pain suddenly sparked through me as I fell to my knees, unable tohandle it.

Reese stopped and turned to me abruptly and in less than two secondshe was by my side.

"What's happening to her?!" he demanded from my father.

"Oh my, would you look at that, it has already begun!"." he smiledcunningly.

"h-how do I make it stop, how do I make her pain stop. Tell me. Please!”Reese asked desperately. Almost helplessly.

"simple. MATING." he said.

"Mating? I can't mate with her, she's pregnant!" Reese said flusteredand confused but most of all angry

"Not necessarily physical mating. It's the simple task of a mating mark,did I not say my grandchild will be out of harm's way? She needs tomark you every night till dawn and of course you'll need time torejuvenate, because she won't be simply marking you, she’s going to bekilling you." he said.

My insides felt like they were ripping apart. Reese pulled me closer tohim until my face was right by his neck. "bite me.” he said and that'sexactly what I did.

I bit him.
