Chapter 43
Logan was taken aback. "Lorraine, I told you. We're a couple. Your matters are my matters. Even if you don't need my help to repay the loan, as long as I have extra money, I'll help you."
"That debt is from before our marriage. How can I let you pay for it? Besides, you're already paying ten grand a month for the kids' kindergarten fees. You've probably spent most of your savings. You should focus on the kids' tuition. I'll handle my debt.
"Thanks to the large order Sonia introduced to me, this year's fertilizer and labor costs are covered. The remaining fruit sales will be our profit for the year.
"Once the persimmons are in season at the end of the year, we'll earn. more. I plan to pay off a chunk of the debt this year, so there's no need for you to help me."
Seeing Logan unmoved, Lorraine got up and fetched the kids' pencil. She tore a sheet from the calendar to draft a "Pre-Marital and Post- Marital Agreement".
Seeing she was serious, Logan didn't argue further.
When she finished drafting, Logan took the paper to read.
The pre-marital agreement was simple. Lorraine's pre-marriage loan, amounting to a million, was solely her responsibility. Logan was not obligated to help repay it. The post-marital agreement had three points.
First, due to their flash' marriage without a foundation of feelings, they should sleep separately. If they had to share a bed, they couldn't engage in marital relations without mutual consent. Second, they would give each other personal space.
Third, they wouldn't mention divorce within a year. If Lorraine initiated a divorce, she would compensate Logan with a psychological damage fee that was to be set by him, but it could not be an exorbitant amount. If Logan initiated the divorce, they would split custody of the children, each taking one.
Logan's mouth twitched at the third point. Lorraine wanted to split custody of the kids even though they weren't her biological children.
Was she planning to use the child as a shield against her parents' pressure to remarry?
"Do you have a laptop? I need to type this up and print it in duplicate for us to sign," Lorraine said, not waiting for Logan's response as she went to get his laptop.
"Let me print it," Logan said quickly.
His laptop contained too much company information, and if she used it, his identity would be exposed. He nearly snatched the laptop from
her.
"You have no objections to my draft?" Lorraine asked.
"No objections. You go take a shower. I'll type and print the agreement," Logan offered.
Seeing he had no objections and was eager to print it, Lorraine let him handle it. "I don't have any clothes here," she remarked.
Logan paused. "Oh, right. I'll get you a set of my clothes to wear for
now."
He had arranged everything with Michael except for Lorraine's change of clothes, which he obuldn't ask Michael to buy. They had only been married for two days, and it was her first time at his rented apartment, so preparing a set of clothes for her here would seem odd.
"It's still early. I'll go out and buy some clothes. I can wash them and

dry them today so that I can wear them tomorrow," Lorraine said, noting the time.
It was hot, and summer clothes would dry quickly.
"I'll go with you," Logan said, putting down the laptop and grabbing his phone.
"No need. You stay and print the agreement. I noticed a pedestrian street with clothing stores less than a mile from the complex. I'll go alone," Lorraine replied.
Logan didn't argue. He picked up his wallet from the vanity, took out a few hundred, and handed it to her. "Take this to buy clothes."
Lorraine pushed the money back. "I have my own money."
She didn't need much for clothes. Since she spent most of her time working in the orchard, her clothes often got dirty, so she usually bought inexpensive ones. They would usually cost a couple of dollars each, so buying a few sets wouldn't cost much.
