Alissa's

POV

I made my way out of the bathroom and the first person I see is HIM.

Luke.

"Alissa" he said.

He was leaning by the wall close to the bathroom door.

I contemplated on whether I should give him a taste of bad attitude or act casual because it feels like acting indifferent would be more annoying.

"What's up?" I asked casually.

In the end, I chose the petty option.

Luke seemed a bit taken aback.

"What's up? Seriously?" he said.

I faked a smile.

"What's wrong?" I asked innocently.

I saw Luke's jaw tighten as he looked at me.

I know that this isn't the reaction he was expecting from me.

He must think I'd keep avoiding him but no.

I choose to be petty because he chose to be a jerk.

"Can we talk? In private, please" he said.

"Oh but we have guests, Luke. How can we just leave them be when we should be accommodating them? I don't think stepping away is a very good idea at the moment" I said. "It'll only be for a moment" he said.

"That just won't do. It is our duty as bride and groom to be present at all times" I said.

Luke massaged the bridge of his nose in frustration.

"Alissa" Luke said.

"You know what? We should make sure everyone is doing okay" I said and tugged on his shirt pulling him.

He couldn't even complain and I felt both relief that I don't have to talk to him alone and satisfaction because he's not getting his way this time.

We ended up chatting with different guests and I could tell that Luke really wanted to do something else but I wasn't giving him a choice.

From now on, he's not getting his way with me.

He wants to talk to me?

He needs to deserve my time.

He wants to be with me?

He needs to prove he's worthy of my presence.

I'm no longer just his mate.

I am his wife now.

Being married to him gas its perks and it includes this one.

We went around for a while until we ended up with my pack.

"Your highness" the Alpha said and he and my pack members bowed their heads to Luke in respect.

Luke gave them a nod.

"Thank you for being here. We appreciate your presence" Luke said.

"It's our pleasure to be here and we would never want to miss a special moment in Alissa's life" the Alpha said and looked at me. "She may no longer be in our pack but she will always be one of us" he said.

I smiled.

The Alpha's words warmed my heart.

"Thank you. I'm glad that Alissa has such amazing people like yourselves caring for her outside the palace" Luke said.

Then, his eyes roamed around and it landed on something.

Or more like someone.

I noticed he was looking at Griffin and Griffin was staring at me.

I saw Luke's brows furrow and he suddenly wrapped his arms on my waist.

My brows furrowed a little and I pinched his back so he'd let me go but Luke didn't budge one bit.

I raised a brow at him and he ignored me as he continued to talk to the Alpha and Luna.

Oh for Pete's sake.

Luke refused to let me go and I didn't want to make a fuss in front of my pack because in their eyes, we were a a happy royal couple. We are not.

Specially not at the moment.

I wanted to push Luke away but didn't.

I felt so annoyed.

After some time, Luke finished talking with the Alpha and Luna and he pulled me away with him.

Once I was sure that no one was looking, I slightly pushed Luke away and frowned.

"I didn't give you permission to touch me" I mind linked him as I squinted my eyes at him.

Luke sighed then ignored me.

I became more annoyed but hid it and just stepped away from him a little.

We continued meeting and greeting the guests until I was too tired and wanted to rest.

I spotted aunt Livi so to avoid Luke from being alone with me, I went to aunt Livi's table.

Luke was going to stop me but I quickly made my move.

"Aunt Livi" I said.

"Hi, dear" aunt Livi greeted me with a smile then simply glanced at her son.

Aunt Livi pulled a seat beside her and I sat there. It was a seat between aunt Livi and his majesty.

"Your majesty" I greeted his majesty, former King Luan.

"Alissa, please be comfortable in calling me uncle or even father. You are after all, married to my son already and it is too formal to keep calling me that" he said.

I pursed my lips shyly.

"Okay...uncle" I said.

Uncle Luan and Aunt Livi smiled.

Luke quietly sat across from me.

I talked with aunt Livi and uncle Luan about random things as we ignored Luke.

I did feel bad that his own family was upset with him but then I remembered what he did and if I was his family, I'd be pretty upset with him as well.

Luke didn't even complain.

I figured he wouldn't.

He couldn't.

He wasn't one to mess with his parents or disrespect them in any way.

Time passed by and people started to leave one by one.

The day was coming to an end and I felt extremely relieved.

I was tired as well and just wanted to go to bed. That's what I had on my mind.

I want to rest and get this day over with.

I know that things should be going differently from what I had in mind but since there were 'issues' from earlier, there will not be a traditional night of the wedding day.

I refuse to sleep with Luke or even be in the same bedroom with him.

Not tonight.

Finally, the last visitor left and my pack members were guided out so they could go to their quarters to sleep in for the night and leave tomorrow.

Denisse stayed since she'd be sleeping with Liana and I.

Instead of a honeymoon night, I'm having a girl's night.

It will probably be filled with nothing but gossips, of course.

Liana and Denisse stood on both my sides and they held my arm as soon as everyone was out.

"To my room, we go" Lia announced as they both pulled me out of there.

Well, not until I was pulled back by my waist.

The 3 of us turned around to see Luke, of course.

"Dude, let go" Lia said squinting gwr eyes at her brother.

"I need to talk to Alissa" he said.

"You don't get to talk to the girl who needed to wait for you to come on your wedding day. You don't get to talk to her and make excuses. Decent men don't do that to their partners" Lia said and forcefully removed Luke's arm on me before pulling me away. "You go girl" Denisse said cheerfully.

"He needs to know that he's at fault. Make him feel bad for days because of it. He doesn't get to play with my bestfriend's feeling and expect to be forgiven immediately afterwards" Lia said.

I smiled and she looked at me.

"Take all the time you need away from 'your husband'. You can sleep in my room for as long as you please" she said and I stopped to hug her. "Thank you" I muttered.

It's not easy nor satisfactory to see Luke being treated like this by his family but like me, they had simple expectations from him that he couldn't do properly.

Be there for our wedding as planned.

He was 2 hours late.

No one knew where he was. No one knew what he was doing.

I wasn't able to talk to him for days before that.

Now he wants to talk?

I would've understood if Luke was only late for a couple of minutes, half an hour or maybe even an hour.

But the thing is, even when he came, when I saw him in the altar, it didn't seem like he actually wanted to be there.

And maybe that's what hurt the most.

Not the fact that he made me wait but the fact that in the end of it all, after forcing me to be there, to be here, he was the one to have doubts.

I wish I was over thinking it.

I wish that we were only mad at him because he was late and he made everyone else wait.

But the real reason why everyone is so upset with him was because we knew Luke enough to know the reason behind his absence earlier.

Luke is a responsible person. He handles his responsibilities really well and takes his duty to the people seriously.

He isn't the type to arrive late to important events. He isn't the type to disappear at night without telling anyone and not come back.

He isn't that type of person so we all knew that something was wrong when morning came and he wasn't here.

We all knew then but we still tried our best to put our faith into him and wait until he arrived.

I sighed.

We finally reached Liana's bedroom and as soon as we got there, we took turns in the bathroom to freshen up and changed to our pajamas.

I was the first one to freshen up amd change since I was the most exhausted one based on them.

I sat by the bed with a towel on my gair since I was too lazy to dry it.

Maybe later.

Denisse was in the bathroom and it was just Liana and I.

"Ali" she said.

"Hmm?" I replied with a hum.

"Be honest. How made are you with ny brother right now? Because I'm pretty mad at him" she said.

I slightly chuckled.

"No, seriously" she said.

I looked at her and took a deep breath.

"Honestly? I don't even want to talk about him. That's how upset I am with him" I said.

"You're only upset? You should be angry" she said.

"Oh I am but I'm too tired to hold on to that feeling now. Maybe tomorrow I'll continue being angry" I said and we both chuckled.

Then, Lia looked at me with soft eyes.

"I'm sorry" she said.

I slightly smiled at her.

"I don't know what Luke's reason was. Not too long ago, he seemed like he couldn't live or breathe without you and the fact that not having you would drive him crazy. I...I don't know what happened to him" she said. "Everything seemed fine, didn't it? You guys fought and argued but you eventually fixed it so I was really surprised when we....when we couldn't reach him" she continued. Always visit Narugi.com for free novels and updates. "I'm sorry you had ti go through that, Ali. I'm sorry if my brother is such a confusing jerk. He doesn't deserve you and I stand by that but you guys don't have much of a choice now, do you?" she said.

I got out of bed and walked to Liana to give her a hug.

"Don't say sorry for your brother. It's not like it's your fault that he had second thoughts. We never really had a stable relationship to begin with. I should've expected it to happen" I whispered as I hugged her.

"I should have disagreed on the wedding. I should have encouraged and helped you to just run away again. But I didn't want you to leave again. I really didn't want to lose you again" she said as her voice broke. I hugged Liana tighter and caressed her back.

I realized now that Luke's action did not only affect our relationship and how I looked at him.

It also made a huge impact on the people around us. The one who cared about us and that's the worst part of it all.

It wasn't just me who was hurting deep inside.

Everyone else was hurting for me too.
