Feeling a bit uneasy and a pit in my stomach I closed the book and placed it on the coffee table in front of me. I allowed the silence to fill the space till I jumped as I heard the jerk of the front door open and a silhouette figure came through. Allowing the cold to sweep through the space for a moment.

I shivered at the cold till the dark silhouette closed the door behind them and turned allowing light to be casted down his face.

Why was Wolf here?

“Wolf?” I questioned, “why are you here?”

He strolled to where I sat and joined me on the couch like it was his place.

“I am still training, not really allowed to leave till I am given a day off” he replied, but I feel that is not truly the reason why he is here, there is something more to his explanation, but I didn’t pester him rather I nodded and looked at him.

“How’s the cold weather treating you, along with the flurry snow-flakes?” I started.

He smiled and I studied him as he still had a slight silhouette to his figure from the window above.

“It’s still a bit new to me as I grown up in the forest near an ocean where we get snow and such but the air much denser with humidity of water.” He answered.

He turned his head to the first casting a beautiful glow to his face with the shadow of light, it almost made him look enchanted not part of this world. His gaze returned to mine and almost gave me an off look.

“Why are you staring at me like I am a god?”

I shook myself and the words came out. “I want to know more about Lycans” then bit my lip unsure of how I came across to him.

His face was shocked but he gazed at me, a king gesture, “Anything specific” as he rearranged himself on the couch providing me his attention.

“Well,” I readjusted myself as well, “Emily and Damon told me about Lycan’s Mark…and no I feel comfortable asking you …what are they?” I allowed the words to flow out in a smooth way. No hesitation or fear in them.

Wolf collected his thoughts allowing a comfortable silence between us. Nodding to himself he gazed into my eyes and electric feeling started to spark.

“A Lycan mark is usually based on the place you are from, as you should say a place of origin. For example my Mark, on my forehead” he point to it. “is purple blue that places me by the sea meaning my pack is by the sea. Mainly Hunter Forest, known as the Northern Depths ”

I cocked my head in his response, “that makes sense I confirmed, but design of the Mark?” I tried going a bit deeper.

He nodded, “My mark is technically a ocean as my father is alpha and we in Lycan world are known as royalty, but royalty has different meaning than from Immortals royalty.”

‘Oh’ I mouthed with slight wide eyes, but he continued.

“Other marks are somewhere placed on cheek bones, eyelids to eyebrow or along the neck up or down. The design is random, but belong in alpha family you automatically have a crown.

I looked away and nodded my head. “Do you speak a different language?” again the question popped out.

Wolf chuckled as it was an obvious answer.

“Yes, immortal language is my second language, as my native is Lycanthrope.”

“That would explain the hint of the accent” I confirmed to myself.

He smirked and nodded, then he looked around with I had another question fired up.

“Does it hurt to transform?”

He snapped his gaze to mine as surprised, I even asked that. Eventually after a moment he realized I was dead serious on asking him.

“No, it does not hurt, if you like I can show you.”

I sucked in air completely shocked the he even asked me that. I bit my lip and thought for a moment.

“You don’t have to if you are scared by it.”

I gazed at him as his gaze went to mine. I swallowed. “maybe another time?” I breathed, “when I can prepare for it?”

He nodded and stood up stretching and looked around. “You alone here… is everyone actually gone?” he asked in a way of disbelief.

I hummed a yes.

He turned to me and smiled.

“You need to experience winter like no one is here, seems like you would get a kick out it.”

I cocked my head, “uh?”

He shifted to me reaching down and lifted himself to his feet bringing me up with him. It resulted in small yelp from my mouth.

“Come we are going to experience winter.”

And that is exactly what we did.

From snowball fights to skating across the fountain pond and experience some sledding from a few banks off the building. There were a few onlookers that had apparently stayed behind but they mainly ignored us and went on with their day.

The snow would scrunch under our feet to a few slips on ice that was disguised. The weather was just right reminding me why winter was my favourite.

Only a few days past by and Wolf came to my door early in the morning where the sun barely touched the floating grounds. I woke from a knock and mumbled a come in. He entered in looking rather timid like he was scared to ask me something.

I stayed in bed because of the coolness that surrounded the air. I gestured him to the bed and he came sat comfortably on the bed.

“How are you doing?”

I raised a brow and smirked, “I am good though cold, but well, why do you ask?” I tilted my head studying him.

He leaned in as if he was going to say a secret but leaned away enough to make himself comfortable again. But he was avoiding the something and I am not sure why. Possibly because of a rejection or something else I could not think of.

“I have a request…I already asked permission and was accepted…” he paused scared by his own words.

“What is it?” I softly demanded.

“Would you like to attend with a full moon celebration at my pack. Its’ in the Hunter Forest Pack but you won’t know where that it.”

“Full moon celebration?” I asked a bit confused.

He nodded but the realized I asked a question having no idea what he was talking about.

“Every month we have a night where we celebrate a full moon. It directed to the Lycan god for some reason, I am still figuring that out.” Replied and thought deeply to him. But shook and continued. “Would you like to come; it has dancing feasting and everything a celebration is…yes you will be only Immortal there but…no one will care.”

I brought my lips into a think line thinking, it would be nice to know more Lycan’s and enjoy some dancing and see a new part of this world. Somehow. I felt I should go and feel some rhythm.

“I want to come, when do we leave?”

Wolf smiled, “once you get ready, pack for one night.”

I nodded my head already jumping out the bed and getting myself ready.

“Clothing?” I asked.

Wolf strolled form the bed towards the window and stared out for moment.

“It’s not as cold there but bring layers and good shoes for warmth and dancing as well boots…don’t worry there will be several bonfires to keep us warm.”

Then walked to the door saying goodbye and will come and get me soon. I was already beaming with joy and excitement. This was turning out to be the winter break.

~ * ~

We arrived to dimly lit forest that had a bit of snow scatter on the ground. The air was cool and bit the skin a little more but barely noticeable.

We travelled by a blue whirl pool oval was a portal, least that is what Wolf called it. We were just outside the place and trekked forward through some more ankle-deep snow. While Wolf was telling me what to expect.

“They will welcome you do not worry, all they come about is you enjoying yourself and they will be having fun as well.” He confidently assured me.

I just nodded unaware how I actually felt. I knew I would be staying for one night as the bag slung over my shoulder, but was filled with excitement. Seeing something new and wondered what to would happen.

My body filled with anticipation.

We walked around a few thick trees and soon I began to hear crows and saw in some distance a few log houses. It probably indicated we had arrived.

“And welcomed to Hunters Forest pack” Wolf gestured to me as we entered into a clearing and. I saw multiple people setting up bonfires and tables. No one really acknowledging we arrived.

“We will head over to my home, “Wolf said and took my hand guiding me now through the crowd of people who didn’t take second looks but gave us smiles.

We came to a house that looked like all the others, it had a porch with steps and that cozy feeling. There a woman talking to someone but I guessed it she was Wolf’s mother as her mark was on her forehead, but her Mark was brown red.

She stood calmly talking and I watched studying her, with black raven hair that flew though the wind that was casual.

Wolf and I approached her and she turned with a huge smile and instantly too in her son.

Wolf oh how I missed you” she gazed at me from behind Wolf back still smiling. She released him, “This must be Asema,” her voice was thinking with an accent. Different than Wolf’s.

She shifted away from him, “Hello, I am Accalia, Wolf’s mother”. She came and stood in front of me almost like she wanted to hug me but held herself and shook my hand.

“Nice to meet you” I replied.

She looked back at Wolf. “She is the one, I can feel it,” she said her accent came up again, but it was different when speaking with than with Wolf.

I gaze over at Wolf who intervened.

Mama, please speak Immortal to her…she won’t understand” He pleaded and took my hand again leading me inside the house. With my confused on what just happened.

Rest of the day was rushing around getting arrangements done making sure I was wearing appropriate clothing.

I wore no toque, just some jeans and light jacket with fingerless gloves. When I came down the stairs to meet Wolf, he was wearing some weird medieval jacket with a sense of cowboy style shoes, yet they were not cowboy shoes. Wearing high waist leather pants with some white slight baggy shirt and leather dark brown jacket that reached to his mid thighs.

He looked between modern and medieval.

I looked out the window and saw it was already dark and thought it may be a bit drafty outside.

“My grandpapa and papa will meet us at the square.”

I nodded wondering what relevance that was to me.

We stepped outside and instantly music of drums, violins, guitar and flutes filled my ears. To add on shouting of laughter and small vibration of the ground below.

In the distance I could see as what Wolf said about multiple bonfires as they lit up the night sky. I didn’t even notice how the cold was already snapping through my clothes.

Wolf led me to the fun.

The closer we got the warm it was getting the fire provided so much warmth that it was becoming a more of a summer type of heat. We came to a table where Accalia sat and was talking while eating with a man who. I suppose was Wolf’s father as he had blue purple Mark on his forehead.

He had salt and pepper hair and was talking back to his wife. Joining them to while some were already dancing. We began to dig in and eat.

“I am Atreyu” the man spoke, “Wolf’s father” he said then took his wife for a dance. Leaving Wolf and I to eat and watch.

Moments gone and Wolf leaned over, “you don’t have to join but can watch.” He slightly shouted, I replied with barely audible okay and he was off in the crowd dancing with the people.

I was shock to different he seemed; his feet went into instant rhythm with everyone else allowing the ground beneath me vibrate.

They were clapping, other were twirling to backflips. It was so natural as they danced moving to together like nature. I found a smile was appearing on my face from seeing such joy.

Before I knew it my feet somehow were drawn to the music and. I was jumping with everyone else swinging with them, becoming a flawless waves patter. I felt as if I belonged with these people in my natural environment.

A hand snaked around my waist twirling me around. The warmth was intense and electricity was flowing between our connection. His hands swung me around and I found myself facing Wolf who was holding my waist while we hopped and spun around the heavy area. I had become memorized.

I allowed him to guide me around the fires while the heat was nothing compared to our touch. I felt free and nothing would touch me. Soon he led us into a group dance where we all did the same gestures and steps. With a bit of guidance from Wolf. I began dancing like another flawless working machine. I was smiling and laughing so hard my cheeks began to throb with pain but. I did not stop.

I didn’t realize a subtle slow but up beat song came on where Wolf took me as his partner again and we grabbed each by the waist twirling each other around, acting as if we were a windmill.

I found his eyes and he found mine. I stared into his eyes, seeing how the fire brought the golden specks out of them. I was enchanted by them as he put me under his spell.

He too seemed enchanted as he couldn’t take his eyes off of mine.

I don’t know how long we stayed like that but I realized we stopped moving and just stared at one another lost. I soon realized everyone else had stopped as well. The ground was still and music was paused. I swallowed and we broke our gaze to see everyone was staring at us like a revelation had happened. As if something between us was meant to happen.
