Chapter 47

Nonetheless, Logan couldn't bring himself to eavesdrop.

Lorraine took a while to come out. She wore Logan's clothes, which looked loose on her, but she didn't seem to mind.

She walked over, sat on the other side of the bed, and placed her phone on the nightstand. Then, she removed her glasses and lay down. Logan merely watched her fluid movements. "Babe?"

Lorraine turned her head to look at him with a smile on her face." Logan, just call me by my name. Calling me 'babe' sounds too cheesy. I'm not used to it. And it's late. Let's sleep."

Logan lay down beside her, trying to get closer. However, she placed her hand on his chest, stopping him from getting too near.

"Logan, we just signed the agreement. Please stick to it. If you have something to say, just say it. I have good hearing. I can hear you just,

fine from here."

Sharing a bed didn't bother Lorraine, but she knew men could get impulsive. She had to remind Logan to follow their agreement.

Logan paused before asking, "Do you not replace me attractive?"

"You're very handsome. You could even be a movie star."

"Doesn't having such a handsome husband make you feel like doing a little something?"

Lorraine looked at him thoughtfully and then said, "A little."

Hearing this, his face lit up with a smile. He asked eagerly, "What are you thinking? Lorraine, we're legally married. I won't ask for a divorce. Plus, it's hard to replace a wife these days, and you didn't even demand

a

house, a car, or a huge dowry. I feel like I've struck gold.

"So, I'll never ask for a divorce. Since we are to be lifelong partners, we'd surely... Well, tell me, what are you thinking?"

Lorraine playfully pinched his handsome face with a laugh. "I'm wondering how you got to be so handsome. Do you have a secret?"

Logan fell silent.

"Earlier, I received a call from Moore Corporation's special assistant, Mr. Cornell. He also wants to buy cherries as part of the Easter gifts for the company's senior executives, probably because Ernest Incorporated is doing the same.

"I never expected to receive a call from Mr. Cornell. It felt like winning the lottery."

Lorraine continued, "Then, I asked Sonia, and she confirmed that Mr. Cornell is indeed the special assistant of Moore Corporation. She also mentioned that he's known for being aloof and unapproachable. It's surprising that such a proud person would call me to buy my cherries."

Logan discreetly rolled his eyes. William, aloof and unapproachable? That gossipy man?

The aloof one should be him, Logan Moore!

Thinking about how he always appeared courteous and gentle in front of her, Logan suddenly felt unsure of his own demeanor.

"I agreed to deliver the cherries to Mr. Cornell in the afternoon before Easter. It's going to be a lot of work, but once I finish these two orders, the Bing and Meteor cherries in my cherry orchard will be nearly picked clean. I'll just have to wait for the Sentennial and Staccato varieties to ripen."

Logan said considerately, "I've taken three days off, and with Easter, I

can rest a bit more. I can help with the picking."

"I feel a bit guilty. We just got married, and I'm already making you

work hard."

Logan gently tapped her nose and smiled. "We can do away with formalities since we're husband and wife."

Lorraine felt grateful once again for acting quickly and getting the marrjage certificate as soon as she found him. By making him her man first, she ensured no one else could take him.

Then, she thought to herself that her luck had been really good these past two days. Could it be that Logan was her good luck charm?
