Unclaimed Luna’s Desire
Chapter 44 A Kiss Under the Fireworks

Ellie's POV:

Paul and I strolled along, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder.

I bet anyone who didn't know us would think we were a couple.

The moon was high up, hanging in the dark sky.

As we walked, lights on both sides lit up like fireflies, surrounding us.

It was so bright, and the warm light felt like sunshine on my skin.

I could even feel the heat from Paul's palm. My hand was probably sweating from holding his.

The lights here felt magical, like they were more than just bulbs-they made it feel like a fairy tale. I was totally lost in it.

It was so dreamy, no pain or worries, just happy chatter and laughter around me.

Ahead of us stood the tallest Ferris wheel I had ever seen.

Oh my god!

It was stunning, with flashing lights making it look like a never-ending firework in the dark.

As we got closer, I had to look up to see the whole Ferris wheel.

It was dazzling and breathtaking!

"Ellie," I heard Paul call my name.

I turned to him, meeting his affectionate eyes.

Paul's eyes were deep and bright, like stars were hidden in them, pulling me in.

"What's up?" I asked.

Paul said, "I heard that if two people kiss at the top of the Ferris wheel, they'll be blessed by the Moon Goddess and replace happiness."

I didn't quite get what he meant, so I tilted my head, confused.

"But I noticed only couples are getting on the Ferris wheel. Let's skip it," I said, feeling a bit down.

"I know, but I want you to get the Moon Goddess's blessing and happiness." Paul held my hand and kissed the back of it. "Trust me, Ellie. There's nothing to be scared of." Paul's words really touched me.

Honestly, I wanted the Moon Goddess's blessing too, especially with transformation day coming up.

But everyone in line was a couple, and Paul and I weren't, which made me hesitate.

I thought maybe the Moon Goddess only blessed couples.

"But..."

Paul cut me off, "We've tried all the rides except the Ferris wheel. Ellie, I don't want you to have any regrets."

His words tipped the scales in my heart. He always had a way of convincing me.

I had to admit, he got me.

All day, Paul had been by my side, trying to make me happy, which was rare.

I noticed that.

No guy had ever been so in tune with my feelings, except Paul!

Paul only asked for this one thing today, all for me, and I didn't want to let him down.

So, I agreed.

I nodded and followed Paul into the open cabin.

The cabin rose higher, getting further from the ground, and the buildings below got smaller.

It was my first time seeing the city from above, the buildings shrinking, and us getting closer to the moon.

I felt like a country bumpkin, my face pressed against the glass, soaking in the view.

It was mesmerizing.

The whole cabin was made of glass, so clear it felt like it wasn't even there.

Paul and I sat inside, like we were the only two people in the world.

I felt free to be myself, no worries about being judged.

"Ellie," Paul said, pulling out a soft white handkerchief from his chest pocket. "I'm gonna show you a magic trick."

I didn't expect someone like Paul, a noble and deputy leader, to do something so playful. It caught me off guard.

"But I need a lovely assistant," Paul said, looking around like he was on stage. "Is there a beautiful lady who can help me?"

I laughed at his act and held my hands out. "Sir, I think I can help you."

"Thank you, miss," Paul said, placing the handkerchief with his family crest in my palm and wrapping my hand with his. "Now, blow on it." I did as he said.

As I focused on our hands, I saw a flash of red.

"A flower for you, beautiful lady," Paul said, holding up a red rose.

When I opened my hand, the handkerchief was gone.

It was pure magic, and I couldn't help but gasp, "It's so beautiful!"

I bent down to smell the rose, taking in its rich scent.

"Not this one," Paul said.

I didn't get what he meant.

Before I could ask, Paul gently lifted my chin and turned my head to the window.

We had reached the top of the Ferris wheel, and fireworks exploded above us.

Stars burst and fell all around.

It felt like we were in the middle of a meteor shower.

The whole cabin was transparent, and I could see the fireworks bursting below us, then falling.

"Oh my God! This is so beautiful! Paul, is this magic? It's amazing!"

I pressed my hands against the glass, trying to touch the sparkling fireworks.

"Do you like it?" Paul asked.

"Of course!"

In this magic show, I was the only audience.

Paul's performance was just for me.

I felt so special, a sweet feeling blooming in my heart.

I never thought Paul could be so romantic. I even wondered if the fireworks were for me!

But I knew that was impossible. I was just an ordinary person, and Paul didn't need to impress me.

Suddenly, I felt a hand on the back of my neck.

I turned and found Paul right behind me.

He was so close, way too close, and I could count his eyelashes.

I held my breath.

Paul's warm breath brushed my cheek, making me feel dizzy.

In this intimate moment, with Paul so close, I couldn't react. I just closed my eyes.

He was so gentle, his lips barely brushing mine, like a hidden whirlpool pulling me in.

Paul's kissing skills were amazing, and I could only follow his lead, surrendering completely.

I felt weak from just one kiss, all my strength gone. I could barely stand.

After a full circle on the Ferris wheel, Paul had to carry me out of the cabin.

I buried my face in his chest, too shy to look up.
