"Abby!" Renee turned around, and when she saw her daughter, her heart warmed. She carried Abby inher arms. "Yes, it's me. I'm sorry, baby... I was away for a long time. Did you miss me?"

Abby looked tense when Renee picked her up, and she shook her head." You're not Mommy. Mommy'seyes are black, and she can't see."

Isn't it cool?" Renee was a bit stricter with Adie since he was a boy, and talked to him like shewould a friend-in a relaxed and teasing manner.

"It's so cool!' Adie ran over and held Renee's hand, staring up at her face." Mommy, you look like a fairynow. You're much more awesome than before. I wonder what Daddy would feel when he sees you. I'msure he'll like this look very much!"

Renee flinched when Adie mentioned Stefan, and chuckled awkwardly." Don't bring him up. Just thinkthat he's... flown to space with a swoosh." Renee didn't want them to feel disappointed again. If anadult like her couldn't, how could they?

"Why not? I just got in touch with Daddy." Adie asked with a frown. "He said he'll be back soon."

"Did he contact you?" Renee sounded suspicious. "That can't be." "It's true! Come upstairs and see foryourself if you don't believe me." Adie held Renee's hand, and they both went upstairs.
